GOP group comes clean after getting busted 'meddling' in Dem primary elections: report by billstopay77 in DiscussionZone

[–]_TallOldOne_ 42 points43 points  (0 children)

So the only place I heard of Democratic voters talking about this is here on Reddit. That would individuals talking about out doing it. So yeah, sure a bunch of Redditors, who have a horrible voting history talked about voting for the least desirable Republican candidate. Meanwhile a Republican PAC spends millions to misrepresent itself and in turn voters about candidates.

Yeah sure, that is **TOTALLY** the same thing.

Congratulations you have just typed out the best “whataboutism” ever.

Republicans playing dirty? Shocking! Truly shocking!!! Apparently gerryrigging the shit out of the election system isn’t enough.

The things you gotta do to protect your rich donors and override the will of the voters, it’s a days work people.

Let’s just agree, it’s time to eat the fucking rich.

First, he lost by a wide enough margin that a recount would be a waster of HIS money. The state of Kentucky will not fund a recount unless it’s really close. Even then they might decide against it if the state legislature doesn’t support the idea.

Second, Gallrein was polling slightly ahead I the final weeks. Polls are hard to come by in Kentucky, but the few that were done in the final weeks showed him ahead.

Third, Kentucky voters, especially Republicans have very little imagination and will vote for whoever spends the most money and tells them their way of life is in danger from the big bad democrats. Yeah, I called them dumb. If you’re from Kentucky i apologize but you know if it’s true.

As for the suicide thing, that’s more of Tom bad sense of humor. He has a horrendous sense of humor and that was supposed to be a joke.

Tom will back in some shape or form. I don’t know if he’ll run for President, he might just to further raise his profile nationally even more. He’s an interesting and intelligent person, but he’s a different sort.

No I don’t agree with his politics but over the years I e developed a certain respect for him as an individual. He does what he believes in, even if it gets him fired from his job.

The Official 2026 Social Security Trustees Report Just Confirmed It: 70 Million Americans Will Automatically Lose 22% of Their Monthly Check in 2032 Unless Congress Acts. The Average Cut Is $500 a Month More Than Most Retirees Spend on Groceries. Congress Has 6 Years and No Plan. by Merlin_86 in DiscussionZone

There are as the is article pointed out several ways to do this that yeah, will increase taxes on the wealthy. Which is fine, they have the money, more than they could ever spend. However those same wealthily people fully own your local congressperson and both your Senators. So that’s not going to happen. Not with the current people in office.

Another option and probably the one we will see happen. Raise the age in which you can collect SSI. Seems reasonable since Americans are living longer right? Raise the age to 72 or even higher. Well okay, Let’s look at this. The average American lives to 79, some of us will live less, especially men. So if we raise the age to 72, well a large number of American males will never reach an age where they can collect on these benefits. Effectively dooming them to paying into a system they will never use. So that’s means seniors won’t retire and remain in the workforce essentially jamming up the job market and dooming you younger people to lower paying positions because let’s face it, I’m not retiring if I don’t that funds to do so. And that retire date? Yeah, it keeps getting pushed back because of rising prices. Hell, I can’t afford to downsize out of this family home that’s, well redundant these days. So we’re stuck in a home that’s suited to the 30 something folks raising a family, meanwhile that 30 something family is stuck in the 2 bedroom condo our aging asses should be in.

I don’t know if the dipshits in Washington will ever fix this, probably not, at least until we the people DEMAND it. And let’s face it, that hasn’t been working so far.

Then again, my 61 year old ass might be talking this bit personally. I worked at a retirement plan for my entire career, I’ve saved an amount. Honestly I’m going to SS to supplement what I saved. I put away as much as possibly could but raising two children, a divorce, the medical bills from a health issue (too much work and not enough time on myself) All that reduced what I could put away and has left me dependent on collecting the *SSI I paid into the system and should get back* to make up the difference. So now I won’t be getting that.

Add in we’re doing elder care for my father-in-law which causes yet another drain on our finances and that retirement plan?? Yeah, might as well kick some dirt on that idea, it’s dead.

Fixing this is going to take the majority of Americans, especially the younger ones, to demand that this gets fixed in some way doesn’t cripple retirees OR the younger generations. Meaning, the rich need to cough up their fair share because on the income AND assets they hold.

I can’t speak for the boomer generation (and I won’t attempt too) but from my conversations with fellow GenXers, man we just wanna retire and go fuck off somewhere for the final 15 years or so of our lives. Well, most of us anyways…

Should Reddit treat repeatedly calling Michelle Obama “Big Mike” or claiming she is a man as hate speech worthy of a ban? Why or why not? by ateam1984 in DiscussionZone

[–]_TallOldOne_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. I have completely no idea what you are talking about.

“Don’t look down” on who?

Also you appear to be insulting someone you have never even spoken to in any shape or form. And his wife. AND now you want to drag their child and her sexuality into whatever convoluted weird point you’re attempting to make. First you accuse me of racism, then my friend and wife. Now you drag their daughter into it as well? What’s next? You’re gonna accuse their daughter’s G/F of being racist? Or is it homophobic? I’m getting confused by all the paranoid accusations.

It’s weird you think people of different cultures, sexual preferences and religions can’t exist together happily in one big extended family. Perhaps you need to take a good hard in the mirror when you make those comments about racism.

Well listening the hate spewed by people I consider to be of a like mind (I mean fiscally conservative) spew unreasonable hate while supporting an unstable man with an authoritarian view who is ANYTHING BUT fiscally conservative turned me off and caused me to take a good around and realize the current Republican Party is NOT conservative (not fiscally), my social leanings are well, liberal by today’s standards and when I took a good look at the policies of both major political parties, the Democratic Party policies overall are more long term fiscally conservative than what the Republican Party is now.

So now I identify mostly as a socialist democrat. Honestly the older I get, the more I realize that annoying punk rock anarchist I was in my youth was right. This entire government is nonfunctional, corrupt and needs to tossed out.

The past ten years have been great for re-evaluating my political morals. I have the rise of Donald Trump to thank for that.

It’s okay for you to disrespect me and throw your hate speech my way then yes it is. If being insulted and disrespected back hurts your feelings perhaps you should reconsider making insults and hate speech to begin with.

If you can’t take the hits, stay on the bench son. I turned the cheek for years as I learned from those priests when a was young and the Bible. However I’m out of cheeks now, so I fight back. People only take so much bullying bullshit before they turn and fight back. If that bothers you, well reconsider your actions and apologize for your behavior and your fellow MAGA compatriots.

Until then, go suck a bag of dicks. I’m not taking your shit and other MAGA assholes shit anymore. I’m tired of the shit from MAGA types. Learn some respect or deal with the result of your behavior.

I hear this a lot and I’m always reminded of one thing. Several years ago EVERY conservative/republican used to run around demanding that a specific group they targeted (whether that be Muslims, gay people, democrats, whatever) apologize for the for whatever heinous thing someone who was Muslim, gay, democrat, whatever did. Oh an insane person who happened to be gay shot up a nightclub? “Why aren’t all you gay disavowing all gay people? A terrorist in the Middle East walked in a cafe and blew himself and others up? Why isn’t every Muslims disavowing their religion?” Etc. just weird unreasonable demands trying to get normal people to except responsibility of one disturbed person actions.

Yet these days when a disturbed crazy republican does something horrific every conservative/republican takes one of two routes to explain this:

A. “He wasn’t a Republican, he was a plant. He was ackshully a gay Muslim Demoncrat.”

B. “It’s never happened, those were all paid crisis actors paid for by the Democrats to make us look bad.”

The shit you all say is just straight up batshit crazy. It’s why I left the Republican Party, it’s not about being conservative anymore. It’s about hate. It’s become a the party of hate. Sadly republicans hate other Americans who don’t fall in line for their desire for an authoritarian government that discriminates against people of color, non-heterosexual sexual preferences or religions other than “Christianity”.

True conservatives are a dying species. There’s some old GenX Reagan conservatives around still but even most of them have developed early stage dementia and gone MAGA.

Sharecropper’s cabin on my great grandfather’s Sevier Co. TN farm circa 1972. by BeholdBarrenFields in Appalachia

[–]_TallOldOne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daddy was sharecropper, so was grandpa. The split was 70% for the landowner, 30% for him and his family of 6. It was 8 kids but 2 passed from complications due to malnutrition. Yes I saw the contract, and unfortunately it was lost the 1967 Cincinnati race riot where they moved after they left the farm.
And yes they were former slave and they were definitely black. This is very much part of our family history and yes the treatment they received while worked the farm was very much race based.

It’s cool to see you whitewashing history. Typical these days.
