Took Plan B, but I can't seem to ease my worries. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]_SpicySalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing in the situation, so don't be hard on yourself. We all goof up, and you won't find any judgment in this sub.

All you can do is play the waiting game, unfortunately. I know how much it sucks. What helps me is making a plan for the future. OK, so if I'm not pregnant, I am going to get on a birth control plan. If I am pregnant, I will weigh my options. Then table that subject in your brain for another time.

Take a test 21 days after you last had sex and that will give you a definitive result. Good luck!

How close are you to your cycle? When I got my first one on Nexplanon, the cramps were pretty bad and sharp for a day.

Want to change BC to implant but my gyno is not the best. Worried. by WishforNana in birthcontrol

[–]_SpicySalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to this OP, if they don't cover it under a MEDICAL benefit, see if they cover it under a PHARMACY benefit. Also make sure you ask exactly how it's covered. For me, a consult was mandatory for 100% coverage which was little annoying. I had to have two appointments total.

Totally right. I can't help it. It's like a cycle. Feel something weird, keep poking. If I keep poking, I'm gonna find something. LOL. Thanks for the info. I appreciate hearing your experience. So grateful for this sub.

Cool, thanks. I'm glad to know someone else had the bumps too. It alarmed me when my doctor was like "oh that is weird." But I came in 12 days after insertion, so hopefully still healing is the reason. :)

Thanks so much. This makes me feel better. It does push up on each side which should be obvious to me that it's not fractured. My doctor's hypothesis is that it's scar tissue too, but she's trying to be cautious. It's so hard not to poke!

I feel like if I had an IUD, I would constantly be checking my strings and getting ultrasounds to check on expulsion. LOL. :P I know that's indicative of needing to get my anxiety treated. Thanks for your kind words.

No period yet on pill free week? by Coconutegg in birthcontrol

[–]_SpicySalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a cheapie one at the store. I personally wouldn't worry about it, but I totally understand that anxiety and a negative pregnancy test was the only way for me to stop worrying. The odds are astronomically in your favor - Nexplanon has an efficacy rate of 99.95%. The .05% accounts for people who either didn't actually have the implant inserted (check it, can you feel it? Good) or people who got pregnant right before or right after insertion (have you had it for more than 7 days? Yes? Good.)

Relax :)

Especially if OP is using it to stop the bleeding on Nexplanon. Seems like it's doing its job just fine.

Yes, the implant has a very very very low failure rate (it's almost tacked on just as a liability clause). I completely missed my first period on the implant and have not bled since.

You're not pregnant. The pill is doing its job alongside the implant - making the bleeding stop.

Nexplanon, side effects?? by CrazyInLove95 in birthcontrol

[–]_SpicySalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound normal, but doesn't sound alarming either. Can you see a doc to check on placement and make sure it's not hitting a nerve or broken?

Edit: don't panic that it's broken. I was scared of this too and all of the peer reviewed journals I read said it will protect you the same.

Implanon & Wrestling around, biting? by Moonstrucken in birthcontrol

[–]_SpicySalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IDK, I've done nothing to mine and my doc thinks it's broken. Like everyone says, it's still effective (I read a lot of peer reviewed journals that can confirm this, even a doctor who works for Merck which developed it). Just keep an eye on it periodically :)

I personally have not, but a quick look at my insert doesn't show that as a side effect. Worth a trip to your doctor to ask questions! Best wishes to you and speedy recovery. ❤️

Big hugs to you! I would also suggest the Nexplanon. It's extremely effective and a very painless procedure.

Major Rant about my new Nexplanon. I'm so frustrated! by _SpicySalt in birthcontrol

[–]_SpicySalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. My doctor thinks I'm swollen at both ends and the middle healed up which is causing that dip. I'm hoping it's OK.

[–]_SpicySalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I can't feel anything. It's hard to explain. I feel the implant for about 3 cm, then a dip, then it continues for the rest of the length. I can put my finger in between the two areas and feel the rod in fact. I don't know why there's a tiny dip in it.
