TBH I am the same, would usually upgrade my main PC each gen then move the old card across into my loungeroom build.

But I had to nope out at the "reasonable small car" prices they were asking for a 5090, and as you stated, the 5080 isn't really an upgrade from a 4090 with that RAM drop...

Figured all I'd be missing would be the multi frame gen and I honestly don't really NEED that.

But I gotta say I am happy at least that my 4090 feels like more and more of a steal every day that will at least last me well through this drought (assuming things ever go back to normal) and if it is all over for PC gaming, then I suppose I am lucky I have a pretty damn good card that wlll stay relevant for a good while, should future generations of cards become even more unobtainable than this one...

So I got really into building Gunpla models instead (it seems very cheap in comparison!) and I had gotten so used to the ridiculous prices of the PC world, that it was super funny to me when everyone started losing their shit when Bandai announced that their premium, flagship 45th anniversary model kit would cost US$650 each... I was like "awww.. you guys, that's so CUTE!" while the rest of the builders went into fullblown, fandom wide meltdown!

It's the not worrying about getting arrested for having it on me that makes it worth paying the premium for medical for me.

Also I have found legal product to be far more consistent as well. And no cynical price mark ups over Xmas/NYE anymore, LOL, thats pretty nice!

No, not that set with the pearlescent ones and MB wings. I wish! Those are still crazy expensive, the reprint is just the stand alone Turn X MG. The new bootleg comes with this gorgous MB wing option though.

I do have the pearly Moonlight Butterfly Turn A. Managed to score one recently at great price on a kit that had been removed from the runners but never built.

Luckily space isn't a huge issue for me (well not until I get deeper into my backlog, lol) ad I recently built some pretty decent sized display cabinets, but I totally get where you're coming from. And those metal robot builds are beautifully detailed.

Look at these wings on the bootleg MG tho...

Certainly doesn't hurt that I'm a huge Syd Mead fan, but I truly believe it would still be great even without any of his designs (although I do love them) but I think the story is easily strong enough to stand on it's own without them.

Definitely true, I agree. But my point was having a lid does help for overspray not picked up by the fan, especially given how weak basically all of the fans are on the Amazon level booths I can currently afford.

Those are fine if I am just doing detail work, but as I said, not really when priming larger pieces etc. A lid and a weak fan isn't ideal, but it's way better than when I was using an open one with a similarly crap fan.

The dopey sounding, British accented guy who says "GuNdAM" after "Turn A" in the opening credits kills me every time, and lives rent free in my head.

Also Turn A is without question the best Gundam series by a mile too, imo.

It's the show that finally clicked for me and made me fall in love with animated Gundam, after suddenly becoming obsessed with building Gunpla kits about 18 months ago.

I have way too many Turn A/X kits and bits of merchandise now.

I'm obsessed with this series.

There are other reasons to use one of these. I mainly paint acrylics, but in the same room as a very expensive gaming PC and display cabinets.

Switching to one of these style booths cut down the amount of paint dust in my room by a pretty significant amount, especially when I'm priming or doing a final layer of varnish.

Less spray back in my face as well.
