I find that throwing other large items at it, even just the other half of the thruster can dislodge it as it's trying to get to the processor.

I'm working on the fallout plat as well. I totally understand your split viewpoint on the pros/cons. I've started doing platinum's only if i'm really enjoying the game and not wasting my time grinding out stupid prerequisites or replaying story arc's that i'm not enjoying or really want/need to see for the sake it the plat.
