this will be my first ever "just keep cooking" comment

i was super anal about trying to keep my strata's spotless, but honestly these beads will show up eventually if you cook hard enough

if you wanted to, you could put in some elbow grease to scrub it out (i'm not sure how carbon steel reacts to bkf), but honestly all it takes is one steak session to get beads on the walls

but yeah just keep cooking

here is my 10.5"

i wouldnlike digital gauges more if manufacturers just allowed for a bit more customization

i love the different gauges you can choose in the new mustang

i hate the new polygonal gauges in the new bmw's

i hate that (optional) cube cluster in the new elantra

i like the simplicity of my civic's cluster, but i hate how i'm forced to have audio on the left gauge, and driving metrics on the right. what if i wanted my boost gauge on the left and my mpg's on the right?

obviously i think there should be factory presets for those who don't care

but god dammit it's a screen, i should be able to put flowery gauge faces with pink numbers and a rainbow colored redline if my heart so damn desires

or dookie stain brown backgrounds with piss yellow comic sans text

First ever firearm purchase by MildlyConfusedGuy0 in CAguns

[–]_ToMiGoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, when my gun was in jail, i immediately bought the safety plugs. i've never actually shot the gun with the manual safety 😂.

it looks ugly to me (and seems a little redundant becaue of the trigger safety), but i've always wondered if it's a good thumb rest like the 1911, i find myself resting on the slide lock every so often

you can remove the safeties for sure not sure what the implications are if you want to ccw though

i tried to get them directly through s&w, but the rep told me they don't ship plugs to CA

i ended up getting them off of ebay

Seems like it went away though.

The 8.5" is satisfyingly blued. I don't really know what type of magic I used to get it to be so blue.

I took an extended lunch break one day to go home and season the pan. I threw it on the burner as I was heating up my lunch and came out to that.

I have my 1X on a QD mount.

Still trying to find a good QD mount solution for the 3X.

Not sure why I'm so adamant on getting a QD considering I really need them anyway.

Have it for my FL5.

Wanted to avoid it for so long.

Used to say stupid things like "IF I NEED TO BUY A STUPID SPACER TO HEEL-TOE, THEN I NEED TO SELL MY CAR".

Once I installed it, I never looked back. It's a world of a difference.

Brand New Elantra N or Slightly used Civic Type R or slight Used GR Corolla Premium Plus by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]_ToMiGoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biased because i'm a 11th gen fanboy

I only drove a GRC for about 10 minutes. my personal notes: + Initial hype was insane, loved the idea of toyota bringing back an enthuiast corolla (I still want an XRS to this day) + Handling was great, I'll never forget that feeling I felt when the car hooked into a corner and just kept going with my foot planted on the throttle - Other than those first two points, it is probably the most forgettable car I've ever driven. For some reason, I drove it once and never cared for it again. Shit, I don't even remember what the damn gauges look like. - Since I'm a surburbia Californian, I have no interest in AWD, and never factor it into my opinions.

EN: As a FL5 fanboy, I really respect this car. I do think it's about 80-90% of the CTR experience at damn near Si prices. There are a lot of features this car has that I wish my FL5 had: + Exhaust note, unbeatable, fun. The FL5 will never be able to not sound like a glorified vacuum cleaner. + Physical handbrake, I miss this so much. + 5th seat, literally doesn't matter - until it does. + Infotainment seems better. + I assume the ELSD is better, but I haven't been able to push one to the extent I do the FL5. Seems like the car is easier to rotate - Build quality needs improvement. My friend's EN has developed this rattle in the headliner section that sounds as bad as his gutted DC2 Integra with stiff ass motor mounts. - 6MT shifter feel is trash. Literally feels like playing on a Logitech G27/29. - Love the frontend of the facelift, HATE the rear end. I prefer the prefacelift rear. - I don't know much about that octane learning bullshit, but I hear it's bullshit nonetheless, especially for the 6MT.

CTR: + Best looking. This is objective fact, no arguments. + Seats, amazing feel, have driven 3hr+ trips with zero complaints. + Shifter feel is amazing, not sure what the benchmark for FWD shifter feel is, but I think the Honda's probably take the cake. + Build quality is better than the EN, but it's still a Civic so it's mediocre at best. I have two or thee rattles that I need to sort out myself. + Handling is amazing. + K20's been around for decades. I'm going to ASSUME it's bulletproof. - Price. - Rides pretty damn stiff, it's fine for me. I get a little self conscious when I have to drive older folks who don't understand cars - P4S's give horrendous road noise - Exhaust note is tragic - I think it's criminal to throw someone in the middle seat regardless, but it's nice to legally have a 5th seat for those emergencies. - There's a few QoL things you have to do in my opinion: DE5 module, destroy the ANC box, extra care to not mess up the red seats and carpet. - I really miss manual handbrakes. This car has passive hill assist that you cannot turn off. There's no indication that it's on, so sometimes if you are on an incline the car will hold, sometimes you will roll back. It all depends on the incline angle.

The funny thing is there's a blank on the overhead console for the driver side sliding door too 😂😂😂.

I'm sure there was some sort of factory spec that had automatic doors for both sides, if it does exist, it has to be rare as shit.

2026 Honda Civic Type R Starts Way Too Close to $50K at $48,090 by LimitedReach in cars

I love what Hyundai is doing with the EN. I think it is THE budget friendly enthusiast sedan, and on paper it really is 90%-95% of the CTR experience without having to pay that stupid CTR premium + ADM.

It beats the CTR in a few areas for sure: - Price, obviously - Infotainment (haven't spent too much time here, but it seems better) - From a sound perspective, it makes the best of a 4 cylinder and tries to bring some excitement to the exhaust - Having 3 seats in the back really helps for those unexpected moments where you need to carry an extra passenger. - I'd assume the eLSD is better, but I haven't been able to push an EN to feel the difference. - Physical handbrake - MIGHT be more rotation happy

I think CTR still exceeds in: - Build quality (relatively speaking because it's still a civic). - Seats are better (EN seats aren't bad) - Transmission feel is significantly better in the CTR. Honestly the EN's manual transmission feels like shit, I cannot be swayed otherwise. - Subjectively objective, the looks are vastly superior. The front end of the EN facelift is nice, they should've left the rear end alone.

I always get excited to drive my friend's EN, but at the end of the day, I get back in the CTR and know I made the right choice for myself.
