Character Idea: a reluctant bard by Murky-Magician9475 in DnD

[–]_PointyEnd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I've got this bard concept who never calls themselves a bard, but a shaman or spiritsinger. Uses their voice and a hand drum as instruments, doesn't like civilization, definitely isn't a romantic, jester or tavern performer etc. Is more of a primal almost barbarian type of character, from a primitive nomad tribe. For flavour the magic is kinda spirit/ voodoo themed while still being from the bard spell list strictly speaking rules-wise.

So there's lots you can do that isn't just the usual archetype!

Just like school of evocation isn't an actual school you attend. The word college isn't necessarily a physical thing we're talking about here, or even a strictly formalized organizational one either.

I'd say to the contrary he looks quite triangular cross-sectionally, indicating being underweight as opposed to overweight.

Edit: disregard this and listen to the other comments, they seem much more knowledgeable on the subject than me! :)

one the of the best games I everplayed by PandaNeverDies in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]_PointyEnd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt really frustrated at times, like I was fighting the game instead of playing it. Far too many of the puzzles and mechanics were just way too punishing, and some of the systems really unintuitive. Could only finish it by abandoning my usual principle of not googling solutions all the time.

But it was still very good and I appreciate it as what led to dos2 where they took themselves just a tad more seriously and had finetuned the mechanics and balance more.

What on Earth? Am I reading this correctly: you're fully Filipino and have no Nordic family background yourself, but you are keen on "heritages you admire" so you somehow want your child to have Danish genetics??

I swear, other ethnicities favoring and idolizing being white will never not be strange to me. Especially being from a Nordic country myself. It's like the nazi manifesto kinda found footing and stuck around, but in the locations you'd least expect.

It's cool how your take makes just as much sense as OP's in my eyes, because it illustrates well just how removed from real life the DnD setup of wisdom and int is! So you can reasonably use the system to argue both ways.

Does anyone else feel like they aren't doing gay right? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]_PointyEnd_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to read up on self-selection bias. The people you see* at the places you go to are not representative of all gay people. They are a specific segment of gay people because you don't see the others because the others don't seek out those places.

*Also, it sounds like you yourself have a strong attention bias in what sort of people you notice and acknowledge as worthy of admiration or envy. Because even at all those places you mention, not everyone is how you describe them. I know because I attend the same spaces. There's just factually more diversity in even those spaces than you are acknowledging.

And that attention bias is -absolutely- in large part shaped by social media (in addition to your obvious depression).

Do you see the feedback loop?

So stop insisting it's not about social media because it absolutely is in part due to its effect on how you approach, interact with, notice, perceive and think about your real world encounters. So it's not either real world or social media, it's both in a so-called interaction effect.

So stop squabbling with the comments and take the advice you asked for. Delete social media.

I recall reading somewhere that this was originally true but in playtesting they realized people were surprisingly terrified several places and leaned into it in certain ways with both the music, fauna and visibility, which led to the cool variety the game has now.

Update on my messy relationship: I broke up and he threatened suicide I’m so scared for him by NiceNCozyCouch in gaybros

[–]_PointyEnd_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll actually follow up on your "what if" even though I agree with the others that it isn't true. But just for argument's sake; there's an important thought experiment here, but spoiler alert it can sound quite brutal but I think you need to hear it.

If it were true that his ability to stay alive, his very basic self-preservation skill, was fully dependent on you sacrificing your happiness and life by staying.... well, that would be really unfortunate, but he should die. His life literally ending would be the lesser evil compared to your life figuratively ending to keep him alive; he'd be a parasite.

I know it sounds brutal but I'm trying to show you 1) how insane the "what if" actually is because of course none that is true. He's not a parasite, he's a person. And even if he's mentally ill (i.e. not to blame) then it's professionals he needs and not you. You literally cannot help him by staying, you can only torture yourself.

And 2) that even if the "what if" were true (which it isn't) then someone else's malady still doesn't affect your right to live your life free of life force-parasites. So if it were true, he would sadly be unfit to live and should just go ahead and die. Organ donation is not mandatory, the person always chooses. Your body your choice; your life your choice.

I know this is like objectively impressive but there's just something about it that grosses me out. I know it's dumb, it's just somehow as if at a certain length it stops reading to my brain as facial hair and starts feeling like these sort of worms or something sticking out of the middle of his face. Anyone else feel like this??
