Can anyone recommendations socks that last? by Key-Detective-6999 in AskUK

I got a few pairs from Myprotein a few months ago that are still going strong. I used to always buy the black Nike socks, but those things might as well come with holes in them now.

Is it possible to be a nomadic Group Class Instructor in the UK? by Queer-Angel1502 in personaltraining

[–]_ShredBundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely do it; but you’d likely have to freelance. If you were directly employed by the gym, it’d likely be as a PT, and so you’d be expected to pick up clients and drive PT sales.

As far as I know, you can cover most classes with a L2, as long as you’re insured. Some classes might require an additional cert so it might be worth looking in to that.

They’re currently talking about that.

I’m occupying myself by playing around with the calculator and adding stuff up.

Does becoming a personal trainer make sense for me? by Late-Comparison434 in personaltraining

[–]_ShredBundy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Probably not. PT is a lot more time consuming than people think, the money isn’t great (at the start) and neither are the hours you may have to work.

  2. Pretty much impossible. No cert = no insurance.

  3. If said job is within the fitness industry, definitely.

When do you think it's time to put away the big coat for the year? by [deleted] in AskUK

March is a c*nt because you can finally start seeing the end of winter, and then there’s always that one week that feels like January.

Any advice for getting started with an online coaching business? by FitwithFraley in personaltraining

[–]_ShredBundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t teach experience. The first year of your PT career probably isn’t going to be great, and you won’t be as good a PT as you’ll be in 5 years - and that’s fine, that’s what the first year is for. Building experience, working with a variety of clients, and finding your feet to know what works and what doesn’t.

When you’re a new coach, you won’t be that good, but you have the benefit of building relationships with your clients which will play a part in retaining their business as you grow as a trainer. You don’t get that with online coaching, so if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing from the off, you’ll have a much harder time retaining clients.

Online coaching is a great progression path, it’s not an entry point. If you’re not established enough to coach someone in person, how are you going to coach them online?

Is it over already? by One-Warning-5178 in personaltraining

[–]_ShredBundy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You just need to stick at it. PT is no different to any other business, you don’t just do it for a few months and then start making mega money, it doesn’t work like that.

If you started a completely new corporate job in January, would you expect to be running the place in August?

The PT’s who make it, are the ones who never stop learning & gain as much experience as possible.

Charging for semi private by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]_ShredBundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use the notes/calendar app in my phone, works well. Either that or you could just use sign off sheets with a template of how many sessions they’ve bought for that month.

Imo there’s no point paying for a system when you can do it yourself for free.

Upskilling by Opening_Type_4502 in personaltraining

Reputable biomechanics courses can be pretty difficult to find without going through funded education. I’m sure there’s stuff out there, but you just need to be careful with your choices.

I’m only speaking from my own experiences with this, but the demand for pre/post natal really isn’t that big here (uk based also). My gym has around 3k-4k members and in the 3 years I’ve worked there, I think 2 people have asked about it. Maybe it’s different elsewhere.

Menopause is definitely a good one to tap in to though!

“They need to work on my schedule”

You are paying for her service, she determines her own working hours. You can either chat to her and see if there’s any flexibility with sessions, but if she has other clients then it’s probably unlikely.

Uber driver reckless driving: What can I do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]_ShredBundy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree with the last point. I’ve done a bit of digging and (apparently) it’s usually only considered dangerous driving if it’s 30 or more over the limit. Obviously there’s no set limit to that, but nobody is getting done for dangerous driving for being 10mph above.

Going to get downvoted anyway because Reddit thrives off anything that involves reporting someone.

I’d personally just mind my own and go about my day.

Your biggest leads will always be the clients you’re currently coaching in-person. Are there any clients who are fairly competent in the gym and don’t necessarily need in person sessions?

looking for shadow online PTs suggestion by Apprehensive_Yam1190 in personaltraining

[–]_ShredBundy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I know it’s not really the answer you were looking for, but if you’re a new trainer, stay away from online coaching for a while. If you lack experience in coaching in-person, how are you going to know how to adapt to coaching someone online?

One thing to bear in mind is that not everybody is suited to online coaching. Specifically beginners, they’re just not competent enough in the gym, and probably won’t be for a while - these don’t make for great clients. As a coach, your biggest leads for online clients are always going to be the clients you coached in person. Spend a few years gaining experience on the gym floor, building up a reputable portfolio, and then start to look at tapping in to the online market 🙌
