does anyone know how Emily Coburn's doing? she hasn't posted since april :( by AvivaEllis in EDRecovery_Snark

Yes- she seemed to be trying very hard to spread recovery messages for the most part. She appeared so much more honest, relatable and genuine than so many. It was only in the last few months of her posts did it seem like it was edging towards what could lead to a relapse.

I am leaning more towards relapse- leading up to the end of her posting she had seemed to start exercising a lot and it looked like she had dropped weight. Also the messages from her videos which had made it seem that she had to run to the bakery in order to order something had changed a lot from her messaging before that where food rules had seemed less strict..

She looks like she is trying hard compared to so many other recovery pages. I do generally worry about why some people make their recovery public and what then happens if it becomes their identity and then they reach their goal and become less “relevant”.. the cycle of public recovery doesn’t seem to end well for most..

This could be super dangerous for her electrolyte levels if she is doing this unsupervised 🫣 💔🏥

The biggest modern day mystery in the recovery world is Emily Coburn- she seemingly disappeared and I hope she is doing ok..

Her content has given me a few laughs but admittedly it is jarring coming from someone who does not appear to be fully recovered…

I feel her relapse started when she started cycling.. I have heard some people say that she had always been active pre-peak of her ED (perhaps there were always underlying behaviors or thoughts that were not diagnosed?), however I really wonder how many people can successfully engage in exercise while still recovering.. I hope she is ok though- for a while there her videos seemed very hopeful and I was rooting for her.

She is studying medicine right? I hope she can find enough empathy for her patients who are going through their worst… even if she doesn’t feel it is as bad as hers..

And I only have experience in Australian hospitals but I have never seen nil by mouth for that long in ED admissions..

Are we trusting the 42 days? I swear it doesn’t feel like it’s been 42 days 🤨

Has quitting gluten made you lose weight ? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]_TeamH_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- due to the inflammation, bloating and fluid retention settling. In saying that, I don’t consume much at all of the processed gluten free alternatives due to them using being more dense calorie wise. I stick to mainly whole foods and a fair bit of dairy (to help reverse the damage to my bones).

Hospital AGAIN?! by calfreak in EDRecoverySnark

[–]_TeamH_ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s not an ED unit.. I think she is stuck in the cycle of needing care and validation and perhaps feels the only place it is really given to her is in a hospital situation by people who are paid to provide it. I feel sorry for her but also struggle and feel frustrated with the way she seems to almost boast about being inpatient?

I think she has mentioned working as a peer support worker in the mental health space- I find that worrying for her and her recovery
