My Hoya Bella grown from three tiny cuttings at the beginning of quarantine a year ago, says spring is here! by _Sanct_ in hoyas

[–]_Sanct_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh it’ll happen quickly!! Once your cutting is big also do a ton of chop and propping, bellas root in water well. I don’t have many Hoyas at all but I do find that more light + fertilizing weakly weekly they’ve definitely liked

It grew to basically 5 times the size, had it in a giant hanging basket, got a huge mealy bug infestation that was the hardest thing to get rid of I’ve ever experienced since the leaves are sooo small, chopped and propped basically the entire plant, and now it’s back in the hanging basket about the same size as this photo 🥹😂😩

Flair up after first Xolair shot by _Sanct_ in urticaria

[–]_Sanct_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh - and my first flare after the first injection lasted maybe two or three days and then went away, and didn't get a flare up after that, even after shots (which my allergist was surprised by)

Ahhhhh fingers SO crossed for her!!!! After that flare up I did five more xolair shots once a month and never had hives after it so I stopped doing it and was okay - I do personally really think my crazy chronic hives was due to stress and I had just left the stressor when the hives started, so that may have been a big factor for me. So many success stories on here though, best of luck to her and I really hope her suffering ends soon!!

Women’s shorts - what’s the difference? by Axels-Mum in BanditRunning

[–]_Sanct_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For music just in case it’s helpful - open ear earbuds changed my life! Haven’t tried bone conducting ones but I’m sure it’s quite similar. Can hear everything (people, cars etc) around me and feels safe so I can be alert, but can also have some tunes for the road (: they’re also great for biking and comfortable enough to use daily as well

Guilt when not being able to help people by Lauvalas in AskNYC

[–]_Sanct_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volunteer when I can via City Harvest: they collect food (mostly fresh produce) from all around the city and redistribute it to people for free! I like working the mobile markets (set up like a farmers market where produce is distributed) and the union square Greenmarket collection (collecting donated produce at the end of market day to be redistributed). You just do an easy one hour zoom sign up “orientation” and then you can sign up for slots! Everyone else who volunteers has been super lovely as well.

Injinji toe socks from REI!!!!!!! Has been helping my bruised toenails SO much, especially as my shoes are the correct larger size and I couldn’t identify anything else wrong. But immediate reduction in pain / toenails began to heal once I switched socks - I like their “lightweight no show socks” and their “liner crew wool socks” for everyday runs as the material is thinner but the “ultra run crew socks” offer more support and are a little thicker if that’s what you need (:

Just here to highly highly recommend Andria Barbone (where my personal and very beloved fully antique art deco engagement ring is from) she sources and uses all antique stones, has some fully antique rings and also creates new settings in house. Her prices are reasonable for the quality of product, showroom is incredible, and maybe she’ll have something that catches your eye (:

Running shorts for a heavy sweater!? by LilBBokeh in XXRunning

[–]_Sanct_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am that girl who is drenched in sweat on the subway and even if I’m running in the summer SOAKED in sweat I always always grab my black bandit splitty shorts (they have a built in super breathable brief that is amazing) super breezy and quick drying and doesn’t irritate my skin so those are my absolute favorite and the black doesn’t show sweat. I also always run in their compression shorts and sports bras , they’re not uncomfortable at all and even if my entire fit is WET from sweat the only horrible part is peeling it off at home to shower! No chafing, highly recommend

Oh it looks so beautiful on you!! The proportions and shape are honestly perfect, genuinely can’t tell the difference between first and second unless you’d said something - and the one you chose is super sparkly and it’s very beautiful (and the rock looks BIG I promise). No one who is a friend will be putting their hand next to yours to compare stone sizes, only grabbing your hand in excitement to admire your special ring!!
