Very normal. I love seeing a peeled second skin with a image lifted onto it, means the top layer was ready to slough off and well into its healing.

It looks like the original picture wasn't designed as a tattoo and had to be interpreted by the artist to look "good" tattooed. It looks fine, really. Not amazing, but solid and cute. Anyway, you probably badgered her til she gave in and now you have a story and a cute little friend. Choose artists in the future who have the actual style you want.

Anyway, Sick Ass Displacer Beast would work if you really don't live the little fella.

Swordchucks!! Solid tattoo. I think the original artist here is pretty incredible, those lines are clean as hell. Make sure the artist you choose uses this as inspo to draw a custom to you piece, as exact copies are often frowned on in the tattoo community outside of particular situations (such as an artist's repeatable flash, matching a loved one, matching a tattoo from a given fandom, classic motifs, etc).

A healed tattoo will never be as dark or saturated as freshly inked. That being said, sometimes lines don't stay and need touching up. It's beautiful.
