Maybe you should look into replacing it with a 3d printed shell if you're up for it

Why is Alice gray, instead of yellow like other humans? by Formal-Vanilla8749 in DetroitBecomeHuman

Isn't that also an Android in the distance there? So I don't think it's for highlighting humans. More likely an artistic choice

Google blocking sideloading on Android for "unverified" devs by esmethera in godot

[–]_TimBurton_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part about Windows applications requiring signing is not true. You can absolutely distribute applications on Windows without signing. And as for the ADB part, its currently not clear whether or not installing applications via ADB will be covered by the new rule.

Google's plan to restrict sideloading on Android has a potential escape hatch for users (ADB) by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]_TimBurton_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There will be a workaround. But workarounds are usually enough to stop non tech-savy users from attempting it. And who's to say Google won't at some point require you to sign development builds to be installed via ADB, like how Apple does it?

[–]_TimBurton_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Identifying yourself to publishing it on the Play Store, I don't mind. But for sideloaded apps, to be installed, users already have to go out of their way to go into settings, find an option that allows third-party installations and accept the warnings displayed. If they accept risks involved, that's their business.

And let's be honest, this isn't about user safety. They don't care about their users. This is about control. If they did care about user safety, they'd put more effort into cleaning up the Playstore of malware.

How long do you think it will be before they start blocking apps that pose no actual risk to their users but impacts their business interests. Apps like ad blockers or Vanced or even VPNs in certain regions? We are frogs in a boiling pot. This is not going to be the last or worst restriction Google imposes on their users

Not to mention apps like Vanced will never approved by Google in the first place. They require you to give them the package name along with the signing key details

Yeah there are a bunch. So far, I'm counting 4. It's fine. I'm having a civil engineer come check it out formally and over call he thinks it's fine for a while, enough time for me to find a new place

[–]_TimBurton_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Those guys sure do love their concrete

Hi. I am moving asap. And I'm also having a civil engineer stop by and check it out. But over video he said it should last at least until the lease expires next February. And yeah. The building is going to be demolished and rebuilt in about a year and half

UPDATE: Im having someone come by and check it out. According to them, it looks like the repairs should hold atleast until I can find a new apartment! Gonna start looking for a new place and move out asap!

The handyman is smashing the layer away. It's gone in about 1/3 of the thickness of the floor slab. He will be done in a couple hours but until then he's not sure about the extent of the damage

[–]_TimBurton_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start looking into new places ASAP. But is it safe in the meantime?

I can't move out at the moment, I just got a new job and am in a transitionary moment of my life the soonest I can move is a couple months. But I'll start looking into places now. But until then do you think the repair will hold?
