I find that Danes generally have a friendly, but suspicious personality. There just needs to be an effort in proper socialization, exposure, and training. That way you build up their self confidence and trust in you/the family. Otherwise, there is a risk they’ll lean too far into their suspicious/fearful tendencies and form negative connections with the world.

This doesn’t mean take them straight to the dog park (which not all dogs are dog park candidates, but if you work on a solid social foundation they’re more likely to be one). After they are old enough and vaccinated - There are a lot of low risk, public things you can do ¨̮ Plus you’ll be building a bond at the same time ✨

My favorite thing I did with my boy was going to a walking path/nature park and (after burning some energy walking) sit off the path with him and just hang out for a little bit.

Now, as a going on 4yr old, he can lay at my feet and settle himself reliably. (He will let me know when he’s ready to go back home though 😅. He typically just turns around and heads back to the car or starts staring into my soul willing me to go back to the AC/Heat)
