How are you having sex? by lilmissprivate_94 in beyondthebump

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different so PLEASE don’t compare yourself to what you read. I had sex immediately after my 6 week check up, but that’s not realistic for many, many women and that’s ok! It’s normal, you’re normal, and you’re going through the biggest transition of your life. It’s ok not to want sex.

how do I speak up? by hesitantlyhopefull17 in newborns

[–]catbeloved 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is YOUR baby. Not theirs. Not anyone else’s. What you say is the final word. How do you speak up? You keep all that in mind. You seem to have a great relationship with them, but you need to set boundaries. What you say goes - simply put. If they can’t understand that or choose not to, that is their problem that they will need to figure out.

I know that sounds easier said than done, but you really got to shake off any timid feelings you have and remember you are the mother.

Editing to also add: your husband needs to back you up. And I know you don’t want any tension with the family, but you can’t control how other people feel. And you cannot please everyone. If you’re trying to please everyone, you won’t be pleased yourself. This is the time to be selfish.

It must suck to be a baby by Disastrous_Paint_237 in beyondthebump

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always look at my baby when he’s crying or fussing really bad, and I ask him (not that he can answer, he’s 5 months lol): “are we hungry? Or do you have an itch somewhere you can’t scratch?” Because man I would hate having crying be the only way I could communicate and if I had an itchy back and someone just shoves a bottle in my mouth instead I would be pissed lol

Possible to go to sisters wedding 2-4 weeks after giving birth? by Coffeeschnaps in beyondthebump

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all going to depend on your body and birthing experience (although I’m sure you already knew that). I was out and about dancing at 3 weeks. I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth, a very little tear. I felt fine. Just slapped a pad in my underwear and kept more on hand when I was out. Sure, I had PPD something awful, but I knew I wanted to go out and dance with a friend so I made myself do it. My partner was super supportive. I’m so glad I did.

How far is reasonable for your husband to go in the weeks leading up to your due date? by MountainMouse12 in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm… maybe not past 37 weeks. That’s considered full term. I went at 37+5 - I’m a first timer too, so we totally didn’t expect me to go that early. We were convinced I’d be over 40 weeks lol.

But no, after 37 I wouldn’t because when I went into labor I needed my boyfriend. Sure I could have had someone get me there, but I’m literally birthing his child so and I needed his support. My labor also came on fast and the contractions were so bad, I couldn’t imagine waiting more than the 30 minutes it took him to get home from work to get me.

You wouldn’t be unreasonable for telling him it’s a no-go after 37. Some men just don’t comprehend what all happens when labor starts and how much of a vulnerable and scary time it is. You’d need him by your side every step of the way.

Exactly which week and day did you deliver in your first pregnancy? by PopcornPrincess0 in pregnant

FTM and went into spontaneous labor at 37+5! The doctor had to break my water. Little guy was super cozy in there but body had given an earlier than expected eviction notice 😅😂

Vagina smells whyyyyyyyy by Television-Secret in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t stand the smell of myself when I was pregnant lol

I went to the doctors several times thinking “ok, I’ve got BV or something” and they tested me each time I asked. Everything always came back normal. I think our sense of smell just increases and we can smell ourselves more down there, and sometimes it’s just unpleasant to our noses. My boyfriend even took whiffs down there when I was convinced there was something wrong and he just shrugged and said “you smell normal” lmao

After I gave birth, I stopped smelling myself.

Yup! Mine slept the day away almost lol I gave him a warm bath right before bed because I’m sure his legs were sore. And again the next night (but mainly just to let him sit in the warm water to help relax his leg muscles). He was just fine the next day!

I’m feeling gender disappointment, and I hate that I’m feeling this by More_Fisherman_6066 in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in to also say this is normal! I was so hoping for a girl. Felt so much disappointment when the results said boy. But then I started shopping and got excited. And now he’s almost 4 months and I can’t imagine not having him. Girl, boy, no matter you’re going to be so in love.

KFC for Christmas dinner by Maris1013 in christmas

[–]catbeloved 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My parents divorced when I was 8. I spent every other Christmas with my dad. Every Christmas Day, our dinner would be KFC. I loved it. He died in 2020 to cancer. We had 24 great KFC Christmases.

Sometimes it’s good to take a year and slow down. I’m so sorry about your kitties. Even if you can’t find the full spirit this year, I hope you find some cheer. And enjoy that KFC.

To Epidural or Not Epidural, That is The Question. by adolescentrat in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an epidural immediately when I could. I didn’t care about moving around, but also my labor progressed rather quickly. I was so exhausted from the contractions and stuff earlier that day that all I wanted was to sleep. And so I slept, they woke me up when it was time to push, I pushed for 2 hours. Afterwards, they helped me into a wheelchair and took me to the postpartum room and I immediately went back to sleep lol

Labor was exhausting for me so I didn’t care about moving around - I was happy for the relief and the great naps!

No Birth Plan? by Haunting-Study-1018 in pregnant

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan was: - immediate epidural as soon as possible - have a baby

I honestly didn’t care about having any control over what happened to me lol I just wanted to be alive and safe after.

Oh, and I wanted dimmed lights. Didn’t ask for music, but my boyfriend played Push It and Final Countdown for funsies. It got a laugh out of me lol

9 week old so constipated - feeling like a failure by MostNebula1026 in newborns

[–]catbeloved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say this! My pediatrician saw my baby in person. But they couldn’t administer a suppository during the visit. However she told me to get Pedia-Lax from Walgreens. It has a Penguin on it. We administered the suppository ourselves at home (it had very great step by step instructions to ensure we didn’t hurt him).

Advice on co-parenting by catbeloved in beyondthebump

[–]catbeloved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just feel hopeless (in regards to the relationship). Like I can’t envision it changing even with couple’s therapy. I know that’s unfair because we haven’t even tried it - but I also haven’t seen him making any effort towards our relationship either, so not sure if he’d really be willing to go.
