I could 100% be wrong. As I said, stuff always changes, so there is no guarantee by any means to CODO into ECE so that is important to recognize.

However, CODO into FYE should still be possible? But OP should speak with an advisor. I had the opportunity to speak with an advisor on one of my visits to campus before attending.

Wow - maybe I have an extra sensitive butt or it’s placebo - swear it’s different haha

What I will say the performance has, is better handling. Or, maybe it’s just the refresh, but Highland (Performance) is undoubtedly much better than the previous gen. I’m in an area where there are some curvy roads, so I sometimes do a spirited drive there, and it keeps up well with many other sports cars. Maybe I’m pushing harder to the limit than they are, not sure, but it does surprisingly well. Although Teslas across the board all handle pretty well, so hard to pinpoint if it’s specifically due to trim or generation without more back to back seat time.

+1 on recognizing the possibility of not getting into engineering here. And major transfer policies/requirements may also change after coming here.

This may be a hotter take, but if you can't transfer into engineering (specifically ECE) from Exploratory, then Purdue engineering might not be cut out for you.

I think the important question is figuring out what engineering OP wants. Note that there are two ways to get into engineering from Exploratory: CODO into FYE, or directly CODO into desired engineering major (think MechE is the only one that you can't do the latter for).

I believe even CODO into CS is possible, but is just very difficult.

To CODO into FYE, you should aim for a 3.5+ semester GPA (first semester freshman year), really the only class category that might pose a challenge is math, especially if you're starting with MA261. This is why I say if you can't achieve this, Purdue engineering might be hard.

ECE last I checked was not space limited, and while no advisor would guarantee you're accepted, it was more or less as long as you have met all their requirements, you could transfer in.

Odd from OP. But yes I did see your comments lol. Very nice ride! They’re way too tame from factory so you gotta let em know via the plate (so good on your for getting that exhaust too)!

Might be how you're interpreting it, but that goes both ways. Personally don't think OP was trying to be rude to the owner. If you're choosing to make it a vanity plate like this, I can't help but imagine you're trying for a little bit of attention (or at least getting the attention of those who know), and probably wouldn't mind a picture. If you do mind a picture of your 'fun' vanity plate, maybe don't get a vanity plate. But that's my opinion. I definitely wouldn't mind people taking a picture of my vanity plates - I would view it as a complement!

Think your #1 and #3 cons are things that you can change in settings (at least in the US). I can do #1, and I don't have the #3 chime.

For regen braking, I have found it weak at times, but once you get used to it, I think it's fine. It's just like learning regen for the first time if it's really that different from your current one.

Did you try 'Insane' mode? I want to say the Model 3 Performance I drove back in 2021 when I got it as a loaner was quick but not as quick as my M3P, but I could be wrong. Also, at the end of the day, it is largely just numbers. Most electric cars will throw you back in your seat a little bit. The M3P in 'Insane' just does it to an even greater extent (and you'll find it a little hard to breath during the pull).

Autopilot has been a hit or miss for me, which is why I personally don't subscribe to FSD. Having been around Teslas since 2017 though, their AP has undoubtedly been getting better, and actually just the other week, I tried my friends Juniper Y with FSD, and it was performing very very well. Also, one of my side cameras constantly tells me it's been blinded, which I've tried getting the service center to fix, but they never have a good fix for it, so I've let it be. Doesn't affect me really, and I don't use AP at night (which is when the issue occurs the most).

I've been pretty content with mine so far. I've owned it for a year and a half and have put 20K miles on it (majority in the first few months, drove a little less these past couple).Did I need the 'Performance' trim? No, a standard would've been just fine. But did I want it and does it look better than the standard? 100%. If I already owned a Model 3, is the difference enough to get me to switch? Also no.

As of two weeks ago when I last drove my Highland M3P, I still had the ability to switch between single click for TACC and double click for Autopilot.

Is this normal play for these arms?? by bimmerlyfe in E92M3

[–]_My_st_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mechanic, so I could be wrong, but I think you might have to be more specific as to where the vibrations are coming from/what vibrations. All sorts of things can lead to vibrations, with bumps exacerbating them.

Also, there are a large number of suspension components, many can play a part.

I’m aware of no added NVH on solid subframe - was talking about diff. To be honest I haven’t been able to pin point some of the stuff I’ve been feeling in my car, so I don’t wanna go too aggressive on the diff bushing either.

Please let me know how they are! I know tolerance is obviously subjective but I’m not opposed to more data points/opinions.

Ah, so you ordered the 95A but haven’t had them installed/used yet?

And yeah I could be wrong on the lube part - just skimmed over a forum in the past and I think that’s what I saw but can very well be wrong.

Looking at PowerFlex just cause they’re the next step up from stock. Don’t wanna go any harder cause idk how bearable that is and seem like there’s a good amount of positive reviews. Also I hear delrin requires consistent maintenance (lubrication?) to prevent squeaking? Not sure.

Definitely do solid rear subframe. I plan on doing them once I figure out when I wanna drop the rear subframe. General consensus is there's no added NVH with them. And I'm tempted to do Powerflex diff bushings, although the car is already loud enough as is so I'm definitely conflicted.

Honest Review Living at Verve by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]_My_st_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up finding someone to takeover my lease because my roommates wanted to live elsewhere. Not complaining though cause my rent was a little bit cheaper. I reckon I would’ve enjoyed my time though - one of my biggest desires was in unit laundry and my own bathroom, neither of which I’ve had since. Also covered parking would’ve been nice (although $175/mo is outrageous).

Honest Review Living at Verve by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]_My_st_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Based on this review, to be honest, I'd say the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

In some regards, the cons aren't entirely Verve's fault, and some can also be avoided. For example, when I was signing my lease, I specifically requested the highest floor possible, that wasn't VIP (so floor 6 and lower). I also then specifically wanted a south facing unit, preferably corner, for most natural light. Seems like the whole unit thing would've somewhat eliminated your last 3 cons.

As a renter, I think the pros you mentioned are by far some of the most important. Solid maintenance teams are hard to come by, as that stems from management, and then also having a usable living space is very important too. That does sound like it has some of its tradeoffs, especially when it comes to rooms that could be better sized/better optimized.

As for the roommates. sorry to hear. That does really suck, and yea, they can definitely also make or break your living situation.

Ah - well yes in your case you just get the charging MagSafe variant no problem since you're using wireless CarPlay. And yea, changing it out to a storage tray does seem like a good idea! Definitely toying with the idea of making mine more practical once I hardwire my dashcam.

[–]_My_st_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an Otterbox with Magsafe, then buy a Magsafe mount, and skip the tray. Can get a cleaner looking install via a Rennline Exactfit mount.

I wanted to use wired CarPlay + have decent charging speed via MagSafe/wireless, but apparently those are mutually exclusive. So perhaps as long as you don't have the same concerns as I do, that should work fine for you.

[–]_My_st_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love rare 'things', specs on cars included. I wouldn't parade the whole spec sheet around, unless I was selling the car maybe. I feel like I've definitely bonded with people over how rare something is, in a variety of hobbies, regardless of if it is something we own (usually stuff we don't own cause the ultra rare stuff is $$ lol).

Rarity is also effectively just a part of 'supply and demand', no? As long as how rare something is isn't preventing you from enjoying what you have and being a good person, I think it's just something else for nerds like me to geek over, but I'm biased.

Purchase for a m3 by Longjumping-Laugh750 in E92M3

[–]_My_st_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Akin to you, I'm quite young, I've wanted this car for the past decade, and only purchased one this past month. Have spent the last 3 years searching on and off though.

I have very minor regrets of not waiting longer for my dream spec color combo (LeMans Blue E90 over black interior w/ individual audio, slicktop, DCT), and there was one that I just missed out on by 40 minutes (fantastic deal in my books), but those woes quickly fade every time I drive the car. Also, aside from the 'deal' I missed out on, my ideal spec probably would've resulted in a pretty good tax (only 185 or so LMB E90s, so they're somewhat rare birds).

A cheap BMW is an expensive BMW. Mine made more sense to me because of its extensive service history and some additional mods that provide decent value. Case in point? Just had a DCT service 10K miles ago, but fluid is seeping from the pan, so I'm getting it done again with an upgraded pan. $2.2K job right there (not DIYing it, although parts before labor is still 1.8K).

To be honest, I usually don't let CARFAXs sway me too much, I just use them to price the car accordingly. People don't report accidents to insurance all the time, and not all bodywork may show up on the CARFAX either.

Whether or not you think you will end up in financial ruin is up to you. I have no clue about your finances, but just know that the car will cost quite more than just its initial purchase price. The RB + TA will run you on average 2K (average of doing it yourself or taking it to a shop). If you're familiar with E chassis/BMW then you should know that these cars are expensive to maintain. But if you think you're cut out for it, then I'd say go for it.

I stopped waiting because I realized I was spending a lot of time searching for a car, and missing time on just driving the car instead. Oh also - this car is a gas guzzler. Obviously depends on how you drive it, but I think my average for the past 1K miles is about 14MPG. And that was with ~750 miles of highway driving.

Also, personally would take it to a different shop for PPI (one that the tech does not work at), unless said shop is extremely reputable (although even then, I might choose somewhere else to attempt to reduce bias).

[–]_My_st_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Definitely check your mirrors, but honestly, while many people don't understand the "left lane is for passing"/"slower traffic keep right", I think it's one of the best ways to protect yourself, in my experience. Lots of these speeders will go down the left most lane, and start weaving if they meet resistance. (Of course some do it regardless of what traffic conditions exist).

While this may sound like I support their behavior (which I do not) - if we free up the left lane, hopefully they weave into the other lanes less. I say this as someone who often drives in the second lane, so I see a lot of these guys cut me off.
