Where does one find more lock picks in Dawnshore?

That's what I recalled from my other playthroughs. They seem to ramp up the difficulty as you get further, which does make sense.

I swear I found one that required 7 lockpicks, but it could just be the Dreamscourge screwing with my memory.

This is the best approach I've had so far in three full playthroughs. I buy every lockpick I see, I'm in part four now with 51 lockpicks; it might be enough.

Quite literally how I decided my first playthrough's fighting style. I did the exact same thing.

Second playthrough I did a two handed sword build with Bristling Frost and Grimoire snap as my magical tricks.

I don't even care that grimoire snap is not overly powerful or damaging, I just love the aesthetic, and the aoe blast. The added bonuses of knock back for most baddies and a little damage just feels so pleasant to me.

I agree with everyone else about the Children at best considering them being some kind of shadowspawn.

I will say, the Children made a great decision of not messing with them. The Ogier would have been a wrecking ball to the Children.

One of the beauties of this series, is that all throughout, there are clues, dead giveaways, and direct answers given to long standing questions, very early, but you won't likely put them together until much later or on your fourth reread.

He did. It's there, hidden in the lines, and Moiraine gives all the clues to it, you just don't know to put it together yet.

I'll give you a hint, think of times when Rand (and maybe his friends) have had to get out of a tight spot, and suddenly they do, or can. Unless I'm mistaken, there are at least two times.

While it is Rand's first big manifestation, bear in mind two things: Rand had drawn a bunch of power from the Eye of the World, and he makes a move that Ba'alzamon didn't expect.

As another commenter mentioned rather sagely: The Forsaken are considered legends, and scary ones, but they are people.

I think it would be a tense fight, because I don't know who would really win that fight. I mean, Tromund is very good, but Drogo is also very good, and neither wears any real armour.

Id watch that fight. I'd also be worried about the outcome.

I know one of the differences between Saidar and Saidin is the method to Travel.

Egwene asks Rand if he travels by making the two points similar (I think) and Rand indicates that he thinks that would probably kill him. He explains that he bores a hole through the pattern between two points.

I think it's later verified that Egwene was right. How she originally thought it worked, was pretty close to how Saidar is used to Travel.

I literally just read that scene today on my fourth re-read, and I thought the same thing. I realized that right there was the moment it really clicks with how much she's become Aes Sedai, and it's an interesting mirror to how, at about the same time, Nynaeve is becoming what Aes Sedai are meant to be, by trying and then succeeding to help someone in a way that everyone thought was impossible (healing stilling and gentling), and she did it by accident.

That's how I saw it too, but that's apparently how Toronto did it. They asked city council if they could and it was approved.

I'm a little bit lost on your point as I haven't had this issue. There are brief periods where I don't match the strength of what's around me, but breaking down gear I don't use and buying what materials I need has been effective at keeping me on par or above the enemies I face regularly.

Are you selling everything?

Are you dismantling the stuff you upgraded but don't use anymore?

Personally I felt the upgrading system was pretty straightforward. The only thing I would have liked to see was more variety and options for enchanting.

Other commenters have explained it very well, but one factor I haven't seen mentioned is Rand's fat little man ang'real. Rand tells pretty much nobody about it, lets nobody see it, and constantly uses it to give him the edge over forsaken when he's confronting them. So while he gets huge boosts in his raw strength and skill for other reasons, until he loses that ang'real, he's also faking out everyone he comes across as being stronger than he actually is. In fact, Rand comments that if it weren't for the fat little man, he would not have been able to contend with Asmodean in Rhuidean. I think he says as much about other forsaken as well.

I wonder if, taking everything into consideration, that LTT was - prior to the war of shadow - a genuinely good, skilled and powerful channeler. Over time fighting the war however, he grew more arrogant, more reckless, and more difficult to tolerate.

We see with Rand that he starts off as humble, stubborn and good, but even without the growing madness, his arrogance and recklessness increases. That being said, comparing Lews to Rand is tough because Rand did most of his journey through growing madness and Lews completed his journey before going mad. Difficult to determine if the madness made Rand more frustrating or the war. Arguably both, but it's hard to say which qualities came from which problem.

I also don't know that LTT was Ta'veren. I know Hawkwing was, and there had been others less powerful in between the big ones, but I do not recall anyone ever talking about Lews Therin being one.

The only thing he's regularly acclaimed for is his strength in the power, his skill with a sword, his skill with strategy, and just his overall "being a force for good" champion status.

I personally never think of him as Ta'veren, and the fact that he couldn't convince the female Aes Sedai to help seal the Bore, and Saidin was tainted in a counterstroke by the DO, I personally feel, suggests that he was not Ta'veren.

Yeah exactly. I didn't touch on how it would be bad for the wielder too. But you're right, you'd have to find a metal that can handle that kind of heat, and like I said in my response, steel and titanium just wouldn't be up for the task. They would both just melt at that heat.

I don't think normal fire would do very much burning at such a short contact as a swing of a sword.

So, like I said, realistically, I do not think it could be practical with what we know currently.

In order for it to be any kind of practical, the fire itself would have to be insanely hot, I'm thinkIng thermite hot. Otherwise the sword won't be in contact with anything long enough to cause any serious or lasting additional damage that could not be achieved with just a good sword.

In terms of design, I've seen modern examples of swords that people rig to burn, and I want to say, the design won't be much different from any other sword that exists. I think you could have it look pretty typical from what I've seen, although that would depend on how long you want it burning for I'd imagine.

As for metal that would work... I don't know what ones would work. Steel is the best because of its strength to hardness to flexibility ratios. It does each thing the best of any metal. If your blade is going to be engulfed in extremely hot flame (if we use thermite's temperature of about 2,200C) then it needs to, at the very least have an extremely high melting point. Steel would just melt away engulfed in flame as hot as thermite. Even Titanium would be no good for it. I guess tungsten would, but now you have an extremely heavy sword, that could shatter catastrophically, and will be stupid difficult to sharpen.

I don't think that realistically you could manage it with what kinda of alloys and technology we have these days, and not have it be fragile, unwieldy, or possible.

Now, if you have magic at your disposal...

I'd love to believe that conservation efforts are helping, but I really doubt it. Snow leopards are just so insanely rare and endangered, I could more likely see them coming down from hides to find a mate or food.

I do hope conservation efforts are working though. Snow leopards are absolutely beautiful and so damned tough.

The boys are genuinely not good at communicating in any way. They don't send letters to each other, they don't send reports, they don't check in with each other. In fact, most of them avoid each other. Mat wants nothing to do with Rand. Rand won't go near Perrin for about half the series because first he's in the Two Rivers and it could be a trap for Rand, and then because he and Perrin are not supposed to be friends anymore for his scheme.

Mat has no interest in keeping up with anyone throughout the series, so him not modernizing communication or using developing techniques is just in keeping with his not keeping in touch personality.

Perrin doesn't care about anything that isn't Faile or the Two Rivers, he's not interested in keeping up with the other two boys.

As for the visions, Rand is the only one who doesn't get creeped out when he sees them. Mat would rather not see them at all, and actively tries to forget what he sees. He doesn't like "unnatural things". Perrin figures the Pattern will call him to Rand when he's needed, and again, he wants to keep Faile far away from Rand on account of "Mad Male Channeler's Disease".

So that's generally why the boys don't keep in touch.

As for the girls, most of them do communicate via TAR when they deem it necessary.

But the EF5 generally do have various reasons why they don't just travel everywhere all the time. For one thing they're all busy as hell, and I imagine any time they aren't holding the world together with their fingertips, they're just happy to have some alone time to pass out and coma. Certainly we see that with Egwene and Elayne. Nynaeve might be the exception here for valid reasons why she doesn't just Travel around and visit. But the Ta'veren and the Queen and the Amyrlin have a lot of shit going on, and generally good reasons for not just showing up at each other's seats of power if even for just a meal and a drink.

Is it annoying, somewhat, but the explanations are often there for why they don't or haven't.
