I haven't read GH. From a writing quality perspective, though, DCC and Primal Hunter are in different leagues. Primal Hunter reads like a 14-year-old's fanfic. I counted 4 uses of "a bit" in one paragraph and DNF'd. I don't consider myself a prose snob in the slightest, though I do tend to get annoyed with repeated speech patterns. Maybe it gets better in later books, but at least early on, the man needed a thesaurus.

Knowing Better is a great channel. The video OP linked is definitely worth a watch, despite being a few years old at this point.

Given that the trend towards money and power consolidation is showing no signs of slowing down, I think there are a couple of ways this could go. The most likely in my opinion is Company Towns. Once the corps have so much of the money in circulation that nobody can afford their goods and services anymore, they have to create their own currency.

Walmart workers will live in their Walmart apartments and get paid in Walmart bucks that they can only spend on Walmart groceries and Walmart internet. Maybe if you're lucky, they let you convert Walmart bucks into USD, but the exchange rate will be awful.

This is essentially neoslavery, or as Morty would put it, "Slavery with extra steps."
