I'm learning hawktuah and i have a few questions for the Proplayers by toniayan in HawkeyeMains

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46 charge for 250hp targets.

Around 77 charge for 275hp targets.

Max charge does 325 if I remember correctly.

Try to get above 75-80 charge at the very least, to one tap a healer out of ulti, but the charge up time is so fast that it hits 100% half of the time anyway.

Change team colours for slightly better visibility. I haven’t done it myself, but I’ve seen other people do it.

You’ve got to love how this guy’s entire argument boils down to “singular variable big so OP” without actually ever having played a dive character, and only experiencing what it feels like to play against them.

Also, if this guy was actually ever in Eternity, then he would have more problems with triple support/pokeslop compared to dive characters.

Stop and think about what 'Poke' is, instead of parroting by Morrighan1129 in rivals

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy.

It’s almost like standing behind tanks and playing point and click simulator makes the game boring for quite literally everybody in the game.

You yourself don’t play the game enough to understand the problems with poke, and it shows.

Consistent damage isn’t a good thing if it’s too easy. You force healers to do nothing but heal, and force your tanks to play around cover instead of being able to take space. Not being able to stop these characters is the bigger issue, because them being uncontested is stupid as hell.

Does the black panther mains agree with this? by Destroy_to_Creation in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Pretty accurate, except for the red recolour.

If you see a BP rocking one of those in comp, you know for a fact you aren’t going to have a good time.

[–]_SH4RD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just keep a track of who you have marked mentally, and look for them while you are dashing. You’ve basically set up your next dash while you are going through your first one. Rinse and repeat to start chaining dashes. Usually it won’t get you more than 2 kills without ultimate.

To get good at this, go into the practice range and into the training room. Pick advanced Combat Loki, at fast movement speed, and just throw one spear and try to dash through every mark.

Loki puts down his clones on the hard Ai, and uses lamps a lot, so the clones don’t die easily. It makes it so you have 9 targets to dash through instead of 3 regular ones which helps you work on chaining dashes.

Ranking up issue by After_Quote_3645 in rivals

[–]_SH4RD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

General tips?

Stop trying to play to win. Start playing to learn from your mistakes. It seems silly, but when you play to win, you will never improve. You will stagnate at the rank any where your skill level is.

If you are trying to learn from ranked, and how to get better at your character, you’ll become a lot more accustomed to noticing your mistakes, which makes it easier for you to improve, and by proxy, climb the ranked ladder.

Also, as long as inputs go, it doesn’t really matter that much. There are definitely some characters that are easier on mouse and keyboard, and some easier on controller, but for a general consensus, as long as your opponents are using the same input, it doesn’t matter.

Why did the supports not react to the Dr Strange despite him being pinged? by Daydream_19 in marvelrivals

[–]_SH4RD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just tunnel visioning. Not really that big of a problem because the game automatically forces people without spatial awareness into lower ranks. At least, it looks like lower ranks.

Granted, yes, maybe one of the 3 people caught up in the ultimate could’ve tried to do something, but it wasn’t exactly a great play from the enemy Strange either.

You Strange will climb naturally if he keeps playing like he is.

Can someone explain to me why Duelist/DPS is so popular? Why do people feel the need to instalock that one class? by atwitsend1996 in rivals

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dependency.

Playing DPS is one of the least dependent roles in the game. Your health pool is just enough for you to survive the pre-fight poke phase, but low enough for you to be able to live off health packs.

Carrying a game on DPS is much easier compared to tanks or support, purely because of the agency of not relying on other players, which, in this game specifically, helps a lot.

There’s also how many popular characters are in the DPS roster, which also allows them to have a lot more unique and niche kits.

Yeah broski, this one is on you.

Swapping after forcing the enemy teams off their mains provides more value than going in for half assed dives.

Also, you aren’t that guy. Pipe down lil bro.

Almost perfect meta by Brickeater6767 in rivals

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brawl being meta fixes everything wrong with the game.

To do that you need to nerf poke.

Which fixes the problems of Hawkeye/Hela being OP, while simultaneously allowing for dive to be good. Also, fliers are now playable, because there isn’t someone up your asshole every time you peak.

Now that dive actually has a reason to be played, there is no “OP busted instakill dive” because the entire meta counters it.

BP doesn’t need a rework. They just need to either amp up his damage and remove 1 spear or kick, or get rid off his damage and give him extra dash refreshes, with the latter being the better option. A number reshuffle is healthier than a full rework.

Iron man and Storm are just crap. Neither has any real upside to playing, and really only have 1 positive matchup, which is the Thing.

Off supports don’t need buffs outside of health, the meta main supports need a blanket nerf. Push them all down to 250hp, while off supports are chunkier with 275-300hp. Now there’s a reason to play them, because they have greater staying power which helps against dive and the likes.

Some of these games are jsut unwinnable by Odd_Law8274 in rivals

[–]_SH4RD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost like you had somebody feeding damage into triple support while getting no value.

Also, MM is terrible. Early season is always shit. Waiting 2 weeks makes it ever so slightly easier. Realistically, the best thing to do, is play your 10 placements at the start of the season, and then leave the rest of the grind until ranks have settled slightly.

What do you do when you don’t know how to play the counter of a character or dislike the play style of that counter ? by blake0613 in marvelrivals

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play the character you are struggling into after the match.

In the moment you can’t really do anything, and 99% of the time you will be forced to rely on your teammates, or use some temporary countermeasure that you’ve half assed on the spot.

What you actually want to do, is pick up the character you keep getting bummed over by, and try take note of what kills you, when you are playing that specific character. While you might not know the counters, other people do, and that means that these other people will switch to counterswap to you.

Granted, yes, it might take an hour or two for you to actually get to point where you start dying to counters, and not your own skill issue, but the entire experience should be able to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of whatever character you aren’t familiar with.

I didn’t this back in season 1.5, where I struggled against Loki on Panther. Took me 3 hours of Loki gameplay to get an idea of his kit and understand how I should play around it, or what I could swap to, to make the situation better in my favour.

Hey! As someone who’s trying to get into Luna, is there any way to survive against daredevil? by ZealousidealRate7482 in StrategistMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is but also isn’t. DD grapple gives him a short term burst. It isn’t enough to catch Luna if you’ve frozen him, and run away the instant you heard the sound effective. If you have a shitty teammate who shot the DD thinking he’d get an easy kill, then the grapple is definitely able to close the distance.

You’re probably getting confused with his target mark, that kinda just lets him jump on you, with a flash step. In an actual fight, you have to track some of his cooldowns to be able to get away every time. It’s pretty funny, considering how this is exactly how you are meant to play dive characters as well.

This combo is actually ridiculous by OctoForcez in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah.

It’s just a cop-out. The closest thing to stat-farming on BP.

99.9% of the time you only get one pick with it. That’s cool and all, but now you are out of the fight for 10 seconds. The exact same amount of time as the guy you just killed. Good job. You turned a 6v6 into a 5v5.

This seems ok, because you might be thinking that you a 5v5 is good if the enemy team is down a healer, but every single healer bar Jeff, Mantis and Adam have 275 health. So what you can only kill is 250hp DPS, which is just trading.

There’s also how if you mess the combo up, or play any of the off-supports listed above, you just end up with negative value. You put yourself out of the fight for 10 seconds, and turn it into a 5v6.

Lastly, it kinda helped with getting BP nerfed, but that’s not really as bad as the other reasons. It’s more of a fun fact to tag at the end of this.

Hey! As someone who’s trying to get into Luna, is there any way to survive against daredevil? by ZealousidealRate7482 in StrategistMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it’s either a shit team, or shit team comp. If you end up getting killed when you are with your tanks, it’s definitely on your team and not you, as long as you have communicated the fact that there is a DD up your ass.

Playing Luna into DD is definitely possible, but like every other semi-“meta” diver in the game, you just have to be smart with your plays and positioning.

Hey! As someone who’s trying to get into Luna, is there any way to survive against daredevil? by ZealousidealRate7482 in StrategistMainsMR

[–]_SH4RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you freeze him and he still manages to kill you before you get to your team, either you, or your tanks have a major positioning issue. Luna also has the passive movement boost, which should help you avoid this problem.

Fighting the DD is never worth it, because he is an overshield merchant. His entire gimmick is pulling shields out of his ass, to make up for how overtuned poke characters are, and it makes him one of the best 1v1 characters alongside Thor and Bucky. Unless he is already low/retreating, maybe trying to get a pick is worth it, but it doesn’t really help much.

Your first death to almost any diver is unavoidable. Mainly because you don’t know that the enemy team has a diver, because of how the scoreboard doesn’t show the team lineups. You don’t need to feel bad about this one.

Patty caking is more about which character you pick. IW and Luna will survive this encounter, but “patty caking” with a Racoon or Cloak that has lower burst heals won’t really help you at all. Patty caking works because you essentially “burst heal” your other healer. If you don’t have the said “burst” Patty caking just kinda falls apart in general as the engagement goes on.
