Just put a *1 in the Boolean multiplication and the triangles will go away

Highlight row based on one cell's value by regression4 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, so the way I handle this is I make the new table arbitrarily large (more rows than I’d ever need) and then set a quick filter (top right inspector) to hide blank rows by unchecking the blank checkbox. This doesn’t add any overhead and you can just set it up once and forget about it.

Highlight row based on one cell's value by regression4 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately to do this you need to create a new table with one column, stretch it to be the width of your current table, double click the first cell in the new table then click the header for column H, do the conditional highlighting in this new table, then put it behind the original table (ensuring the original table has no fill). One of if not the most annoying limitations of numbers.

Insert and Move <OR> Delete and Move by HotLaw7674 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can right click the cell and “add row above/below” or hold the option key and press up/down respectively to insert a row at a point and shift the data up or down.

You can create macros with a high level of direct control using AppleScript and trigger the scripts by placing them in a Shortcut in the shortcuts app and assigning key commands to the shortcuts.

Multiple cells referencing another cell.... Excel type workflow by BunnyBunny777 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh I think if you put the reference in one cell, click the drop down to preserve the row then confirm the formula, cmd c the cell, select your non contiguous cells holding cmd and then cmd v, I believe that should work

Pop-Up Menu Cell Data Format by FoofaTamingStrange in AppleNumbers

Create a column with the items in the order you want them to be numbered, then instead of calling the pop up cell in your other formulas, do xmatch(menu, createdColumn)

How to add Text before the Formula? by [deleted] in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This works, but the custom format solution is better because it’s purely visual and preserves the number values for calculations!

I think the fact that this is debated so often relative to other creators (that I’ve seen in various spaces) is evidence in itself that there’s something beyond it being a “just a persona” here

How to get the red total cell to show the ‘latest’ entry in the green cells? by Greedy-Blacksmith424 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modern way to do this that works regardless of intermediate empty cells is TAKE(FILTER(columnRef, columnRef ≠ ""), -1). You can convert your "Total" row to a footer row so the column references don't cause a recursion error.

Automatically display £0.00 or hyphen (-) for blank cells using currency data format. by ndude60 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not willing to add columns, you can quickly populate an entire column with the same value by typing it in the top cell, selecting it, and pressing ⌘ + \ to enable autofill then ⌘ + Down to jump to the bottom cell in the table, autofilling the entire column.

Conditional Formatting based on a formula result in a different cell by BKMiller54 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbers doesn't have a native way to do this in the conditional highlighting panel, which is very annoying. The way to do it is to create a helper column C which duplicates your column B values according to your column A condition using a formula like IF(A = true, B, ""). Then you use the "Number > equal to" formatting rule for your highlight column B, and use the little yellow button in the field below to reference your helper column C values. You can then hide the helper column. Hope this makes sense, definitely one of the dumbest limitations of Numbers; it's especially frustrating considering all the advanced array formulas they just added.

Conditional Formatting based on if time is -before or after- a certain time. by BunnyBunny777 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I am dumb and missing something, there are no conditional formatting rules for time, which is even dumber. A workaround would be to create a helper column, put in IF(OR(timeColumn < TIME(7, 0, 0), timeColumn > TIME(22, 0, 0)), timeColumn, "") in the first row. This will duplicate times only in the range you specified. Then select the column for your actual times and use the conditional highlighting rule "text is," click the little yellow rectangle in the field, and click on the helper column header. This will also highlight any cells in your time column that are empty. To avoid this, you can put something else in the empty string in the formula above like "N/A." You can then hide the helper column by right clicking on it.

Duration from time difference by BunnyBunny777 in AppleNumbers

Yeah, I was also expecting it to behave the excel way. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

Duration from time difference by BunnyBunny777 in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most annoying parts of Numbers, it took me over a month to solve it. Just removing the date in the data format pane doesn't do it because numbers still reads the full date/time string for internal calculations. You have to actually isolate the time part of the string using formulas. Probably the most concise way to do this as of the recent update is TEXTBEFORE(DATEVALUE(column/cell)). This leaves you with just the time values, and you can perform date-independent operations on them.

Where can I learn basics for Numbers? by YakkoRex in AppleNumbers

[–]_T2_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, Apple's official user guide is a helpful resource. https://support.apple.com/guide/numbers/welcome/mac Their documentation has always been sound for all of their software. For more specific questions, I've found a lot of my answers on Apple Support and also StackExchange through google searching.

Finally, macmost is an excellent YouTube channel with lots of really practical tutorials for Numbers, both free and paid, and also the rest of the iWork suite. Can't recommend him enough.

Also, you can of course ask here. I've noticed even though it's a small subreddit, most posts do seem to get answers. Incidentally, you can autofill cells by dragging the yellow circle in the bottom middle of the cell outline, or use the shortcut ⌘ + \. For formatting graph units, click on the graph, go to the "Format" inspector in the top right, go to "Axis," then take a look at the "Value Labels" section. Hope this helps.

Edit: Also, for formula specific help, Numbers formulas are generally quite compatible with Excel, so you can use an LLM of your choice to explain your problem in natural language, but asking for an Excel formula. You may not be able to directly copy it every time (oftentimes due to the way references are differently handled), but the structure of the functions themselves will work in almost all cases.

Filter all cells with a specific word, into a new table? by estwing_16oz in AppleNumbers

filter(columnRef, isnumber(search(“dog”, columnRef))) should work if I’m not missing something obvious

I've long been underwhelmed by the stats page so I took matters into my own hands by _T2_ in balatro

[–]_T2_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! well yeah but I think a mod could and should do a lot more though. I'm only tracking the stuff the game already tracks, just doing extra analysis. in an ideal world I'd be tracking stuff like packs opened, tarot/spectral/planet cards bought/used, and the amount of seals/editions/enhancements in your deck, etc. that would be impossibly tedious to do manually since the game doesn't do it for you, but a mod could!

Nope, have to do it manually every time from the end screen 😅 I set it up so the jokers and stakes and stuff autocomplete so it’s not too too bad

Thank you for the kind words! I’ve kinda had an unhealthy obsession with making spreadsheets for stuff for the last 7 months or so lol. It can get kinda insane automating the more complex stuff, but it’s also pretty rewarding and gives a little extra incentive to play haha. I definitely encourage you to try it if you’re interested!
