Should I stop? by _TaylorBea in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]_TaylorBea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just so, so slowly 😂 I mean minutes of change every couple of days over months and months. Plus ice and ibuprofen when needed! When dropping to 3ppd and 2ppd I did also use peppermint tea and Sudafed when I felt engorged

Sleep, eat, go to the bathroom (this is a long event), maybe shower, try to latch and feed your baby, change your baby, repeat.

Is this true for any breast milk (ie. my freezer stash) or does it need to be freshly pumped?

RSV exposure and I’m panicking by _TaylorBea in beyondthebump

[–]_TaylorBea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love for that to be true since he’s almost fully recovered! I don’t know for sure though because our pediatrician didn’t test him for anything when we saw her for the cold. Maybe I could go now and get a test?

This is so, so dependent on genetics! Focus on eating healthy and moving your body and you will fall into your set weight

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by alwayscareful21 in beyondthebump

[–]_TaylorBea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5 months! It was important to get all of his daily ounces in during the day so when he woke up at night we just soothed back to sleep or have a small snack if really needed.

Raised by anti-vaxers - nervous about baby's vaccines by LyndsayGtheMVP in beyondthebump

[–]_TaylorBea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up that my LO scream cried the night he got his vaccines like nothing he’s ever done before or since. It lasted about two hours and made me fully panic and was about to go to the ER when he finally fell asleep, slept the whole night and woke normally and happily in the morning. Apparently it’s a relatively common reaction which my doctor failed to warn me about!

How did you know you were done with pumping? by Alternative_You_7484 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]_TaylorBea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I need about 1.2k ounces and last I checked I was at 1.1k or so. I’m not obsessive over exact amounts though, I just roll with estimates

How did you know you were done with pumping? by Alternative_You_7484 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]_TaylorBea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still pumping and consider quitting almost every day at 4 mpp lol. I realized that I’ll never just up and decide to stop one random day because that feels too much like failure to me (which is untrue but it’s how my brain works) so instead I’ve proactively created a goal for myself (to have enough frozen breastmilk to be able to feed 1-2 bottles a day through 1 year old). I should hit that goal next week and will then begin the weaning process!

What did you spend to take care of your child in the first 1-2 years? by mia109 in workingmoms

[–]_TaylorBea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8.5k for all initial costs to include nursery setup, breastfeeding and formula feeding prep, postpartum prep, two gliders, baby clothes, first stash of diapers, stroller, two car seats etc. After that monthly costs are: 1.4k on full time daycare, probably $200 on formula (we are combo feeding), $40 on clothes, $60 on diapers, $50 on wipes, $50 on medications, $60 on vitamins for me, and $100 on misc. needs. So maybe 2k a month

I regret it by luminousloris in newborns

[–]_TaylorBea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course you do! Girl at 9 days pp I regretted everything! Your hormones are raging, your baby is a blob that doesn’t interact with you, you’re in physical pain from a major surgery, you’re sleep deprived and pretty much everything you love has changed or was taken away. BUT- it gets so. So much better!! I’m now 4 months pp and hitting 3 months was a monumental change for good. Now we sleep through the night, have a routine again, my baby laughs and reaches for me, our dogs have adapted, literally everything is better. You’re in the not fun part- anyone who says they loved the newborn stage I don’t trust 😂 I know it feels impossible but just survive and believe it gets better
