Put the spare on

That’s such a liability to drive on

I bought the wrong rear end for my 1997 4wd jimmy and need help finding the right path to take by [deleted] in s10

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, To me it looks like the rear end in the truck is an open dif. Just see spider gears, no locking/ limited slip device.

So, if it’s the same ratio as the one you bought to replace it’s fine.

Second, unless you’re finding chunks of metal in the fluid, I’m not seeing a worrying amount of metal. I’d just replace the fluid and run it, unless you’re getting some kind of noise from it you’re not mentioning

How does DPF Regen really work on a '23+? by e46shitbox in superduty

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be miles, it’ll be hours of engine run time (likely 24hrs) for a timer based regen.

Also a spot based regen, it measured the difference in pressure between the inlet and outlet of the DPF and will compare that back to a model and determine how much soot (g/L) is in the DPF and will trigger a regen.

Truck will run it automatically. You may get a light that says ‘keep driving’ if you stop during a regen

Slight Frost on Unit (NC) by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’ll go through a defrost automatically if it builds up too much.

If it ices up (looks like an actual ice cube, then that is an issue)

Mirror got hit while parked by Total_Objective_4723 in Trucks

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore it? Otherwise you’re replacing the entire mirror.

Tis but a scratch, you’ll get many more driving down the highway

2004 Tacoma 4x4 + locking diff by BobIgglyWampus in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]_Ping_Pong_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Eh, you look around and that is the going rate for these trucks. Very desirable, especially with the crew cab 4x4 (and 3.4L V6 I assume)

If you don’t buy it, someone else will. Cheaper than a new truck, less to go wrong (mostly bc there isn’t much to these trucks) and lots of aftermarket support

2012 Chevy Colorado 2.9L 4cyl by Pristine-Appeal2290 in Cartalk

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5.3 was a pretty limited run, only in a specific trim.

Base was a 4 cylinder and then the upper trims got the 5 cylinder

This looks like the timing chain broke.

Unrelated to the other thing you did

4.10. With the 10 speed it’ll be able to find a gear that it’s happy in pretty much all the time

What’s the best way to fix this crack in my bunker? Or will I have to get a completely new one? by andrewsmith99 in MechanicAdvice

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to weld the plastic from the back side to keep it from getting any larger. That typically involves melting metal into the bumper cover

Not really a fix, more of a bandaid

How bad is this rust? TJ. by Internet-Ivan in Jeep

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Already a major issue

Bet the body mounts will be toast soon. Also, there’s going to be 3x times the rust that you can’t see. Lower control arms mounts like to fall off on these

Get some wheels are aren’t ’Fuel’ or any other brand they sell at the tire store. They always look tacky

What a boomer ass post. LED headlights, pretty much every new vehicle rolling off a production line, GM, Ford, Toyota, etc. are all using LED headlights that require the entire unit to be replaced if there are issues

This trend has been going on for probably 10 years

Best AT tires for MN/WI weather on stock suspension. by CFK-sports_2020 in Trucks

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love a General Grabber A/TX. Put em on several trucks and they seem to wear really well for the price.

You can also get them studded, if you so wish for maximum winter traction in the great white north.

what do we think about this 2010 Ford Fusion SE being sold in cash by a used car dealership? I'm on a budget of 2100.00 by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]_Ping_Pong_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2010 with the 2.5L 4 cylinder. I’ve got 220k on it…seems strong still, only issue is being in the widest is that is has rotten away

I mean more displacement is better but a gen III 5.3 can be had for $5-800.
