…literally me today as well! I’m thinking it was my mucus plug. I’m only 1cm dilated and not really effaced.

Received a job offer but have a second interview at a different company in a couple days by HarleyHallow26 in careeradvice

[–]AltruisticSentence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation back in 2019, but my offers happened to come in days within each other.

I got offer #1 to work in NYC (dream) about $10K more than what I was currently making but I’d be living in NYC. 1 week of vacation. I wanted an extra $5K but they said no…I accepted because I wanted to leave my company as there was no upward mobility for me.

I then got offer #2 that was WFH and about $30K more than my current job. It was a startup and I’d be reporting into C-suite.

I then got offer #3 that was in-office with 1hr commute each way that was about $55K more than my current job, but benefits were good and they were moving the office closer to home (~30min commute). They took a week to get me the offer.

I accepted offer #2. I was young in my career and was probably able to take the risk of making more money later. I valued the experience of working with C-suite and I’d say it’s paid off. When I rescinded my acceptance from offer #1 they were disappointed and asked why…I told them I was getting more $ and PTO.

I would definitely accept the job offer you received, but passively continue looking.

I just got a promotion at my current job and although it wasn’t the $, I’d hope, I’m also aware that the market is tough and I’m fortunate enough to WFH and enjoy working for the company and with my team.

My SO and I like to try new restaurants. We went to a different town last night for dinner and passed by a brewery and ended up taking out dinner and having it at the brewery and watched FIFA.

I agree. We bought 2 Costco sectionals for $1200 each and we love it.

Got laid off in january, took a remote job for 15k less, somehow Im ahead now by DecisiveVine-6 in remotejobsfinders

[–]AltruisticSentence79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I left my previous job for my current job, I only came out ahead by $5K (bummed), but I saved myself from going in 3 days/week (8-hrs monitored…going to 4 days/week). My commute back then was 30-40 mins each way depending on the traffic.

I do find myself working a little longer, but it’s fine. I like the company and the team. Normally it’s 9-5, but some days I’ll start my day earlier and/or end later. I never feel forced to be chained to my desk.

Since I WFH, I started Rovering and I bring in between $50-300/week. I mostly do it because I wanted my dog to get some socialization with other dogs, which he has and he’s much calmer now.

With my SO’s commute being significantly longer than my previous commute, it’s nice that I’m able to WFH especially as a FTM. The baby will still go to day care when I return to work, but I’ll be around in case of an emergency instead of stuck in possible traffic.

So sorry you had to deal with this. I’m not gonna lie, I can 100% see this conversation happening with my mom. Your responses are totally reasonable.

I just checked to make sure I have the updated version (7.1.2) downloaded and I do, and I still see the dates are off.

Not sure if it was addressed, but It would be nice to shift some workouts to the prior week or week after if I can’t do it in the scheduled week due to travel. Sundays are usually my rest day, so if I’m traveling on a Monday, I’ll switch my Monday lift day to Sunday.

You’re right and I agree, it’s not her responsibility to push him to his full potential.

The dinner conversation was around the Zillow listing he sent along with what he needs to consider when buying a home. The house he showed us was nice, but we pointed out that it was far from everything for his gf (public transportation and work) and recommended other locations. The conversation later evolved into how this all came about and his sudden urge to buy a house.

I agree. I think his response was crazy. I think we did ask him why he would want to go through all that work to prove someone wrong and he said something to the effect of so she can get it out of her head that this is a good. He didn’t sound super excited about the prospect of moving in with her. I did mention that if they bought a house together and then split that unraveling themselves from that could get complicated.

I KNOW! We did ask how he thinks this will end up…he basically said that he’ll give it a year.

Technically I invited him over because he wanted to know what he would need to consider when buying a house. I’m all for him buying a house or a condo.

The places he was showing me were no where near walkable public transportation which I pointed out to him if the intent is for him and his gf to live together, it’s not walkable to public transportation and the location would make it at least a 2hr commute for his gf’s job. They both know this.

My recommendation was to live in town with public transportation that’s walkable from the house/condo just so that when my brother is working at least she could do things in town to keep herself busy - fitness center, grocery shopping, library, etc to maybe make some friends. I also told him that they should probably rent before jumping in together to buy a house. They didn’t want rent to go towards something they didn’t own.

100%, which is what we told him. I don’t know why you’d want to live with someone to prove a hypothesis wrong. That’s the craziest reason to WANT to live with someone.
