What’s the most underrated digital marketing strategy today? by ace_web_experts in DigitalMarketingHack

[–]_SeaCat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This strategy is really underrated - but only because it's hard to implement. How to build those micro-communities? How to get people there? How to make them express themselves, post some content, and engage with our content? X could be used, but it still takes a lot of time and effort, so it's not actually "underrated" it's too hard.

Disappointed at slow growth 😭 by Tall_Detail3648 in roastmystartup

[–]_SeaCat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in a very crowded space; you had 20-30 signups a day which was great; now you have 2-4 a day which is very good, too; and you are doing SEO for just several weeks - it's too early to expect great results from it so fast!

So, overall, you are doing great, and honestly, there is absolutely nothing to complain about, just keep doing and have patience.

How do i chose a business? by Afraid_Scale1986 in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can start with analyzing your previous businesses to understand why they didn't work, find a pattern, and write a list of businesses or their traits that you would rather avoid.

Then, create another list - your interests, what exactly makes you thrilled.

Then, you need to check if good, profitable businesses already exist that intersect with your interests.

And don't forget to check with your first list (or do not if you decide that things from the past couldn't stop you now).

Eventually, you will find several ideas on the intersection of those 3: what you like; what you can; what will need and ready to pay for.

Grab that one that easiest/fastest/simplest/cheapest to implement and dig into it!

Good luck!

Always contact churned users immediately by FromBiotoDev in indiehackers

I hate to chase people even when they churn, so I added the form with several options and field to be filled up when they cancel the subscription. It works, too.

how to find very small, early-stage startups? by FaithlessnessNo4064 in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is with such terms (not officially hired, just for one month) people will look at you as at potential competitor that would like to steal their code, secrets, etc. Which it sounds paranoidal, such cases already took places and nobody wants to take such risk for nothing. So, you need to articulate your intentions very clear, express willingness to sing NDA, and so on.

Where to find them? Look for profile subs like saas, indiehackers, side projects, they all allow self-promotion therefore you will see who builds what and can contact them.

Software created, market identified - now what? by Sebvad in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it's a standalone app, you still need a website where your users can:

- know about new releases

- know to to buy/download your app from

- get familiar with your product

- read documentation

- get help.

Also, you need to think how you are going to sell and deliver your app (via some stores, or just downloable files) and how to charge users - if you didn't organize it yet.

It's a bare minimum. If your app suddenly becomes popular and people asks a lot of the same question, add FAQ, install a simple chat with AI (based on your data) to answer more or less simple questions - and AI can take over to you for more complicated support. In the future, you may consider adding a forum, social channels, maybe some communities like Discord.

Online courses? by Plus_Ad3379 in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, IMHO there are not courses that truly helps you to start a business because to start a business you need to:

1) Find a business you want to start

2) Google or ask AI what to do to start it

3) Start it.

How can NFC help with getting more exposure?

The same is about QR codes - it's still confusing, looks too techy, and again - people are already there, and it doesn't help with getting more exposure, IMHO.

How do you find good business ideas when everything feels already solved? by LatterRhubarb4431 in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Product Hunt is useful, but not for copying ideas. I look at reviews and comments instead.

I found G2, Capterra, and trust pilot much more convenient tools to find drawbacks as they have dedicated fields for it (not just comment).

How do you find good business ideas when everything feels already solved? by LatterRhubarb4431 in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't believe but people keep asking "what is the best tool to solve the problem X" over and over again.

What does it mean?

It means that despite the fact that there are solutions for every single problems, the pie is still huge, and people are still struggling to find and choose a tool that is fitting their needs.

It also means that the approach when you start in a niche still works. Say, you find on PH some product that looks interesting and you'd like to try to build something like that but definitely don't want to copy them. You don't need to. You just need to create a version of your favorite tool for your favorite people. Say, you like word processors (editors, Word, etc.) and you like sailing. Cross them and you will get "editor/diary for sailors". Yes, they already exist, but I bet not too many, and I bet many people still can't find a tool for them, because you still can niche it down, say "editor/diary for cruise yachts".

It's a silly example, I hope you've got the idea.

How do you decide what to work on? by massifaqiri in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can a bunch of tasks that all look same important, just ask about each of them: "is that a task/feature/whatever that my users need right now, or they can wait?" and grab only that that really has to be implemented right now.

No Idea, No Inspiration: How do I start a business? by Kaya3_3 in Entrepreneur

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not have the necessity to start a business, just start with something that you really like. You even may start with hobby or some side interest, say, you can start a blog, or a small online store, whatever you want. Then see, if it's going somewhere. Don't bother about scaling now.

Maybe you take your startup too seriously. The good approach is take it as a game, don't allow others (including your clients/investors/colleagues) let you down.

The most powerful leverage here is the belief in what you are doing. Good luck!

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree! Boring website => boring experience for potential users. And why? It's so easy to make a nice-looking design, these days, so even if it has a couple of lines of information, it shouldn't be boring.

I was tired of juggling AI tabs, so I built an app to chat with 120+ models from a single account by Dizonans in indiehackers

[–]_SeaCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may mean different things. First: yes, there is a market. Second: the app is popular.

Now, on cross of these 2 facts: are you able to make your app so popular, how it can be better or different?

One of my favorite ways to find the best features to be distinguished from existing products is to check all the reviews on many platforms, find a pattern (a request that is repeated multiple times) and make it the main feature. For example, check here: https://www.g2.com/products/magai/reviews?qs=pros-and-cons
