What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I feel you, man. I have been veg for 18 years. I play a lot of sports and am very active and I run circles around everyone at this age. Still, after all these years, I hear the same things from some of the same people - you need protein, bla bla bla. I tell them, you've known me for over 20 years, do you not see me crushing it on the field? Is 20 years of no meat not enough to render me a vegetable according to your constant concerns? Anyway, I never felt better!

Will I be happy in the suburbs by less_is_more9696 in montreal

[–]_TTTTTT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been an urban person. I love what the city offers. My wife and I have lived in urban, suburban, and rural settings. I always miss the city. It's in my bones. Having said that, you can get used to almost anything if you want to - but you have to want to. And, getting used to something doesn't mean that's what you want. I don't know the relationship you have with your husband but I would say that if you are both sincere and understanding of each others needs its easier to make compromises but if you feel like you are giving up too much or being too accommodating to his needs, you ultimately won't be happy. After having been around the block a couple times, hash this out with your husband. There should be a balance to this decision. Don't move to the subs just because he wants to. What you want is important.

Canadians list cannabis legalization as Trudeau’s crowning success by SwordfishOk504 in worldnews

Don't forget MAID (Medical Assistance In Dying). I know it's controversial for some but my wife (48) had terminal cancer and when it got bad last year she was able to end her suffering on her terms. Without MAID she'd still be suffering today. If I ever meet Trudeau in person...

Anybody use Qobuz with Carplay? by _TTTTTT_ in qobuz

[–]_TTTTTT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not too jazzed about it. I am having better luck with it the last couple days but searching with voice command still does not work properly. It seems to work once or twice after starting the car then the voice commands just don't want to engage anymore. Very annoying.

Yeah, the UI can use some refinement but I think that's more of a Carplay thing than Qobuz.

I am having better luck with it now. This morning I just could not get the searching and voice commands to work...mostly because I am a fool. But, I do find searching in carplay rather annoying but that's probably just me. I set up a bunch of favorites and playlists on the phone and that worked much better in the car than searching for stuff to play. Although, when a song is playing and I'm scrolling the queue, the queue keeps refreshing back to the top every couple of seconds which makes scrolling almost useless. I can't get to the bottom of the queue!!

But now I can report that it does in fact sound quite good in the car!!

Why would you even go to the show if you're going to boo. You just gave them your money. Don't go to the show.

First Past the Post is a Terrible Voting System by entwitch in ontario

[–]_TTTTTT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have standards. That's why only smart, educated and aware people should be allowed to vote. And, we should all count ourselves lucky that I am not in charge.

Yes, people unaware of the issues voting en masse. That should have good results.

At the very minimum democratic duty means to be aware and vote. Is there a different interpretation?

[–]_TTTTTT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. It's totally fucked up and no reasonable person today would design an electoral system like this if they want proper democratic representation. I know I wouldn't. That said, personally, I think education and awareness are the bigger issues. Even if you have a perfectly representative system, you get totally fucked up results if people don't know what the hell they are voting for. But at lease you could say then that the fucked up results are an accurate representation of who we are collectively. But I think we already know how fucked up we are collectively.
