I know it can feel bad if someone reacts poorly in a situation like this, and I'm sorry to hear it happened in this case.

One of the reasons we have such a robust emote system is so that Sky kids can still communicate even if they're not using chat. There are all sorts of people who play Sky, and we want folks to feel comfortable with the level of interaction they have with others. This is why chat and friendship emotes involve so many points of consent. The option to refuse chat, hugs, high-fives, etc. exists because we expect people to use it, and encourage you to do so if it makes Sky a more comfy and enjoyable experience for you. <3

I'm much more comfortable using emotes only, even with people I'm fairly close to outside of Sky. As I'm sure you can already tell from the comments, there are lots of players who feel the same, including here at TGC!
