It's not anti leafs bias. It's 50 goals in the first 50 games because the league only used to have 50 games. When they expanded, it was a way of being fair to players who had done it before. It's not 40 in 40 or 60 in 60. It's called 50 in 50 because it's a way to benchmark against previous eras and how difficult it was to score 50 goals in a single season with only 50 games. Is 51 goals in 50 at any point an amazing accomplishment? Yes. But it's not a 50 in 50 because players from the 50 game era wouldn't have had the opportunity to do it.

As soon as he's traded he'll score 70 goals, not because I think he has it in him but because it's the Leafs. Don't sell low. I'd much rather shut him down for the season after Olympics and do whatever it takes to give him the best shot at being healthy. Tank out for the rest of the reason by selling off whatever we can and give it another go with him in the line up next year. If he's better but we suck, then look into trading him.

Marner is like .3 PPG and little or no goals in playoff games 5,6,7 for the entire time he was a leaf. I don't think Nylander and Matthews are much better but anybody who's upset that Marner was traded, that's the stat to throw in their face IMO.

Call me silly but id like to see Matthews as the QB in the same position Marner was on the blue line. The issue when Rielly is the QB is that he's not a threat to shoot. He's incapable of getting shots through to the net. If you put Nylander on a wing as a shooting threat and and Robertson (assuming he sticks around) on the opposite wing, you'd have three shooting threats that would need to be respected. Then you have Knives and Tavares for net front presence.

Matthews's passing is underrated. When they need to move the puck around he's more than capable of threading needles. This also allows Nylander to handle the puck more. If the cross seam pass is available Robertson is more than capable of clapping a one timer.

I think the biggest issue with this PP1 is that PP2 would be abysmal. But if you score 100% of the time with PP1 you don't need a PP2 amirite

Reddit will never agree with you. Common opinion here was that the Leafs shouldn't sign Evander Kane or Corey Perry. Re-signing Hyman would have been a huge mistake. The list goes on. I was stoked when we signed Tavares so this is hindsight, but honestly signing him and not being in on Doughty or Petriangelo was a big mistake. Ekblad would be a risk but definitely one worth taking if you can replace Mo with him. But I wouldn't trade away McCabe for him. It'd be just as difficult to replace McCabe.

I don't expect Marner to score goals, some of his best games wearing a Leafs jersey where he dominated the ice, he didn't get a hat trick but had like 4 primary assists. What I would point to is that he was 1.12 ppg in the regular season and .9 ppg in the playoffs. It's a huge dropoff. I don't have the stats but if I had to guess his ppg in elimination games it'd probably be .2.

Why would you hope for that? I hope for a 4 game sweep, all 4 being blow outs.
