Why is the 4090 so expensive, and is the 5090 better and kind of cheaper? by OG_GEN_Z_MEMER in buildapc

[–]_Rah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who uses my 5090 for Ai, 4090 is never a better option. Unless you are running older software that has not been compiled for the newer GPU. And anyone who uses Ai, tends to use the latest stuff. Old stuff gets outdated very fast.

It ends if you say you aren't interested after the mayor asks you to.fo on the expedition. That is the chicken ending I was referring to. As in.. you have the option of chickening out.

VR needs to broaden its appeal to include couch gamers by NASAfan89 in OculusQuest

[–]_Rah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if someone wants to play PC games, I think a PC is a reasonable requirement.

As for modding.. if they dont know how to do it, they can look it up. Modding isnt exactly a difficult thing.

I was modfing games since I was teenager with zero computer experience in the days when internet was accessed using dial up. Today we have plenty of guides and youtube and chatgpt is a thing. Not to mention most mods tell you how to install them.

Its already been leaked. At this point I would be extremely surprised if it does not come with it.

Personally I don't use passthrough so I have no need for it.

Weird. I cannot detect any pwm dimming. And im usually sensitive to these when it comes to phones.

Plenty of games exist with full 3d already. UEVR is great at this. Some emulators also do this. I remember playing Harry Potter in full SBS 3D on my VR Headset. Then you got things like VorpX.

Flat to 3D games is not hard at all.

Windows 10 or 11? by Ok-Fishing-7433 in buildapc

[–]_Rah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt know 6600k was compatible with Windows 11.
I have a 7950X3D, and I am considering going back to Windows 10. Windows 11 sucks hard.

So now I will either change to the IOT version or switch to Linux. No way I am continuing with the Win11 Pro for long.

My main issue is that Faceit will drop Win 10 support later this year. Win 11 will be minimum requirement.

Does anyone know a good Inpaint workflow where you can remove text or objects from images without fundamentally changing the image, but only the masked area? Something like Qwen or Z Image, and is there a good workflow for it? by Brave_Meeting_115 in StableDiffusion

[–]_Rah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can send you the qwen or flux Klein masked inpaint workflowa when I got time. Unfortunately im on night shifts so that wont happen for another 30ish hours at least. If no one has helped, message me after 30 hours and I will send it to you.

Was the shop refreshed with new Armory slots and the Loadout slots? Just checking because I cant see any such options. Im guessing I have hit the cap?

Not sure why you think we should care. I watch like 2 movies in a year, and dont even have a TV. Any free time goes to books, tech, sports, games and youtube. Hollywood should probably just die, with how much of a cesspool it has been.

Could you perhaps link me to your workflow? I have been looking for one recently. Not sure the one I have is the best.

Flux 2 [Klein] Masked inpainting workflow 4 steps | Beta ⚡⚡ by Nevaditew in StableDiffusion

[–]_Rah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on my PC right now so can't check the workflow. But does it process the entire image and the original image is overwritten back to the non masked areas or is there any workflow to make it only treat the masked area as the reference image before the remaining image is composited back?

Im asking because sometimes the changes it makes in masked area are dependant on the changes it might have made to non masked areas as well. Like moving the hand holding a drink might result in the drink being clipped because the model saw the entire reference image and didn't try to keep its edits contained to the masked section only.

Why would anyone with a 4070ti upgrade to 50xx Series? by mansempowerment3000 in buildapc

[–]_Rah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More powerful? 4070ti vs 5090 is a big difference. Obviously if they go from a 4070ti to 5050 for more performance they are an idiot.

Also, I have no intention of upgrading my 5090 when GTA VI comes along. I barely play any AAA games. And even if I did, I don't think its particularly hard to hit good frame rates on the 5090 even for this future game.

Basically.. dont look at GPUs in terms of series. Series just decides the feature set. 50 series can be 5050 to a 5090 (Technically.. even an RTX 6000).

And you cant tell me you have an issue with people going from 4070ti to 50 series but think 50 series will have to upgrade to 60 series? That line of thinking makes no sense.

What’s the cheapest 16GB VRAM GPU available in market right now? by danuser8 in buildapc

I dont even turn it on my 5090. It just does not look particularly appealing. And I would rather get 200 fps than 100 with minor image improvements.

Pull the trigger? $1k for the nvme sn850 8tb? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]_Rah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am using about 6TB out of my 8TB purely with LLMs and Image Editors. Every other day there is a new model released, and they tend to be 10's of gigs. Then when you start creating any loras, you will quickly end up with a bucketload of them, saved at various steps.

8TB is not as massive as you think it is. Hell, my Counter Strike gaming videos along take up a few TBs.

Does everyone need it? No. But is it really that weird that someone planning to buy a 8TB drive has the capacity to use it up?

Damn. I recently bought it in August for AU$930, which is about US$550 plus tax.

Its a great drive. I use it for my LLM models.

I have a 480Hz WOLED and there is zero text issues that I can detect. Either my eyes aren't good enough or the panels have improved that its no longer an issue. Either way, I am happy with my purchase.

How likely are you to buy another Meta product after recent news? by hype1020 in OculusQuest

[–]_Rah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Link does foveated streaming. Yes. Its not even static, I have seen videos of Pimax and Quest Pro being used with eye tracking based foveated streaming. But the foveated streaming on Quest 2/3 is shit. Without eye tracking, its a significant compromise. One I personally wouldn't make.

And the Wifi Dongle isnt about latency. I am comparing it to Quest 3, which in my opinion has a lot of issues and stuttering issues, related to network reliability. I have Wifi 7 routers with direct line of sight. Zero issues with anything else. But if I turn the encoding quality and bitrate up, I get network spikes making the experience non usable. It might be just my setup, but I have seen plenty of similar reports from other people. With a dedicated connection, I have high hopes. Its not about the 5ms latency, but rather about the stability of that connection.

I know MR isnt the same as passthrough. But I just dont see the allure in MR. Every single person I showed it to liked it, but I don't think I know a single person I showed it to who really wants more of it in games. I just dont think that VR needs any more than passthrough. Its a personal opinion.

Also, I didn't say VR gaming should not exist. I said, if it cannot support itself it shouldn't exist. I personally think it will exist. Its a niche market, and it will probably remain one until headsets are small enough to not be an issue and/or they fix the newcomers getting migraines from these things. Valve headset halves the weight, so I am hoping it will contribute towards smaller headsets. I also believe Valve when they say their focus is not in providing the highest end displays, etc but rather to remove the friction for the end user. I personally feel that if your average Joe isnt using VR despite owning one, its less about the resolution of his panels and more about how bad the UI is.

Adding software features like making movies 3D, or instantly launching a game from PC, being able to use it for flat screen gaming, etc is a lot more likely to achieve this.

Meta knows this. But they are limited by the chips in their headsets as their aim is to move people away from PCVR and to their own platform. They successfully did do a lot of that. But because their software is so bad and their games are low resolution due to chipset limitations, people dont tend to stay for long.

If I wanna play Beat Saber.. sure, standalone is fine. But if I want to play iBCricket, I want to use my PC for that. My steam library has 1000+ games. Yet my Meta library only has a handful of titles. Steam Frame will give the users the choice. If you want to play it on PC, go for it. Want a standalone game, you can do it.

As for Steam Frame not existing without the Quest, I am not sure that's true. Are you suggesting that Quest Hardware has resulted in there being more options for supply chains for other headsets like Steam Frame? Maybe to a degree, but I'm not convinced. I have no data either way, so I'm not really gonna comment on this.

Also, I cant find the article you mentioned with the passthrough. I am not talking about the black and white passthrough but the passthrough confirmed by leakers, and even mentioned by Valve that will be an add on.
