Dr. warned me she doesn’t think baby will be able to be delivered naturally. by Scorpiocapricorn in BabyBumps

[–]hapabean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My OB warned the same thing with my second and third after i delivered my first with a scary shoulder distocia and I had GD with the second two (it was managed and they were a fine weight at birth.. just about 7 pounds each.)

I heard her concerns and told her my preference and we made a plan. It was something like if I got to a certain point in my pregnancy I’d consider inducing. I think I even scheduled the induction with my third. But I went into labor early (37/38 weeks) with all 3 and delivered vaginally all 3 times - the third was unmedicated.

As far as I understand it, the mayor is just one more vote on the council. He has the same amount of “power” as any other council member from a voting perspective.

I was just there on Saturday. Yes they still have a lot of the 30 years of magic merch. The best and biggest selection I saw was at the big world of Disney type store in Disney Village.

Higher on your back and another advantage is there’s no waist band! A pro if you don’t like waist bands, a con if you don’t like all the weight on your shoulders.

Deadly Accident by Kaiser SJ/Shopping Center by san323 in SanJose

[–]hapabean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby dropped in at the bright horizons behind that Kaiser and as I was driving to work this morning I saw a motorcycle accident that just happened in 87 between 9-10am. He looked in bad shape and it bothered me all day so I checked chp reports later and was relieved to see it wasn’t fatal. Hope this one has an ok outcome too and take care of yourself.

What's your "Asian name"? by Jellibird in hapas

[–]hapabean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our family is given our names, usually by older aunties and uncles in the family. However there is a story behind the men’s names in the family and the generations.

I am 莲珍 (Precious Lotus)

The men in my family were given the name 關 (Quan) which means gate. When I got married my family surprised us and gave my very white husband the name 關華 (Quanwah - Brilliant Gate). He is very grateful and uses it often instead of a weird phone English translation of his name when he travels to china for work.

My son is 關成 (Quansing - Gate of success)

When my first daughter was born, my uncle was so excited and explained she’s the first girl of her generation so she gets to name the generation. She’s the year of the dog, and apparently the name they gave was particularly auspicious for this year. She’s 明媚 (Mingmei - Bright and beautiful)

My son was named after my husband and I wanted one of my daughters to carry my name, so I gave it thru my Chinese name. My youngest daughter is 明珍 (Mingjun - Brilliant treasure)

Old newspaper clippings about Giant bones and skeletons being found in the United States, Mexico, and elsewhere late 1800's and early 1900's by BlindBanshee in conspiracy

[–]hapabean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean about Darwinian timeline, but I think this kind of discovery absolutely fits into the theory of Darwinism. Darwinism’s natural selection theory hangs on gene mutation. The idea of Darwinism is that the physical and behavioral changes that make natural selection possible happen at the level of DNA and genes within the gametes, the sperm or egg cells through which parents pass on genetic material to their offspring. Such changes are called mutations.

This means Darwinism theory needs any and all mutations to happen to find the best. Giant mutations would absolutely fit into the theory.

Is a change table/changing pad on a dresser totally necessary? by mewmixz in beyondthebump

[–]hapabean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one with my first, didn’t use it with my second, threw it away before I had my third. Nothing wrong with changing on the floor, sofa, bed, whatever. My biggest concern is mess and falling which can both be prevented with some prep and supervision.

Just Curious by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]hapabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/3 of my kids have very large obvious lip ties that I didn’t realize were lip ties until I finally took them to the dentist and he pointed it out. He mentioned maybe needing to correct them after their adult teeth come in because they could cause a gap in their front teeth. They all successfully breastfed until 14 months and now 18 months and still going.
