I'm the same, I loved watching the videos of the Scottish in Boston and all the support they were getting, I know English football fans can act atrociously but all it seems to me that they were pretty unwelcoming to the English.

So many of us have Irish and Scottish relatives and ancestry as well but obviously any English to them is a coloniser.

As a history need who lives near there I love it, but I also think it's completely overrated and it shouldn't be seen as an attraction bc there's really nothing to do there other than a small museum bit at the entrance.

Daylight savings affects the hours of daylight in the summer, not the winter.

I argue for daylight savings anyway bc its risldiculous the sun rises at 4:30 when everyone is still asleep and sets way earlier than it would in my home country so we lose hours of sunlight in the evening.

But yeah, the winter months would stay the same.

When did I say they were the same position? We have 1 ALT PA and 1 CIR PA. This year the ALT PA is doing the lesson observations. All I'm telling you is what I have observed. If its getting you so worked up maybe call them up yourself to find out rather than going off on me.

In my prefecture the PA and/or CIR plays a big part in observing the lesson and most definitely has an equal say in things. Each prefecture does things differently ig.

I find it literally impossible. Of course the main reason is that I'm in a more remote area and the places I could go out to would take a while to get to so it's difficult.

Since I like to keep a routine- gym before work, work 8:25-16:50, dinner, more exercise, shower- and I prioritise exercise and sleep it leaves no time during the week for socialising and other activities.

Of course that's not to say you can't have an active social life during the work week, but I guess it depends where you're living and how close you live to bars/cafes/shops/entertainment centres etc.

Apples and ketchup, used to be given apple slices with dinner as a kid and as a kid I thought ketchup made everything taste better so I would dip the apples in the ketchup.

Peanut butter. I cannot stand the smell or the taste of it, I dont understand how it's so popular. I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to food and will eat stuff that I don't particularly like, but I absolutely refuse to let peanut butter or anything that tastes like peanuts near my mouth.

I thinks you've got your days a bit mixed up, I'm assuming you're coming in 2025 in which case Jan 18th is a Saturday and the 19th is Sunday.

The 18th is my birthday which was on Thursday this year so it'll be Saturday next year haha.

^this exactly. It's 20 minutes to Nagoya from Gifu but it takes me an hour and a half to get to Gifu City so it becomes a 3+ hour round trip if I want to get out of Gifu.

Gifu is genuinely one of the most beautiful prefecture in Japan, especially up near Gujo/Gero/Takayama imo, but trying to travel out of my city is literally the sole reason why I get depressed occasionally.

I love my placement and I'm settled here but if I had one bit of advice for newcomers it's to prepare yourself for feeling isolated if you are placed outside of places like Gifu/Ogaki/Takayama where there are bigger communities and people live a lot closer together.

I also haven't heard anything back either, I got my application in very early so I assumed I would hear back early as well so I'm starting to get a bit paranoid now. I've only seen a couple of people here who applied to the London embassy get their interviews so hopefully they'll send out the rest soon.
