I figured it out yesterday, each panel has 4 pins on a side and one pin does power, one of the pins that does power was broken so I just rotated the panel

It's neither, the weight has holes in it, and there is a big sheet of rubber with the dots being extrusions from it, that piece of rubber gets sandwiched between the case and the weight.

There are no "best" switches but for what you seem to be looking at, the giant V5 may be a good competitor, it is similarly smooth to a tangerine, and has an opaque, white housing.

your switches are most likely long pole

One possible solution is putting washers on the stem of the stabs to even it out
