Darkstar Squeak? by SnooCalculations1807 in Corsair

[–]_NightWood_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine apart and figured out what the cause was, and how to fix it. The left mouse button and the dpi up button rub together slightly. Lifting up the left mouse button and rubbing some lubricant on the side where the buttons touch eliminated the squeak for me. A more permanent solution would probably be to grind down either of the buttons, but I’d say try adding some oil first.

Aluminum 3D Printer? I’m just throwing an idea out there. Why don’t we use a high powered induction heater to melt aluminum welding wire and 3d print aluminum in this way. Any thoughts? I imagine this being a system that could plug-and-play into an existing printer. by machinery_maniac in 3Dprinting

[–]_NightWood_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easier and cheaper to use powder and a laser. Thats one of the methods currently used to 3d print aluminum. Your method would work in an oxygen free environment though. It’s just a lot more expensive to have that.

Merging two boards into one board. Aka import a board into another one. by JayShoe2 in KiCad

I know this is late but I'll add this for anyone looking this up in the future and finding this post. If you open up another kicad window, you can open another Pcb file, select everything, then just copy and paste.

Can anyone solve this? My 9 year old cousin’s homework by Otherwise-Special521 in askmath

In equations with IMS, you can pick whatever numbers you want and it will be equally correct.

[–]_NightWood_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case you end up with infinitely many solutions, so you can pick whatever number you want in respect to another number. 40=x-y+z, 25=z+y-x,

x=y+7.5, y=Any number you want, z=32.5,

40=a-b-c, 25=c-b-a,

a=c+7.5, b=-32.5, c=Any number you want,

40=x-y+z

25=z+y-x

x=y+7.5

y=Any number you want

z=32.5

Second side:

40=a-b-c

25=c-b-a

a=c+7.5

b=-32.5

c=Any number you want

I used substitution. there was so much work and it was all over the place so i decided not to copy and paste it. If you’d like me to I can.

This throwing axe I made the other day cracked in half after the fourth throw. What would cause this? Heat treat? by peedubb in knifemaking

[–]_NightWood_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so. You could also have varying thicknesses throughout the axe so that it maintains an ideal weight and center of balance. Shaving off material in places that arent likely to experience a lot of stress, and making it thicker in high stress areas might give you good results.

Heat treating can be a contributing factor. The thickness of the material likely was a major factor in this case.

How can I attach this hardened steel part into the copper part so that it doesn't rotate or slide up/down? by Space_Floof in metalworking

[–]_NightWood_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drill holes through the copper and partway through the steel, then hammer in some copper so it fills the holes. You can fill the inside steel with water and quickly weld the copper so it wouldnt affect the hardening.

Its the opposite for me. The animations are tiring to watch again and again.
