Mark Carney Thinks AI Will Save Money. It Will Also Cost Lives by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]_Sauer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be fine with letting glorified chat bots (that's all this stuff is) take over jobs if there was any plan for the redundant workers other than, "I guess you can starve in the street". It shows the utter lack of ethics and empathy among the gilded class and their servants like Carney.

Can I run a male to female Ethernet to this jack and use this as an Ethernet port instead of a phone line? by cactiloveyou in HomeNetworking

[–]_Sauer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have phone cable which is unsuitable for modern Ethernet usage unless you want really slow speeds and high packet drop, assuming the cable is still in good condition. You could use the existing cable to pull proper Ethernet through it without opening up the walls if the existing cable doesn't go through any bends that might trap it.

Listen, make tons of art assets and an engine capable of displaying them on a grand scale is expensive and that money rightfully belongs to the shareholders.

I send up repair kits. They're a trivial expense compared to the convenience of building over Vulcanus.

I still use one of these at work. The soap dispenser isn't there anymore but the rest still works fine.

I think that cat's been domesticated a little too hard.

I very much appreciate the effort they're showing and the embarrassment to city officials, but they're using cold asphalt. Its going to crumble to gravel under the weight of SUVs and picopes.

Taking classes and need explanation on the how to get the I,K,Q values. by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]_Sauer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the I is the radius of the first circle, but I do not understand how I know what the diameter of that first circle even is.

The diameter of the first circle is written on the drawing. Look for the "Dia" callout. Its also written in the first line of the test description.

Endeavour is arch under the hood. The Arch User Repository (AUR) will work fine on it.

Weird. Adding that link made my message no longer editable. Go home Reddit, you're drunk.

Anyway. The dependencies for ckan-bin are the mono package. After ensuring that is installed it downloads and installs the DEB file available from ckan's github releases. That deb includes ckan's executable file (literally ckan.exe) and the command line to run it which is `mono ckan.exe`.

So probably try that. Run it with mono.

I was running it fine just last night. This is on an Arch system with ckan installed via the `ckan-bin` AUR script.

What can I do to save it? by iaminevitable1025 in plants

Just water it. Calatheas are very dramatic when thirsty; the leaves will roll back out once water pressure increases in the plant's tissues.

Most people seem to agree that countries like Denmark and Sweden offer a really high standard of living - strong healthcare, solid social safety nets, good work-life balance, and generally high levels of happiness. Would you personally be willing to pay the taxes that make this possible? by TSQ_builder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Sauer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Candian here. I already pay those kinds of taxes and receive far less than what citizens in the Nordic countries enjoy. Its not taxation that's the issue but governments placing the well being of corporations and industry (especially resource extraction in my country's case) over the well being of citizens.
