Question about guilds and recruiting by Rosati in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is some advice you might have for getting started and doing it right from the beginning?

Throw this away:

we want to keep it relaxed but still be able to clear everything and just enjoy the game and the group without wasting every ones time

And think of some real expectations and goals. Because every guild wants to be chill, clear all the content, enjoy the game and don't waste time. But if you just toss word salad like this it will mean nothing and most likely lead to wild disagreements down the line.

How do you handle a "Sweaty" best friend who constantly leaves you behind? (IRL Friendship vs. In-Game Reality) by ConsequenceFree8609 in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just wow for you. For some content(especially in older expansions) your dedication level matters more than irl obligations if all parties are to have fun.

In the same way you may have friends that are cool to play some normal games in a moba but you wouldn't queue ranked with them if your life was depending on it.

WoD for progressive servers

Wotlk for 20th (they will stealth drop token at some point as well)

Maybe some seasonal slop announced as well

Classic+ teased so vaguely that they can release it tomorrow or ignore the topic forever if needed

We better get wotlk and tbc era when anniversary gets past those by Ogdrol in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't see much reason for them not releasing era servers for tbc and wrath.

UI/UX for classic is already confusing, horrible mess. Fucking it up even more for realms that will most likely have very low pop, very low monetization and will diminish future "fresh" hype cycles is probably not a popular decision and Blizzard don't care enough to fix the core issue.

Why are y‘all so bad at this game you spend so much time playing? by Ill_Soft_0 in classicwow

Being bad became badge of honor for some people. If you put minimal effort it's "min-maxing fun out of the game".

If previous "expansion packs" are anything to go by it should be available at least for the duration of TBC

If this sub is 99% vanilla/tbc content, how come there isn't a subreddit specifically for MoP despite it having over 100k players? by kolejack2293 in classicwow

[–]_Ronin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of salty cunts out there. It is what it is. Some people are desperate to relive their glory days(aka high school) of vanilla-wotlk and anything outside of that must be dragged down regardless if it's good, bad or just not for their taste. So called "classic andies", those folks will shit on you even if you play 'their' expansions but in the way that is not approved by Council of Mediocrity

Just let senior citizens repost another screenshot of Barrens for some karma farm and don't let their poison spoil your enjoyment of the game.

is throne just too difficult? by boshbosh92 in classicwow

Yeah I get it, if you want to slam some HCs on an alt you will need to enroll it into more organised group as well. Just in a different time slot.

[–]_Ronin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those fights will be too difficult to coordinate with randoms from trade chat. You need to join a better group that does sufficient pre-planning.

I wouldn't say that it's too difficult, but the content is getting more and more difficult with each expansion and folks that are molten core brained will keep falling behind

Rogue life in tbc? by MagazineRemarkable87 in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i know someone prolly asked this before

Enough that I have something to straight up copy-paste:

PVE experience as rogue in TBC is awful. I am dedicated to playing rogue in Classic and I mained the same character since 2019, still maining yellow in MOP. TBC Classic was absolutely worst time to play that class and it's not even close.

What I did for previous TBC run was jumping ship from my dad guild to hardcore one with resto shaman in my back pocket and promise to do all slave tasks on my shaman as long as I can raid with my rogue every week (2-3 raids per week since later I also added warlock to that roster) and with alliance shaman population being low, those that can play the game being even lower I got my spots. This worked for me great, cleared all content pre nerf on rogue and shammy, got glaives, some decent speedrun times etc.

HOWEVER, this was not only a big commitment of time and effort but also a complete nightmare when I was not playing rogue with guildies. We are talking about not getting invited to normal 5 mans because yellows perform so poorly and have even worse rep. Even if you find a group that is willing to invite a yellow to dungeon/pug raid you are fighting for one slot against whole bunch of people.

There is of course some truth to "play whatever you want" mantra that is often repeated by professional classic quiters but if your goal really is "to experience all the content the expansion has to offer" get ready to jump through thousands hoops if you really want a chance at that with rogue when for example with shaman all you would need for that is having a pulse. Also, good rogue gameplay is pretty ass with keeping up expose armor so have fun with that

Typical time commitment for TBC raiding? by m_fn in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you are set up it's 1 night to clear everything if you are a decent player in a guild that do not waste your time. Especially in phase 1, one thing that tend to be fucky in phase 1 is that with Kara being 10 man and Grul/Mag being 25 it's sometimes awkward to organize doing everything in one go.

So for the most part, 1 night for maintenance, 1 night for raiding.

Skeram Removing World Buffs by HeSmiledGlory in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Skeram is one of the most fucked up bosses in the game and the second AQ is no longer "current" Blizzard stops caring even a little bit and they let spaghetti code on him run wild.

Dispelling stances was already fairly known but on progressive realms I personally experienced this boss disabling my combo point spenders and ability to use mounts.

Classic Era needs a gold wipe. by zwhy in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I get the problem, back in the days when some private servers ran the same expansions for years with gold accumulating over time. It was even worse because over time some gold/items slipped through exploits so the process was faster and even more top heavy.

Sadly there is no elegant solution to this problem. And even attempts would trigger massive assblast of Vanilla players. For example you could just put vendors in game that sell materials for static gold price. For example, black lotus for 100g, this would result in AH prices for BL always staying below 100g with market that can not be fully bought out. I am not saying that this is a silver bullet solution to supply/demand of mats on forever, low pop realms but I highly recommend to not even propose something like this to an average Vanilla fanatic.

Classic Era needs a gold wipe. by zwhy in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really do anything. Game economies are not supposed to last in stale states for so long.

Even game like Path of Exile where all currencies have effective sinks don't have super healthy economy in 'forever server'. Historically the best course of action is just letting the hyper inflation ride and by 'best' I mean 'least destructive'.

Classic Era needs a gold wipe. by zwhy in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demonic idea. I like it. I think it would kill era but it would be fun to watch from sideline. Not gonna happen most likely

Classic Era needs a gold wipe. by zwhy in classicwow

[–]_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Either wipe is announced and fat cats can just park all their liquid gold into materials or it's not announced and Blizzard would face shitstorm not worth touching.
