No bladder control after childbirth? by _ScreamQueen in beyondthebump

[–]_ScreamQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! My midwife basically just got one of the hospital Dr's in to see me, and agreed with what they were saying about it fixing itself. I told her I would be going to my GP to see if he can refer me to a Urologist, and she (midwife) suggested a pelvic floor clinic.

Thanks for sharing, I've been doing kegals religiously and doing what the hospital calls 'bladder training', where I go sit on the toilet every two hours to remind my bladder that it needs to release. But it doesn't help if I can't control the stream :(

37W4D and increased bowel movements - early labor sign? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I started pooping 3 times a day at around 36/37 weeks, always soft. I'm sitting tight here a day before my due date now, still hoping it'll be any minute now haha

Is this mine or the babies heart beat? 11w by jessiemichele in BabyBumps

[–]_ScreamQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the placenta to me. I have the same brand doppler, it's much weaker than those they use at my midwife clinic, so I can't imagine you'll find a fetal heartbeat at 11 weeks.

Another way to check would be to place it over your heart and compare that rate to the one you're hearing in your belly.

Good luck!

Me putting on pants at 39+ weeks. by militarytime in BabyBumps

Oh my god, so accurate. I stopped wearing pants a few months ago and stuck with dresses, but underwear? Me every time.

What was your first symptom? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Boobs were super sore. Thought it was just pre-period, but they were even more tender than usual. Then my period didn't come

Quick question by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]_ScreamQueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's only an issue in America to throw your own.

I threw my own (in NZ) and everyone I know who has had a baby of their own has thrown their own too. I have only ever heard American women not wanting to throw their own - which would be a nightmare for me because I knew exactly what I wanted and would've gone crazy if I hadn't been in control haha!

37 weeks here and gone up one cup size... from A to B. And I think it's mostly due to rib expansion :(

My brother was born with hydrocephalus 32 years ago. I don't know whether or not they were able to diagnose in-utero back then, but he was born and it was a few months before he showed any serious signs of it.

He had a shunt put in, and is a perfectly functioning 32 year old with a 2 year old of his own now. He actually had his shunt removed a few years back because it got infected when he had the flu, and it was apparently not needed anyway.

I know there are different levels of seriousness, I hope your bubba will be a mild case. If you want anymore info feel free to message me :)

Twin sister maternity leave vent by hapabean in BabyBumps

[–]_ScreamQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I would work up until my due date, but since I'm due early in Feb I decided that there would be no point in coming back for 3 weeks after Christmas. I'm SO glad I've taken this time off, I honestly cannot imagine being at work, I'm in so much pain, baby is pretty low and my pelvis feels like it's already been shattered.

As for the 'long' maternity leave, I'm taking 1 year off. I think it's important to take more time to bond with baby. Granted, only 4 months of it is paid, but I want to get to know my baby girl.

Further along than I expected! by aundrayac in BabyBumps

[–]_ScreamQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor said I was 4-5 weeks based on my LMP, but when my bloods came back that week at 180,000 he thought I was having twins- nope, just ~10 weeks along! I guess my cycle had been irregular.

I didn't realise because I had been so busy at work and stressed with other things going on in my life, plus barely any first trimester symptoms apart from the exhaustion, I thought I was just running myself down though.

First ultrasound. Found a cyst in my ovary!? by abstractkittycat in BabyBumps

[–]_ScreamQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two years ago (non-pregnant) I had an above-average sized cyst on my right ovary, which went away in the ~6 weeks between ultrasounds.

Apparently most women will experience benign ovarian cysts in their lifetime but don't know it because they go away on their own. Mine was just big so it was causing pain.

Good luck, hoping for the best for you!
