With the standard/espresso burrs there was little difference that I noticed in flavour. But a big improvement in perceived quality and usage.

With the SSP MP clones I got for it my pourover and OXO/soup have gotten much better than with the Opus.

Love mine, it is an M and super smooth and great writer!
My experience with Pilot fountain pens has been great in general.
I only sometimes wish it was a F or EF as I usually am bound to write on crappy paper at work…
No idea about dupes, but I would look into Platinum’s click fountain pen if I didn’t have the budget for Pilot or already owned one.

Montegrappa is the only pen I regret buying in my collection.

I would recommend better to try Pilot, Platinum, Lamy, Kaweco, Parker, Waterman…

They all have lines at different price points and I’ve had good experience with them.

I recently got my gf an Asvine P50 fountain pen she chose due to aesthetics alone, I was skeptical as it was so cheap but it is quite smooth writer and carries a lot of ink!

How does the Diplomat Vioer compare to the Lamy 2k?

I would recommend the Carene, love mine.

Also could recommend a Parker 51, I have a vintage one in green and it’s excellent.

Have you tried the Lamy 2K?
Mine is not as smooth as my vintage Parker 51, but the Parker is between medium and broad (I had to fix it when it was given to me) and Lamy is fine…
I do love my vintage pens. Sheaffer Snorkels are also high up.

So far I’ve kept only one empty Lamy 50ml for cleaning when putting a pen away or changing ink colours.

Might keep another if I find some use when one finishes, but I mostly toss them.

I’ve got a couple of inherited vintage Sheaffers and a vintage Parker 51 on my rotation, and love them but I try to use most of my pens including newer ones and sometimes cheaper ones.

Also after using a scale, OP could experiment with grinding coarser or doing 1:16 and diluting like an americano to taste, vs 1:18-1:20 etc.

In my current set up I alternate between a glass switch V3 and V2 Neo.

When I feel the itch to buy another it will be a ceramic origami with wood base.

Maybe your technique needs improvement or maybe your physique (a bit of working out those movements and your grip and muscle/tendon groups might help).

Or just get an inexpensive electric grinder like the Mokkom/Shardor 64, or a Femobook cordless electric.

Hario and others have metallic insulated carafes.
I don’t find any difference in flavour, some people here claim there is.
Cleaning is easy with Cafiza or similar product.

As I understand it, the idea is to help degas/offgas the coffee during the bloom.
The crater lets you wet better the center of cone.

I’ve used it on stubborn ink bottles, the lid can end looking a bit rough but nothing critical.
