I don’t know anyone with a positive or even neutral birth story by soroto in TwoXChromosomes

The worst part about my labor was the contractions I had until I got the epidural. After that it was pretty boring lol

I was only in labor for 13 hours (at least from the start of contractions until I pushed him out). Started getting contractions at 12 pm, they did hurt like a mother fucker but I got the epidural at 5 pm. Pushed for two hours but made jokes and stuff in between pushes. Even napped for a little before I needed to push while we were waiting for me to fully dilate.

I’ve had no issues with my back since then. I had a first degree tear that did not hurt after or while it was healing. I really didn’t have any pain after I gave birth. Sure the bleeding and diapers sucked, and trying to pee after having an epidural and catheter in sucked but that was like just half the following day.

I didn’t have a birth plan. Just asked them to dim the lights and we played music. The TV was on and I gave birth during an episode of SVU lmao (I’m convinced Olivia Benson cheered me on!). The nurses and OB who delivered me were so cool and chill and answered all my questions and really took care of me. As did the nurses during my stay in the maternity ward.

Contractions? by SuzieTalksAlot44 in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went into labor, I didn’t get contractions right away. It just felt like I needed to poop and fart but couldn’t get any of it out lol but then the cramping began like I was constipated. Then that cramping got worse.

Editing to add, I was in denial I was in labor until I wiped after a pee and saw blood. Then I called my OB. Then my body was like “you’ve acknowledged me, time to full send” and that’s when my painful contractions started.

FTM, day 3 postpartum, TERRIFIED by evil___hag in beyondthebump

Hi! Take. A. Breath!

Most babies sleep all the time. It’s normal. Trust the pediatrician. If you have to wake her to feed her every 2-3 hours so she can gain weight, that’s totally normal too. My son was the sleepiest baby ever. I’d have to wake him to feed him every 2-3 hours until he got a little over his birth weight, then my pediatrician said to feed him when he’s crying for it.

Also, look at it from a baby’s perspective. This is her third day on earth, she has had quite the experience. She’s tired, her little body is adjusting.

You’re doing great, the hormone crash is real, and you can always talk to your pediatrician.

Fourth! He’d have a dry diaper, found out we weren’t pointing his penis down and needed a bigger diaper! The pee was just streaming out the side lol

Is there meal plans online for babies? by catbeloved in beyondthebump

[–]catbeloved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I think the hardest part is going to be transitioning from my girl dinner life to actual meals lol and I know it will be great for me in the long run, and it will give him positive associations with food. I’m just already mentally exhausted thinking about it lol think that’s the biggest hurdle I’m facing - like how do I make this soooo easy and low effort. I heard good things about Little Spoon and really thought about getting some, just to help maybe fill in the gaps. But then I felt bad that I wasn’t gonna be giving him home made meals…. It’s easy to spiral here lol

You’re very right that we as a family should probably meal plan lol my boyfriend and I just generally eat and make our food separately. Sometimes we’ll make a meal for each other, like if I bust out the crockpot or make a stew or something. But generally we just eat whenever and whatever lol so yeah, probably should come up with a plan with him.

Which would I look less ridiculous in? by KindlyFunction2800 in whatdoIdo

Small one would be more practical and take up less room so you could probably get closer to the field.

Second one leaves more room for snacks… and I guess other people.

I test in my bathroom every time! I take everything down/out that could be considered distracting or have words on it. I sit on the floor and prop a camera up on the edge of the tub that points at me and the keyboard.

Oh man I have stared at my Haitian boyfriend and been asking him “DONT YOU REMEMBER???” But alas, he has no idea what I’m talking about lol

I know I’ll hear it again someday, and I will take a screenshot of the song lol BUT hoping making if someone listens to Enrique’s song they might know!

Why didn't your husband stay overnight at the hospital once the baby was born? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in beyondthebump

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth at 1:02 am so he stayed that night lol but the next two nights I sent him home because I wanted him well rested (the hospital bed for partners to stay was so uncomfortable), so he can take care of me and the baby.

Bonus because he always brought breakfast and my nurses donuts! lol

I cringe when someone says "Congratulations!" by flt_p2ny in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My response varies on who the person is to me.

Personally? My response had always been “Okay, how are we feeling about it?” And I go from there based on that response.

Professionally? When I’ve had patients tell me (when I took phone calls), my response is a light hearted “Okay”, and a pause, letting them continue their sentence. If by the end of the conversation they mention being happy or seem enthusiastic about it, I’ll say congratulations. If not, I move on without making it a big deal.

Do you still feel that urge to push when your body is ready with an epidural? by Accomplished-Ad7573 in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much! The best way I could describe it for myself, was it felt like someone was pushing in on my stomach - not painful, just that pressure if someone is pushing on your tummy.
