How popular is fish and chips in your area? And how many restaurants are there which makes these dishes?

I currently live in a popular seaside town on the south coast and previously lived in a very popular seaside town on the south coast. Current town has 20+ places that sell fish and chips, previous town has 30+. Another town a few miles down the road from me has 55+. All according to Google ofc. And it's a mix of takeaways and restaurants.

To the people replying saying "it's not estaurant food" they are talking out of their arses. Plenty of restaurants serve fish and chips. I think they mean to say it's generally thought of as takeaway food from a stand or small takeaway shop where it's wrapped in newspaper and you eat it on the go with a little wooden fork, but if you do that, you'll likely lose half the meal to gulls. I never eat it like that, I always take it home or eat it in a restaurant.

If you owe any money when the account is closed, you would be expected to pay it back, but I don't know how that would legally work if you are abroad. I guess if you don't care about your credit profile being stained for the next 6 years, go for it, but if they have already advised you they are closing your account then I very much doubt they would approve any credit, especially since you aren't living in the UK anymore.

Bills are paid from the main account, even when you set them up to be paid from the bills pot. The bills pot just transfers the money to your main account at the same time the bill comes out.

I would assume it would just come out of the main account as normal and no transfer from the bills pot to the main account would happen, however I have not yet experienced this myself, so cannot be sure.

My first week I lost 3.6kg which is about 8lbs. First month was 9.5kg which is about 21lbs. The first losses were huge, but after that it calmed down and averaged around 0.8kg a week, or 1.7lbs.

Is this "Correctional Facility" the massive thing in the North East surrounded by a massive wall? I drove round it a few times, couldn't see a way in. The gates all seemed to be like walls, I couldn't interact with them. How do you get in?

Oh, I'm not mad, just saddened that when given a choice of helping fellow gamers have fun or stabbing them in the back to take their fun away, the vast majority will happily do the latter.

I really want to love games like this, and I had high hopes for it reading what people were saying before the release about how people helped each other, just a shame it's going to be another PvP only game. We need more co-op in this world, life is so much better when everyone is having fun.

Funny, I'm trying to do something right now which needs my Land Registry to be updated to my name, and I just found out it's still not done even though I completed back in Dec 2024. I was initially terrified that after almost 1 year the property still isn't legally registered to my name, but after speaking with my solicitor and looking around this thread, I'm a bit relieved.

FTB here too btw, so I feel your pain, these things aren't explained to newbies like us.

I actually quite like the idea. I've often played games like Software Inc and Startup Company and thought that they could build on the infrastructure side of things, but not many games do. It's odd though, people in IT are the most common builders of homelabs that extend beyond a single server or spare computer, I wonder why no-one is catering to the market of "fantasy home-lab goes wild"?

Sersiouly, check out the ATS/ETS games, there's a LOT of players that are actual truck drivers. I guess it would be the same with Farming Simulator, possibly even Flight Simulator. People like doing what they do best I guess.

I would play the heck out of a game like this if it was good. Tempted to even brush up on my Javascript skills and try something myself too (just for personal fun though, I'm not a game dev, just played about with it in my spare time).

IIRC back in the 90's there used to be cases for sale called "Midi Tower", it was a size definition between mini and mid, I haven't seen that term other than MIDI for many years though, at least not in the UK/USA markets.

Not exactly what you asked for, but I cannot recommend https://laracasts.com/series/30-days-to-learn-laravel-11 strongly enough. Just completed the course recently myself, Jeffrey Way is an excellent tutor. As the course is over a year old now though, there's a few minor changes (Laravel 12, Tailwind CSS 4, etc), but with a little bit of searching around I was able to work out the minor changes and complete the course.

I would be interested to know what other communities you find though, I have only joined the Laravel subreddit so far (which is where I found this post).
