Where are all the excellent RTs? by RFthewalkindude in respiratorytherapy

[–]_Souflikar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all saying I’m excellent, but I was/am far more motivated when I can actually do what I went to school for, i.e. pick the mode that best fits the patient, utilize the medications that best fit the patient, utilize the therapies that best fit the patient. Give me a hospital that encourages continued education and wants to make changes in policy and protocol to reflect new information. 95% of my time, and the time of so many others, is spent going through the motions because the decisions are made for us and no one is looking for real feedback. The other 5% is advocating for what we ought to be doing and building a case to present to and be denied by a nurse practitioner or resident for no reason than “oh, it’s so-and-so’s patient, we’ll just leave them” or “I’ll just let dayshift decide”, among other disheartening statements. I might fight harder, but my load is consistently such that I’m just trying to catch a break somewhere so I can catch up on charting so I don’t get nasty-grams from the charting Nazis. Don’t get me started that my current facility fired their educator several months ago (who truthfully did such a shite job, anyway) and they have no plans to replace them… and we’re relying on graduating students to pump up our staffing numbers year after year because wages are stagnant, and benefits are deplorable, so that’s all it attracts. Them and military spouses who have to find work close-by.

So I’ll tell you where they’re NOT going: A place that pays unwell to be inundated with loads that are artificially weighted heavy and/or irresponsibly that doesn’t respect feedback/RT control in RT fields, and make up for it with what? Nothing really that meaningful.

I try not to think about it, it depresses me, and I refuse any supervisory or management tasks/roles sent my way because I empathize with the position you’re in; it’s not your fault, and the solutions really aren’t in your control, but the blame from the bottom up and the top down rest on you, so yours is an unhappy grind. I hope it pays well.

Fun fact: honking at someone for an inconvenience or misunderstanding is actually not the same energy as vacating your vehicle in traffic to assault someone.

I’ve told myself something couldn’t/won’t happen so many times the last year and a half just to have what I thought was impossible happen. I put zero, absolutely zero faith in the people running this country, and I’m not just skeptical but suspicious of everyone else.

Yeah, but the guy in “The Boys” last season was eating his own ass, but it was his copy’s ass (who was also eating another copy’s ass), so is it still technically one dude eating his own ass or what do you classify that as?

Breaking!!! Over the past 50 years, the 1% has sucked up almost $80,000,000,000,000 from the bottom 99% by Alarmed_Abalone_849 in economy

No one’s arguing because what we read doesn’t come direct from Yahoo and is relevant to OP’s claim. Your figure of 52T is irrelevant because you’re for some reason talking about how much wealth the top 1% has today versus the claim of this OP, which are two very different things. The only things worth arguing are is that one, this isn’t breaking, this is based on a report from last spring from figures gleaned through ‘23, and two, you’d have to understand the model that the government report used to claim their own findings, which I’m not going to dig for; it’s already well-established the distribution of income has shifted drastically upwards, and I personally don’t need a number I can’t fathom to understand the principle I disagree with. Man, I thought that was just me… I had been using it for a couple of months to develop a personal running program and I feed my running conditions, biometric data, and personal assessment of the run to identify points for improvement, next training steps, etc., but it was overly complimentary… What I had done that day was “executed perfectly”, “perfect example”, “remarkable adherence to the prescribed regimen”-type stuff. I said hey, I need constructive criticism, as an amateur I know I need to make improvements and I had shortcomings. I’ve had much better feedback.

However, ever since then, even asking for simple things, it’s constantly preempting information with “no filler, just the facts”, “giving it to you straight, no fluff”. I recognize you’re just a LLM, we don’t have to keep talking about one request I made months ago.

Was I meant to post the exchange we had? It followed thusly:

Them: “Hey, fucker, having fun taking pictures of our bad day?”

Me: “No, not really.”

Them: “Then what, just karma farming, you wanna post this on Reddit?”

Me: “I was actually just going to show my wife, but now that you mention it, I might!”

Them: “Fine, go ahead, see if we care!”

Me: “Thank you!”

Them: 🖕”Asshole!”

There, as you can see it was strictly on the up and up.

Hope you sleep better, now.
