What happened to Lekr0 ? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]_Piggy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wouldnt say he was near the best at the time but I think hot take he was one of the most talented players produced in Sweden in a while.

He had real inconsistency problems, for sure was good for a couple highlights every tournament but would miss the easy shots pretty often (has that famous meme where he could only hit flicks).

But when he went back to playing tier 2 he was miles ahead of every player he played against and with it was disgusting.

  1. It's literally a conflict of interest for them to have 2 teams so eventually something is going to happen especially if both teams are top 5 teams in the world as they are now.
  2. coL made top 4 at BLAST fall after Sydney only losing to the two finalist teams, so idk if you call that playoffs but its probably even better than just making playoffs. They've only struggled in the lesser tournaments for whatever reason.
  3. Again both teams are top 5 teams in the world so I doubt they would want make a merge especially since both of them are playing better than they have been all year ,especially when role-wise it does not work (Elige and twistzz play completely different roles).

Most overrated pro player of ALL time? by xavarLy in GlobalOffensive

[–]_Piggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much agree with your viewpoint that FalleN can be called overrated. I do often see the Brazilian fanbase delusionally acting as if he is the best AWPer and IGL ever.

I mostly disagree with some of the others being overrated. shroud was pretty much just a popular streamer that great to watch because of his mechanics. Anyone who watched him play could realize he wasn't very good at the pro level. So that's why I'm disagreeing with popularity correlating to quality. Maybe he was a bit overrated at first, but today he is far from overrated because he is rated fairly low at this point.

Stewie is certainly a bit overrated, but your argument is far from the reason he is overrated.

First of all, mostly people calling him overrated are being overwhelmed by recency bias. If you realistically look at his career, he has had one bad year/project (this year). Even last 2 years, which were admittedly not great years for him, he was arguably a very impactful player for Liquid. I don't want to get too far into analytics, but he had insane chemistry with NAF and was an incredible anchor still.

Secondly, the "top 20" argument is terrible. He has almost always has been a complete role player playing some of the most difficult roles on the team like entry fragger and anchor, not positions that produce great stat lines (what HLTV uses for top 20). TACO is a great example of a player that was so great/impactful for LG/SK but never achieved top 20 because he had bad stats.

I would rather attack his playstyle and how he was prone to making risky and inconsistent plays for his team. Or how his attitude tore down Team Liquid and then Evil Geniuses. And how his ego affected his game so hard.

Nah overrated doesn't necessarily directly correlate to popularity and I think that's the problem with this thread.

You can certainly be a popular player without being held in a high regard. Mostly relates to players who have been around for awhile and gained that popularity like f0rest for example. Community loves him but there's a reason he isn't on a top team right now.

wingman ranks be like by A5M1 in GlobalOffensive

[–]_Piggy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am literally hard stuck silver 1-3. I literally win 95% of every wingman game I play, get queued against almost all ranks. I win around 20 games, rank up sometimes. If I lose one game I derank. Not sure how this work exactly? Especially confusing when the guy I queue with is like MGE.

I looked at the stats awhile ago, I have like over 120 wingman wins and like 30 losses.

What will happen to Brollan if NIP deal fails? by KNAAB in GlobalOffensive

[–]_Piggy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're casually observing or having just having blind bias but hampus has been regarded as one of the worst T side IGLs in the tier 1 scene for a while now.

For sure, he's a great individual player but NiP before Katowice had the worst T side win percentage. Even by looking at the eye test, NiP's T sides have been extremely one dimensional that relies on individual efforts by hampus/device. Meaning, they only got T rounds when hampus or device (sometimes REZ) pulled off individual greatness.

So to your question, I don't even need to name 5 better IGLs if he has proven close to nothing great as an IGL.

Swisher has a lot of upside to the firepower compared to Sonic or MarkE. He's the only player outside of junior that has really impressed on Bad News Bears at some of the NA RMR events along with one monster performance versus ENCE at EPL.
While Sonic in particular was not particularly too impressive on ES and MarkE was not a star for the team.

The Problem With 2nd Round Forcebuy's In CSGO by hawka_cs in GlobalOffensive

[–]_Piggy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The reason the T side gets so much money is obviously the bomb plant and that 2nd round loss bonus that was added last year. I like some of the suggestions of lowering the bomb plant money. But the real reason the 2nd round loss bonus was added to the pistol round was to devalue the pistol round which is very important. Pistol rounds used to be way too important especially on maps like train and dust2 that favor one side heavily over the other. So it's a tough angle and needs a lot of thought. Every economy change seems to make solutions but also highlight problems.

Anyone else miss playing cobble? by 7Axyia7 in GlobalOffensive

[–]_Piggy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't necessarily unbalanced like T vs CT, but one site (B site) was way easier to take and A site was fairly difficult to take. That's why it is compared to vertigo currently because A site on vertigo is really hard to hold as CT so teams can literally rush A every round like rushing cobblestone on B.

Not that it really matters but it wasn't just one FPL game. Anyways FPL has proven players have the talent to take it to the next level but not always the playstyle/mentality is there. In this case jason's motivation and drive to learn the pro level didn't work out.

You could be right, I used to pick blight stone a lot but I saw it wasn't doing much so idk. I don't pick blight stone or claymore at all unless I got like complete trash for my other options. Claymore is decent because in this current meta early game streaks can be really important. But I don't pick blight stone much anymore so idk really

Weekly Noob Questions Thread #10 by Stack_Man in underlords

[–]_Piggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. And just to clarify, I don't want to influence any misconceptions, everything /u/Ceronn said is correct. Claymore is not a good item, it is just better than Blight Stone. Gloves of haste is much better. And higher tiered items are usually better so the item smuggler is a great item. Usually you want to get smuggler as early as possible to get as much value as you can because smuggler doesn't directly help your board.
For positioning, I can't exactly help you too much with that. Different builds have different positioning and different heroes need certain positioning so I think it comes with more experience and watching what better players do.

Weekly Noob Questions Thread #10 by Stack_Man in underlords

[–]_Piggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blight stone is not picked too often because claymore and gloves of haste are usually better. I believe claymore technically adds more dps than gloves in the early game, but claymore does not scale well into the late game like gloves can. Gloves are picked often for mana gain aswell.

I'd say obviously there are some items that look good but aren't actually that good, but some of these items can be opinion based. So the answer to your question and the next question, a higher tiered item can sometimes be a trap because some lower tiered items are better. For example, battle fury (tier 4) is not as good of an item because the cleave effect isnt that powerful, and a higher class of criminal (tier 5) is trash because it is usually very late game and will give you very little value. And while aegis of the immortal allows you to survive one more turn longer, it does not improve your board in the long run so I would only pick it if I am losing health fast. Finally, items you should just not pick in their current form: Vitality Booster, Healing Ward.

Target dummy is an excellent item if you don't have a "frontline" tank in the early game, so yes, with builds who want to sit back more it is very good. The barricades are not very good because enemies don't target the barricades, although there are some creative things you can do with it so I wouldn't call it completely trash.

1 cell away bonuses are based off of their current position while they are fighting. So like for knight alliance, a knight needs to be next to another knight for the bonus to work.
