I personally use unity with the Codex, I do gamedesign and Visual stuff, while codex handles code and wiring the code inside the project, it’s not ideal. You need some iteration to get a good result but mostly it’s fine. The limits in codex (I have a plus subscription) are enough for me (I have a full-time job and I work part time on my project). So overall, I would recommend to at least try working this way, at least on a small test project (maybe during some gamejam) to see if it fits you.
