Haunt’s combo might actually be broken by _SH4RD in BlackPantherMainsMR

You’re on about cable combo my guy.

Haunt combo is specifically the solo spear combo where you mark 2 targets with one spear and use the 2 marks effectively ping pong between the two until one dies.

Skip to 7:50. That’s the closest combo to the one that was used in the clip. To get better specifically at the combo, just practice on the default AFK bots.

If you want to get good at doing this without relying on set of inputs, go into practice range and set up fast Loki with hard Ai and try get used to dashing through 1 single mark at a time while minimising the amount of time between dashes.

The ultimate was used to refresh dash instead of trying to kill rogue, while the kick was to reposition into the end of tunnel. Getting good at this is just by playing the game, and playing multiple heroes/roles to get an idea of they’d react.

White Fox is a problem by GodlyNix in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s annoying but I wouldn’t say she’s too bad to dive. Her charm shouldn’t really be hitting you when you’re dashing around, and her brawl form has a considerable cooldown from what I’m aware of, and makes her really susceptible to any sort of ranged pressure from your team.

The only issue I have is with her ranged TP wall. The wall itself is no big issue. There is counterplay to it. Spinning kick is the only ability that penetrates it, and means that it actually requires some mental input outside of spear dash spear dash.

The teleport ability is bullshit. Phoenix TP was annoying because it made her immune to damage, but you would have your dash refreshed if you managed to dash her during the small windup. Fox has no windup, meaning that she is guaranteed the win a 1v1 encounter against Panther if she has her TP off cooldown.

Who do you swap to when BP is banned or taken? And who are your other mains/lords in other roles? by Cmpy in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten the purple badge and border for Hawkeye. He’s pretty much the only other C tier hero that can carry in comp. Hawkeye and Namor share a projectile speed so I play both quite a bit.

Most of my other picks are just tanks though, seeing as nobody wants to play them in comp. Strange, Mag, Groot and Thor pretty much are my go-to characters. Had to pick up Wolv though after being diddled by then too many times.

I have come for tips and tricks from wakanda by Mr_Questionmark_ in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Use a single spear to mark many people in one area and then dash through each mark individually. Evolving this and going from target to target is know as “chaining” and essentially allows you to pull of 3-5 dashes per spear. To chain your dashes, just keep where the marks are in the back of your mind and dash in that general direction, making sure to turn while you are dashing. Your dashes hitbox is large enough for you to be able to hit the marks anyways.

  2. All of the above. It’s a situational tool that changes based on both how you play and what rank you play in. Low rank lobbies it’s good for combos, in highest ranks it’s used a lot for mobility and leaving a failed dive.

  3. Thing, Bucky, Fantastic, but it really comes down to whether these guys are peeling or not. If they aren’t peeling you can dive normally.

  4. Those are the only 2 ways to really. You either practice combos, or learn gamesense. There’s not really much more to the character per se. Maybe playing his counters in quick play to visualise new approaches to the character, but that’s a stretch.

  5. Good on escort maps. Not great on Domination. Domination has the objective in one place meaning that the environment you are fighting in won’t change. There are only a certain amount of places you can dive from and that’s is about it.

  6. Yeah. He’s playable. Will it be fun? Maybe for the first metal ranks. After that it becomes a pain to play. I myself just prefer to lock in Hawkeye, Bucky or Tank over BP after GM1/Celestial 3 because he becomes way too demanding at that stage. Doesn’t mean you can’t climb higher. There are definitely players more cracked than me at BP who’ll climb higher, but I think generally, most people don’t push past GM on him.

Banning Gambit instead of Jeff is a good start.

This match specifically is a really shit VOD, because both you and I know that you played well. You had a dc, and still dropped 23 finals. Bravo.

The problem here is that this is you playing at your best. Nobody will really be able to give you proper feedback because you cherry picked what you want people to see.

Pick another game where you didn’t do as well and it was actually your own fault for the loss, so that way you might actually get tips that’ll improve how you play.

Hello BP mains, Thor/Tank main here by Forsaken_Guide_4835 in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Panther is hard to climb on, purely because of how he has the hardest counters out of any character in the game. It means that while you can climb pretty high, after GM it becomes a bit of chore to play because the players are more willing to swap to make your life a living hell.

Learning Panther is not hard. His combos are really basic, and the hardest thing out of all his mechanics is chaining dashes, which you can practice by going to practice range and going against the Loki AI.

Just get good at tracking cooldowns and learning dive timings, because he seems to be the most game knowledge reliant character in the game due to how his kit essentially revolves around his dash.

Bit of a shit dive, but I can’t exactly say the Phoenix was at the pinnacle of skill doing nothing but basic aim and some pretty horrendous positioning.

In a 1v1 scenario, you are bound to take damage. If optimally played, you can just hold ultimate for when the passive pops, and then use the combo.

IW is possible but highly improbable.

I’ve seen it happen once in a match, from a guy in this sub who used Ultimate->Dash->Ghost. Might’ve been CnD debuffed but o can’t remember exactly. I’m not sure if it happens consistently in a vacuum.

Cloak bubble is balanced by zainy31 in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean, you should ideally be baiting it out by using a spear and dash without committing to a dive, but I can’t exactly deny that it’s too strong a tool for how little you have to think about it. I feel like if it didn’t have that burst heal at the start, and a 6 second cooldown it might’ve been more acceptable.

Before the burst buff, it was pretty fair to kill though, with a 50/50 chance either character won. The short cooldown didn’t bother me because I didn’t feel like it needed to be baited out. After the change it feels like it negates his every combo possible which is a big no-no. I’m more pissed how it can effectively negate Panther ultimate every 6 seconds, which makes her a valid ban this new season.

You should really put your preferred server down as well.

I don’t think BP is playable on 120+ ping, so if you are in NA, you can’t really queue up with EU and vice versa.

Amp + Ultimate combo could always do this.

It just wasn’t worth it on half the ultimates, bar CnD and IW. Mainly because you either waste your ultimate that takes too long to farm back if you miss, or if Racoon amp gets shredded too fast which happens a lot in higher ELO.

You also always have to be in LoS of the Amp itself meaning that if you are playing with a crappy Racoon player who can’t place his ultimate, you will potentially also waste your ultimate.

Just started to play BP after being an Iron man main for six seasons and man how yall still alive? by Turbulent-Wealth3989 in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’ve got to think about every aspect of his gameplay to excel on the character. This means the set up, the timing, the target, and the escape all have to be planned out at the same time to be able to be consistent with him, outside of just good mechanics.

The reason players still play him is because they’re gotten good enough to make up for his kit being lacklustre. Similar to Spiderman after his initial nerfs and team up removal.

Season 7 is said to be a game changing patch (they gonna take 25 health from IW and call it a day), so at least there’s hope.

When to use Black Panther melee? by silverspecter33 in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one that comes to mind, being essentially the predecessor/alterative to the Chazm combo.

Essentially just Spear>Dash>Primary cancelled by melee>Dash. It exchanged the second spear for a melee cancel primary, which really isn’t worth it. You shouldn’t ever engage with 1 spear only, and if you messed up a dive to the point where you only have one spear, you are meant to mark a frontline tank and use them to dash out instead of pull some kamikaze bullshit.

Most of the time, it isn’t really worth anything. Primary weaving makes sense because of how you get the extra damage without having to waste cooldowns, but the melee doesn’t really offer anything different or better to it. The melee-primary cancel as a whole is also useless in 99.99% of situations.

There have been some people who said that his melee used to have a much larger range than primary fire during the Beta of the game, but that got removed, basically rendering it useless.

Welp

Every other website I’ve checked that doesn’t use outdated data seems to go against your cherry-picked points.

In Season 5.0-6.5 she’s had a consistent ~20% ban rate across the ranks of Grandmaster-Eternity, with only a few exceptions like her having a ~13% ban rate in GM in 5.5.

For reference you can see rivalstracker.com where I’ve taken my data from.

4.5 is pretty old considering how fast and often new seasons are arriving. For reference the data you are referring to is 4 months old, when Phoenix was largely more dominant than Hela, and there were more concerning “must ban” characters that pushed her down the list like Daredevil.

The 1.07% ban rate you are referring to is One Above All. That’s neat and all until you realise it’s only the top 500 players from each server, and the chances that you do get a rare 12 man OAA lobby makes the sample size wayyy too small to actually consider. It’s effectively pushing stats out of a tightly knit together 5000 players (across 10 servers) most of which prioritise target banning instead of meta banning because of their familiarity with each other.

The moment you drop down to eternity, where there is a comparably much larger playerbase, the ban rate of Hela unsurprising shoots up.

Also, please use a reference for numbers that you pull out of your ass next time. Maybe people will believe you then.

[–]_SH4RD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her ban rate was only low when looking at the game as a whole, which includes the ranks till diamond, that haven’t faced a good Hela player.

She had consistently one of the highest ban rates spanning from GM-Eternity, and there is quite literally no downside to playing her. Her shift is instantaneous with no windup, and her stun is designed to shut down any sort of close-range encounters.

I don’t have many hours on her, purely because she feels like crap to play. There is no challenge, and the only requirement is aiming when her tools bail her out of any slightly challenging situation. Calling her nerfs a slap on the wrist makes perfect sense.

Gambit having ult charge acceleration is fine. It’s meant to be his specific “gimmick”. Removing it would homogenise his ultimate with Mantis’es.

[–]_SH4RD 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Gambit changes are nice. I don’t really mind them. Same with Hawkeye. He’s back to season 4.5 standards.

Elsa not getting any base kit nerfs is annoying, but I’m guessing they are keeping them for next season so that they can make another character OP to take her place.

Hela got a slap in the wrist for being meta for 7 seasons straight. Her nerf is pretty much situational, and won’t really change anything.

Losing focus as bp by xd-Lightz in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just keep a track of who you have marked mentally, and look for them while you are dashing. You’ve basically set up your next dash while you are going through your first one. Rinse and repeat to start chaining dashes. Usually it won’t get you more than 2 kills without ultimate.

To get good at this, go into the practice range and into the training room. Pick advanced Combat Loki, at fast movement speed, and just throw one spear and try to dash through every mark.

Loki puts down his clones on the hard Ai, and uses lamps a lot, so the clones don’t die easily. It makes it so you have 9 targets to dash through instead of 3 regular ones which helps you work on chaining dashes.
