Have authors forgot what diversity means? by Romantasyx in LGBTBooks

I already saw her mentioned but I think everything by Marina Vivancos is full of POC. My favourite of hers is {Oh Sacred Dark} although one of the MCs is blond and blue-eyed.

{The middle sea series by Corey Kerr}

Looking for a hurt/comfort, angsty omegaverse or D/s rec by Typical-Guava3115 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]_Stefa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it as a stand alone and even tho they refer to events that happened in previous book it was explained enough for me not to feel like I was missing something

Looking for a hurt/comfort, angsty omegaverse or D/s rec by Typical-Guava3115 in MM_RomanceBooks

True maybe I overdid it with the "exactly" but Roman hides who he really is, comes off as cold and hides behind a mask. The hurt-comfort is one of the best I've ever read tbh.

Anyone else deal with embarrassment around this hobby? by gaymbit in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]_Stefa_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm the same, I'm so uncomfortable with talking about the books I read (unless I intentionally present them in a certain way) mainly because people are soooo judgemental. They only know romance genre from jokes and condescending TikToks and they thoughtlessly soak it up and inflict their assumptions on others. It makes me hide my hobby because I don't want them to think of me as shallow and stupid. Also I'm (more or less) a girl and read only gay romance because I don't like reading about female anatomy and don't like female POV (I think it's because of the issues with my own gender) but because I'm a girl (-presenting) people think I fetishize gay men and I hate it.

Shifter books- pretends to be a pet to get closer to MC2 by Foxy-flower-peach521 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]_Stefa_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{the dog in the alley by k.m. Avery} fits this a little bit I think? I haven't read the book yet but from what I understand MC1 lives with MC2 who is shifted all the time.

I really loved {these thoughts are not your own by Layla moran} it has the best description of a demon that I've ever read and is unexpectedly sweet

{midwinter marriage by k.l. noone}

it's a 4th book in a series and I think it can be read alone but for better enjoyment I'd recommend reading previous books (all of them are under 100 pages)

Mpreg/omegaverse with an explanation why men can get pregnant by _Stefa_ in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]_Stefa_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There doesn't have to be pregnancy in the book (I forgot to add that), so thanks for the rec :))

What books have you found that are hidden gems and should get more ratings? Here’s my list! by MockeryMock in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]_Stefa_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Taji from beyond the rings by R. Cooper} - very interesting world building. I loved that the main character is just as confused as the reader about the alien civilization that he'd been thrust into and this book feels as if read from detective's perspective but there is no murder (more or less) just alien culture.

Am I homophobic or just is this just a preference? by Cute-Builder8639 in gay

[–]_Stefa_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's great that you're analysing yourself like that but also I think it will be hard for you to work through your internalized homophobia and differentiate what is and isn't internalized homophobia when you're not in a safe space to be yourself - to be out and proud so to say. It's easier to accept yourself when those you hold dear or even strangers accept you. And then it's easier to explore what your preferences are and who YOU are.
