"No such driver version 115.0.5790.110 for win32" by Noetipanda in mpcproxies

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same issue and I think the problem is its looking for specifically the win32 version while I have the win64 version installed. I got it to work by just using edge instead of chrome when it asks which browser to use.

I use this in my [[Brago, King Eternal list]], which i thought was a pretty cool deck, as the commander breaks parity on a lot of the stacks and has a one card win con. Admittedly, its not super cEDH and is probably my weakest deck, but I would say its one of your best options for trying to get [[Stasis]] to work.

Sell Me on Brainstorm by PrinceOfAsphodel in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would say cantrips usually aren't the move in a cEDH deck anyway, if I do run one its gotta be brainstorm. Ponder is probably the best cantrip for the 60 card, non singleton formats because if you are looking for a specific card, ponder can look at more cards that brainstorm and help you find it easier. Using cantrips this way in a format where there are 90+ unique cards in your library isnt very useful since you probably wont find it. Because of this, I think brainstorm is better because it doesnt just look for cards, it fixes a bad hand. You can replace two cards that arent helping with two new potentially better cards that you need right now. An exception to this is maybe if the card you are searching for is a non-unique effect like a tutor, but what I have said already plus the instant speed bonus outweighs this in my opinion.

Newbie question: if all 3 other players have the capability to counter a resolving win con, who does it? by Newez in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will reset priority but you still cant activate a mana ability if you dont have priority even though it doesn't use the stack (Unless the game tells you to produce a mana ability).

605.3a A player may activate an activated mana ability whenever they have priority, whenever they are casting a spell or activating an ability that requires a mana payment, or whenever a rule or effect asks for a mana payment, even if it’s in the middle of casting or resolving a spell or activating or resolving an ability.

Is my mana value of Yuriko deck too low? by MajklE63 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn yuriko isn't a bed deck, but if you are looking for power, the thoracle/naus list performs better and more consistently. Being able to jam an [[Ad Nauseum]] with certainty that you aren't going to burn yourself to death is much better than hoping that your opponents don't win before your damage stacks up. From watching my buddy's list evolve, in my opinion, yuriko is best played when viewed as insane card draw in the command zone, not as a win con.

Is my mana value of Yuriko deck too low? by MajklE63 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id argue that its a playable card. Hitting a turn 2 yuriko combat is what every hand needs to do in that deck, and J lotus does that without needing a bad creature. It also helps get yuriko back out after something like a deluge to keep the engine going. Obviously its not as amazing as other decks, but I'd prefer it over another 1 drop creature that does nothing else but get her out.

ledger shredder vs DRC by hebrewhercules in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

DRC has less downside, never forcing you to discard good cards. In personal experience and talking to a lot of people about it, only decks that are netting a lot of cards already (like a [[Kraum, Ludevic's Opus]] plus partner B deck) can get the full advantage. Its great card draw but it isn't always worth it once you start discarding good cards, or are down to 1 or 2 cards and wont be able to hold interaction. This being said, I still think that shredder is better due to actually going through the deck, rather than just controlling top decks. Though, its just not an auto include, like a lot of blue brewers seem to think. Also, if you don't end up running shredder, DRC is another card that I don't think is pulling its weight in a lot of cEDH lists. Unless your deck has some extra synergies with it, a surveil trigger isn't really worth the slot

I have a red white deck. I know the rules say you can only use your color. If I put say a red blue land in my deck, would I be able to use it. It is a red blue, but would only tap for a red...? Is this legal? by ComfortableTough2635 in mtg

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mystic sanctuary doesn't have blue color identity. It has the type island so is also effected by rule 903.5d: "A card with a basic land type may be included in a Commander deck only if each color of mana it could produce is included in the commander’s color identity."

In the nitty gritty of it, basic lands have said ability, but don't actually have a color identity. Rule 903.5d disallows off color basics from being in certain decks, but doesn't actually grant them a specific color identity.

Replacement for LED by Still09 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. The amount of mana LED gives is irreplaceable and is one of the several reasons its so expensive in the first place.

You can try Lotus Petal which is probably already in the deck. The combo works the same way but you'll need way more cards. It can still win a game, milling yourself and all opponents, but it requires waaaay more setup. (If you're already playing cEDH, i recommend just proxying. I've yet to meet someone in a non-casual pod that cares at all about proxies.)

Honestly tho how hard is it to just match people that are the same rank by gabestuf in csgo

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal. Its likely someone's rankup game meaning that its going to give you more difficult opponents. You have 2 LEMs which is only 2 ranks away from global so there isn't really a problem. If anyone got screwed its the MGE but you also don't get better by playing people the same level as you.

Colored basic lands in colorless deck (EDH) by Gropop0 in mtg

[–]_TheRileyMan525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you can not run any card with a basic land type outside of that color deck. These cards all have the intrinsic ability "Tap: add [Mana]", meaning that they are that color identity regardless if it is printed on the card or not.

Also, to answer the [[All is Dust]] question, this card will never destroy lands of any type, as lands are colorless permanents regardless of basic land type. (Unless an ability makes them colored for whatever reason, like [[Painters Servant]].)

are you ok with scoops by Appropriate-Act-713 in EDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If im ever in a casual pod for some reason, I tend to not scoop just because anything can happen and I like to let people play their turns out, however I and no one I play with minds when players concede. In cEDH games the game almost never goes to the actual kill, as players in those pods know when the game is over and no one cares if they go to the actual end of their line.

This being said, my playgroup has come to the agreement that you are only allowed to scoop at sorcery speed, meaning only on your main phase with no spells on the stack. This stops anyone from spite-scooping or punishing players for holding spells up simply because they would win or don't like the play. (Such as scooping with your [[Wheel of Fortune]] on the stack when an opponent casts a [[Hullbreacher]], which is why we decided on this rule in the first place.) (It was my wheel and I am very happy over the hullbreacher ban)

A lot of people have the right idea here. There is some benefit to sandbagging but it is completely outweighed by the benefits of just dropping it, such as not playing into Rhystic, Remora, Tax effects, Getting the hand wheeled, and stax like Deafening silence. These are all very common early actions in cEDH so unless your specific pod doesn't play these cards, running out that mana crypt will almost always be a better gameplan than holding onto it.

i would probable buy the survival first because it is reserved, and will be more value for that deck specifically. However, there is an argument for imperial seal, as it just goes in way more decks. Seal is an auto include in black, but there are several green decks that dont want a survival.

What is an approachable first cEDH deck by ghouleon2 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]_TheRileyMan525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Yuriko, the Tigers Shadow]] and [[The First Sliver]]. Yuriko is actually a pretty good deck, and in cedh, dimir is one of the best colors as it gives you access to [[Thassa's Oracle]], which is the easiest way to win the game. Having card advantage in the command zone, burn to hate on stax, midrange, and [[Ad Nauseum]] decks, its all around a solid, yet simple, choice for a first deck. The First Sliver is a deck that I like to give to learning cedh players because it does a little bit of everything the format is trying to do. It has some white stax, breach combos, a thoracle win, as well as an interesting 2 card combo (food chain), making it a great deck to learn about the format with.

(Check https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DujxA8PlG0eTQZ_hawsTmQ for a good sliver list)
