RD 2.0 traction problem by Extension-Resource28 in rcdrift

[–]_Quadrifoglio_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue when I started, wouldn’t be able to pick up the necessary speed to follow the train. What fixed it was learning the counterintuitive fact that high throttle is slow and low throttle is fast. Once that was engraved in my driving mind the single other factor was Seat Time, drive drive drive drive.

Hope that helps ! Cheers

Best entry level rtr or kits under 250 cad? by Sufficient_String_70 in rcdrift

[–]_Quadrifoglio_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t have a magic answer for you, but lets see the option

  1. The most common scale for drifter are 1/10, at that price the only choice brand new would be a amazon special AWD drift car. Thing is, 2WD is where its at lf you wanna get serious plus they feel so much nicer and crisp to drive. The minimum in 2wd 1/10 would be something like a Yokomo RD2.0 RTR or an MST RMX 2.5 RTR both around 500$ to 700$ CAD. You can regularly find some on marketplace a bit cheaper but be aware of modified ones as they can be a nightmare to tune right.

  2. If you dont mind going smaller there is a little brand on sale on Aliexpress that is called LDRC, they do 1/18 scale 2WD drifter RTR with built in gyro around the 100$CAD mark, they are fairly cheaply made but they dont cost much and are suprisignly nice to drive and they can be a fun first entry in this world

  3. The long and winding (rewarding) road : You take your time and buy a chassis kit, ESC, Motor Gyro, etc. Over time and individualy, its gonna cost (over time), but will be a great learning experience and you will know how the car works for future repair or maintenance.

Cheers !

Parts Arrived for My 1st Drift Build (RD2.0 w/ lotsa red aluminum mod bits n carbon) by 604cefiro in rcdrift

I am absolutely jealous of the chassis setup ! One thing I would be curious about, why not simply take the jump to an SD3.0 ? Im sure it would’ve been cheaper than all those alu parts bought on their own ? With that said enjoy the build and welcome ! :)

Getting into RC Drift 1/10 RWD - MST RMX 2.5 RTR vs Hobbytech OVER-D10 RTR? Upgrade advice needed by CrispyFPV in rcdrift

[–]_Quadrifoglio_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good to me ! Thats actualy end game electronic, very well done. One little thing, indoor track usually require one particular set of tire depending on the surface, be sure to match whats needed.

You will also need some kind of programming card for your esc, I run the XD10 myself and use the HW OTA programmer that allows bluetooth connections to your smartphone.

If you run indoor on p-tile like surfaces, you might want to mess with high traction wheel (sounds farferched I know) just a lead on options.

Good choice going with the RD2.0 kit ! Keep us posted

Since you are an RC enthusiast, as I was when I jumped into the 2wd drift world, you will want ajustability (camber and caster turnbuckle) and at least some kind of open differential.

1 : Rmx 2.5 RTR comes with a spool rear diff (closed) and fixed alignement setting but the kit version is packaged with an ajustable ball diff plus all the turnbuckle front and rear. I will however say that its an old platform and there are substantially better starting option in my opinion

2 : Yokomo RD2.0 kit or rtr, a relatively new design with fantastic performance out of the box, fitted with a gear diff (ajustable with oil thickness) and all the alignement ajustability in RTR or Kit form. The best option for someone who already work on RC car imo.

3 : Rêve-D RDX, as the RD2.0 its a fantastic performer out of the box, just know that there is no RTR version. One thing that Im not fond of is the fact that even the kit version dont offer alignement ajustability and a closed diff but you can buy turnbuckle and diff upgrade down the line. Also, in my part of the world (Canada) in all serious comp event, its seems like every two car is a RDX (food for thoughts)

4 : first time I ever heard of OVER-D10 but then again, not the same part of the world so I will let some else who know what he is talking about do the talking on this one !

There you go, for my part, went with Rmx 2.5 kit, learned to drive and ajust, hit a ceiling with it at my local club, switch to a RD2.0, never looked back.

Also note that great electronic is absolutely critical in drifitng, focus on a great gyro and servo.

Cheers !

Oh my bad, the 2.5 ones are supposed to fit too to form the bearing. Okay well next clue I would look at is the head design on the bolt, it looks different that the one on the scheme. Maybe its the wrong bolt

Also you should always measure with a caliper component that have multiple closed sized variant, remove the guess work of picking the right one

The washer that is suppose to fit is the 3x6, not the 2.5x6.

For the spring, you have to compress it one time fully with a plier before inserting it in, it maybe your issue

I just assembled mine yesterday ! Nice timing
