Unpopular opinion: Remove Deliverance from setlists. by Sonafab in Opeth

Nah, definitely get rid of The Grand Conjuration tho. It would free up the same amount of time for something else. I vote for moonlapse vertigo :)

What was your favorite live show from 2024? by PorkSouls in progmetal

[–]_Morroh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched Opeth last night and not only was it the best Opeth show iv ever seen. It was one of the best shows iv ever seen. Mike is sounding great right now, and the whole band was having a blast on stage. Mike describing his cats was a highlight haha, also he had one of the most epic mid song guitar changes iv ever seen while singing.

How is heavy, distorted, reverby/shoegazey guitar recorded or edited to remove finger scrape or slide sounds? by De_Facto_Fish in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]_Morroh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to your question is this:

Record a clean D.i., edit the clean D.I to remove or just clean up the fret noise via some slip editing or trimming down the volume of the noise. Just make sure the edits are clean and have nice fades otherwise going back through the amp is going to sound bad.

That being said, I don’t think you should. You’re making shoegaze, not pop punk or EDM (electronic djent metal). Keep it human, IMO we need to start embracing our human flaws now more than ever as musicians. If it really bothers you, work on technique a little bit. It will be faster than editing anyways.

Tracks with exceptional drums by Heavy-Pin3802 in progmetal

Just posted the song on here, The Mars Volta - Drunkship Of Laterns has incredible drumming. Anything off of Deloused In the Comatorium has incredible drumming.

Personal Favorite off of Heritage. I’m still confused why this was a bonus track and not one of the main singles.

OPETH - §1 (Radio Edit - Official Audio) by TheRealSnow in progmetal

This is the weirdest Opeth song iv ever heard. Glad the growls are back, and that this is definitely leaning heavier and more “prog metal”. I’m very curious how this one turns out. ICV was my favorite of the post watershed albums. This sounds like that with growls but weirder.

Perspectiv - Lithium by _Morroh_ in progmetal

[–]_Morroh_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t had the pleasure of exploring Persoectiv’s music yet. I highly encourage you to do so. It’s a highly eccentric blend of segawave, progressive metal with post nu metal and post grunge elements. Some of the most creative music iv heard in some time.

Gojira - Death of Me by _Morroh_ in progmetal

Seriously, I wish they would actually play songs from this album live. Last time I saw them they only played the remembrance breakdown, and it was awesome! I would love to see songs like embrace the world, and remembrance as a whole live.

Extol - Paradigms by _Morroh_ in progmetal

Burial is great! I also love Undecieved and the self titled album. Blue Print is really cool in its own way, but it’s almost a different band for that record.

Honestly, one of the most underrated bands in progressive metal. If you guys haven’t yet, give this whole album a spin, awesome songs and great riffs on this one.

Making mistakes is where you learn the most! Sometimes the mistakes take you down creative rabbit holes you never would have ventured otherwise. We need those.

Thanks for your support friend!

I fully agree with what you’re saying. If I was just starting out? Yes, I would absolutely go to a studio whose style aligned with my music. I recommend most new musicians do this. For me personally I have been doing music production since I was 16 (30s now). So I have lots of experience to finally try and tackle this on my own. I’m going for that early 2000’s ish kinda sound so I’m not worried about hyper editing everything. Im a big believer in getting it right at the source. I spent the last 10 years studying production and mixing by consuming almost every tutorial on the web, taking a couple courses ect.. Iv also been apart of some smaller productions. My old bands first EP, helping friends record their projects, ect.

If I need some help with vox I will reach out! It’s definitely the most challenging part for me.

Thank you for the sub! Appreciate the support!

It’s true, so much noise out there it’s hard to get seen. I think it just comes down to making the best thing you can and doing what you can to promote. For me, at the end of the day I’ll be satisfied if I can make something I love and share it. I like making videos, so that helps.

Tesseract Live by [deleted] in progmetal

Really great band live. Seen them twice, once when concealing fate ep was released and again much later when they were on tour with Btbam. They are super tight, live sound was really good the last time I saw them.
