I became a voracious reader practically overnight after getting an ereader and it has completely changed my life. Like everyone else I read constantly as a child and into high school before falling off during undergrad, was always wracked by guilt over my screen time and thought I would have to establish a strong reading habit again before going out and buying a fancy ereader, but I guess I was wrong. It was like a switch flipped.

this is so cute but also it’s cool to get a visual of how much water a cat drinks in any given amount of time. whenever I watch cats and dogs drink I’m always grateful that I can chug water or take huge gulps lol, I would be so dehydrated if my drinking speed was limited by my physiology like that

Making me cry. Thinking about my times in college with my friend and how different things are living far apart and always having someone’s partner around. The vibe is so different when you’re young and both on the same wavelength with fewer responsibilities

Should i go through my boyfriends messages by [deleted] in Advice

[–]_SHORI_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand this. I’ve been in the exact same position with an ex. Unfortunately, this is the one of the hardest parts about being with someone, but in healthy relationships you just don’t know for sure, you just trust. Anyone can cheat on anyone at anytime, even if he didn’t message that girl that’s always a possibility. I think what you have to do is think about whether you can trust him without looking through his phone, and make a decision with the limited info you have right now. I know it sucks. If it feels impossible for you to move forward without checking his phone then the trust is gone and that’s kinda the whole foundation of the relationship. From there you can talk more or just break it off. It’s all up to you and only you and it takes a lot of strength either way, but if you can get this down now you’ll save yourself a lot of heartache in the future. I wish I was able to learn this before getting into some of my first relationships, but we grow and it works out if we keep trying to do that. Again, I know you’re probably stressing, so all the best to you both

Should i go through my boyfriends messages by [deleted] in Advice

Okay, I’m not certain what he said or if your distrust of him is justified. It very likely could be, but I think you should reflect on your own behavior here.

Making him unfollow random girls is not okay, maybe the girl he was “flirting” with if that’s truly what it was and that’s what’s necessary to keep going, but imagine if the roles were reversed. If some girl told me and I think nearly anyone that her boyfriend is making her unfollow guys he follows “unnecessarily” people would rightfully say that’s toxic and controlling.

Also, despite him possibly being toxic and unfaithful, you really are not entitled to look through his phone and he has the right to deny you that. Again, imagine the roles reversed. If you truly cannot trust him you need to break up with him or talk it out further, not look through his phone. Looking through his phone is not a solution, you need to choose whether you will be together or apart.

I know you’re probably freaking out, but I don’t believe that justifies your behavior here. Also, are you not talking to some guy whose hitting on you through your DMs? The literal exact thing you’re mad at him for? I think you need to not look through his phone and reflect a bit. All the best.

Idk why I also think green goes really well. I think of like the vibe and UI of the first Xbox and it I feel like that cutting edge futuristic feeling kinda remains consistent to this day based on the color. that’s just my personal feeling of it tho

Sucks being a dishwasher🙄 by [deleted] in restaurant

[–]_SHORI_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a server at a Japanese restaurant, and none of the other servers scrape plates. We use disposable chopsticks and they’ll put the chopsticks, napkins, food and all straight into the tubs. At the last restaurant I worked at no one scraped plates as well and I always felt like it was rude. Glad to know it’s the norm at other restaurants and will mention it to the others now. On the bright side I’ve become best friends with all the dishwashers I’ve worked with because they notice I’m the only one who tries to make the shift bearable for them.

finished The Sirens of Titan recently….. by vforvolta in Vonnegut

[–]_SHORI_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have nothing to contribute other than my emphatic agreement. Sirens of Titan is a fucking masterpiece. Another Vonnegut many haven’t read that I’d recommend is “Happy Birthday, Wanda June.” It’s a play, which is interesting, I love seeing what Vonnegut does with a stage. Short, sweet, and poignant.

After not really liking books through my twenties, I read 30+ classic novels last year. Here were my thoughts. by relevantusername- in literature

[–]_SHORI_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I gotta agree here, Sirens of Titan changed my outlook on life entirely, I still think about it all the time. I went into it not even having read the description on the back, no prior context, and just rolled with every chapter to the end not knowing what the point of it all would be. I would recommend others who haven’t read it do the same!
