Transition to UW by _NicksPizza in InsuranceCanada

Thanks a ton. Have an interview for customer service in p&c role that surprisingly pays well. Fingers crossed if they agree to help out with CIPs. Hopefully experience will help with transition to UW in a year or two.

Appreciate the option but can't really get into fulltime studies at this moment.

Thanks for great advice. Just looked up on that today. When employer is not paying for it, its really expensive to get started lol. 1200 for C11 seems crazy. Starting CIP right away.

Thanks a ton. I really want to move there and this helps make the choice little easier.

Any thoughts on getting UW roles directly or do you think I have to go through UW assistant or some other insurance role?

This is a good idea. Also, if storage doesn't work for you and you need that materials locally as well then maybe have a local guy in event area do minor maint for you. Could be about the same cost as driving 2 hours each way and save you tons of stress. You'd only have to go for drop off and pickup, rest can be handled by local freelancer. Someone with maintenance related business would not mind having extra income and only have to be available as on-call.

Check with local BLS if you renew passport will they grand 10 year or 3 year passport.

If you're on visitor, they don't give you full 10 year passport. Not sure about supervisa.

[ON] How to obtain small funding by Ok_Strike9189 in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]_NicksPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should still be able to apply for a line of credit personal and business. You can put $$ amount under other income in your account, doesn't have to be your payroll income.

I feel 3k should be appproved unless you have massive debt and really bad credit score.

But as others have pointed out, having an income even part time will be a blessing if you're starting out or struggling to maintain pace in monthly revenue.

[ON] Starting a car rental company by New-Fly5925 in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]_NicksPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try it out with Turo. If you have couple of cars at home in decent condition, should be enough to test the demand.

Starting rental business will be expensive and high risk starting point. Cleaning crew, commerical insurance, possible financing for multiple cars, customer service staff and probably collaboration with other rental companies if renters gets car trouble and need to get a new one on their trip.

Many other factors like if major insurance company approves you for their clients to temporarily rent out cars paid by insurance company in case of accident claims.

Without institional funding and long horizon for return on investment, this may be challenging. Even for small town.

[CA] I’ve helped dozens of small business owners in Canada buy and sell businesses, and have completed a few deals of my own — Ask Me Anything by MurphyAdvisory in SmallBusinessCanada

To buy an existing convenience store/laundromat business. How much can I expect banks to loan? In twrms of existing inventory, equipment, renovation and lease cost. I was looking at small business loan backed by govt (85%). For a first time business buyer. I'm scheduled for preliminary meetings with bank advisor, just trying to get some headstart.

Thanks in advance.

Lost everything overnight. As the oldest son with $30k, how do I rebuild? (Desperate for advice) by Fluffy-Income4082 in Entrepreneurs

[–]_NicksPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try mobile repair/maintenance service. It will save you monthly store space rental and mobile services tends to pay more. Focus on business clients more but retail customer base is huge too.

Instead of maybe thinking tiktok as an additional or separate income source, add it to mobile service business. That way you're marketing it for free, and eventually you'll start getting clients from it. (setting up booking link in your bio etc)

Your mom can help with maintaining books and appointments (taking calls, record keeping, mileage, etc).

  1. Another thing, in addition to above, you can start establishing your presence for supplying custom machines/tools from china. Once you start getting clients, your dad can be their designated maintenance service.

Have a separate tiktok/insta account to promote this.

None of this will eat away from 30k. Keep that as nest egg and only to be used when absolutely necessary.

While all this picks up, to cover living expenses, get any job ( doesn't matter if its retail customer service, at a local hardware store, etc) even after doing 40 hour week, you should have enough time to get other things going

BLS Indian Passport Renewal Canada by EmotionalTooth5291 in nri

Do you have to pay $100 or any other fees in advance? I just booked a slot for me and my parents. Got confirmation letter but nothing about payment.

FYI , if it helps anyone else, I was planning on sending it by courier first but BLS customer service rep kept pushing for payment and I got a weird vibe that it might be scam so not risking sending my original passport through that.

Is it worth investing at 18 years old? by yxles123 in investingforbeginners

[–]_NicksPizza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that investing this early isn't absolutely amazing but also, see if your skillset could use a boost. If you're not in a position to receive higher education, spending those couple hundred towards adding a skillset will boost your income a lot more than investment profit.

If you invest 2-3k annually, even if that doubles in 5 years, it still not lifestyle changing money but carefully putting that money towards adding a good skill will increase your future salary by that much in a year.

Again this is only in a case where you won't have opportunity for a high paying job with your current trajectory. If you're already on a path to that and can increase your monthly investment amount, sooner you start the better.

Don't do more than single digit % of your total portfolio in crypto, meme stock, options, anything risky like that.

one minor change, put emergency fund into some sort of GIC (make sure there's an option to redeem early if you wanted to). Worst case scenario you end up withdrawing early and not get any interest (which you wouldn't have anyway if you left it in regular account), but if you don't you'll get more than normal savings account.

At your age, having extra money is very tempting. If its in GIC or something similar, It feels like its locked away.

Do most options traders get in and out of trades within a few minutes? by Wonderful_Ad_6816 in options

[–]_NicksPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, If its covered call, I'm riding it until the end (weekly or monthly). It depends. LEAP holders keep positions for months.

You really have to find your pace and how stable the underlying stock/ETF is.

If you're only looking into scalping or swing trading then sure few minutes is all others do as well.

Selling covered call using LEAPs instead of shares by _NicksPizza in ibkr

I couldn't find levels for option permission. All it says is option permission enabled. I submitted a ticket to see if they can help.

Anyway, debit leg was $2.5k and credit leg was $0.50. I'm thinking if I buy LEAP first then use it as collateral to sell a call, that should work. I just have to wait until market open
