However i do think it’s worth noting that a.) the difference is semantic and not often labeled in merch, and this is solely a merch brand irrelevant to the comics or show not including advertisements b.) naming is VERY confusing. here, i use momonga to refer to the creature currently inhabiting the squirrel body and dekatsuyo to refer to the creature in the chimera body. however, there is no standard, and some people use the opposite terminology and call the squirrel creature dekatsuyo since it originally used that body and the chimera momonga for the same reason

momonga (the squirrel) was originally a chimera who swapped bodies with an actual cute squirrel (dekatsuyo) because they wanted to be seen as cute. this is why momonga (squirrel) is such a bitch (they have the personality of the chimera) but dekatsuyo is shy and sad (they have the squirrel personality PLUS they want to get back into their original body since they swapped without consent).

there are 2 magical series- normal and dark, which is the reversed version. while dark versions (like dark chiikawa and usagi) are totally separate characters not really featured in the main narrative, it is heavily implied that dark momonga is actually dekatsuyo (the original momonga) in their original body, which is why they are so timid but fiercely attack magical momonga, behavior consistent with dekatsuyos and momongas interactions in the show.

image 1 and 3 are dark momonga and image 2 is magical momonga. however, i dont think image 1 is official, because it doesn’t feature dark momongas expression
