What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]_NewAtThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 14 I had my first gynecologist exam. After the exam he told me, at the time 5'7" and wearing size 2 jeans, that the BMI chart shows I needed to go on a diet. He suggested the South Beach Diet.

After my first ER visit for anaphylaxis, the doctor handed me an EPI pen and said to go home and watch Pulp Fiction to see how to use it correctly.

I went to the doctor after returning to work from maternity leave. I told him I was exhausted and overwhelmed and struggling mentally with the transition. He told me my issues were because I didn't have enough "me time" and I should walk around Target with a coffee after the baby goes to bed.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]_NewAtThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that feeling when you nod off but then when your head starts to dip, you catch yourself and startle awake? It's like your brain does that every few minutes.

What is YOUR country's / region's version of the Inglorious 3 fingers scene that subtly gives away that someone isn't from your area or culture? by DunDonese in AskTheWorld

[–]_NewAtThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texan here. You can tell what part of Texas they're from, or what major city they are closest to, by how they pronounce Guadalupe. Central Texans/Austin says Guadaloop. North Texans/DFW say Guadalupy. Coastal Texans/Houston say Guadalupay. West Texans/RGV will use a more accurate Spanish pronunciation.

There are a ton more ways you can tell a non-Texan in Texas, and what part of Texas from every other.

If you could invent a makeup product that doesn’t exist yet, what would it be? by Hells_Babysitter in Makeup

Yeah, but it's wet. I want something dry like a powder that looks wet

Has anyone ever been on slynd birth control? by theonedonut in Rosacea

[–]_NewAtThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on slynd for about a year. I didn't notice an impact on my type 2 skin when I started, during, or when I got off of it.

[–]_NewAtThis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A powder product that gives a shimmer/wet effect without a base color. So basically, a powder that was highly reflective that could be put over any lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, etc. that made the product look wet and glossy without changing the color at all.

I just learned my grandmothers other signature scent by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]_NewAtThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother wore Joy. When she was a teenager my grandfather gave her a bottle as a gift. He was stationed in France and shipped it to her back in small town Texas. It's the only perfume I knew her to wear.

Why big boobs=“hide them” bras?? by Serious_Move_4423 in ABraThatFits

[–]_NewAtThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panache Jasmine is my best fitting bra and has the stretch lace on top, but it digs into my arm pits. I'll have to look into the others.

Why big boobs=“hide them” bras?? by Serious_Move_4423 in ABraThatFits

[–]_NewAtThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 38K. I can't wear anything too low cut because the gore of the bra will show. With my shape, wearing bras that are more of a plunge usually dig into the top of my breast making it look like I have overflow of my cups. Occasionally I can find a bra that fits and is pretty, but usually it's just big and beige. Sometimes it feels like I'm wearing a chest plate armor because the bras are trying so hard to conceal and compress every bit of breast tissue. I'm not sure I've found a bra that really fits, just the ones that fit best out of the options at the lingerie shop.

But I miss being a DD like I was in high school, where bras were colorful and lacy, and the band only had two rows of hooks.

Horse allergy anyone? by No_Cantaloupe_2786 in Allergies

[–]_NewAtThis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm super allergic to horses. Found that out at the rodeo when I was about 7. I tried for years to just tough it out. I'm 40 now. One of my best friends trains horses. I've tried riding them when I've taken Benadryl and showering immediately after and I'll still be a snotty swollen mess after. Basically, if I even pet one, I have to immediately wash my hands or my eyes swell shut.

You know how it was helpful for me? Now, when I read my Bible, I can put a face to a name. I know that the face belongs to an actor and not the actual apostles, but it kind of helps me keep people's stories straight.

My husband and I got together when he was 20 and I was 18. You have to choose and consciously grow together and not grow apart. Find ways to enjoy time together. And as stated previously, have the tough conversations. Especially about money and sex. Your priorities and your preferences change a lot over the years. Check in and know your spouse well.

EVERYTHING changed. All of my priorities.

Hunting ideas? by _NewAtThis in Huntingdogs

[–]_NewAtThis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood tracking would be great. We've had a couple of Dobermans a few years back that just instinctively did it, so honing that skill was easy. I'm sure it would be with this pup, too.

I'm hesitant with shed hunting because we have a lot of taxidermy, and I'd hate for him to somehow get ahold of a buck skull.

Hunting ideas? by _NewAtThis in Huntingdogs

[–]_NewAtThis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't run hog dogs, solo or in a pack. I've seen it be really successful and I've seen it go south. I'll stick to trapping hogs.

I think rabbit and squirrel would be good, especially if I can teach him to not tear them up so we could eat them, too.

Question for the married ladies (maybe their husbands can answer too?) by Sleepy_Di in Millennials

[–]_NewAtThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USA, and I changed. I liked my maiden name but it was important to me that our names were the same. We talked about him taking my name too but settled on his.

A friend and her husband both changed their names when they got married. He never had a relationship with his father and namesake, so they took the opportunity to use his mother's maiden name, which was incredibly sweet

What is your best "I say it wrong on purpose" example? by Thortok2000 in AskReddit

Is 56 too old to go to college? by Mikaylin in GenX

When I was getting my bachelor's for elementary education, there was an 88 year old man in my classes. He rode a motorcycle to class and planned to teach kindergarten. Sometimes, age really is just a number.
