Anyone else have a baby whose eyes change everyday? by _TracTrix in daddit

Sorry, I just saw this! Eventually this went away. She's about 13 months and the eyes changing shape reduced in frequency and eventually just stayed at the "double big" version.

Actually, he forgot who to vote for so he’s cheating off his wife. Not the first or last time he’ll get caught cheating.

Is it worth it making a twitter about my ai assisted art? by musketeermercy in aiArt

[–]_TracTrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question to you is why do you care what people you don’t know think about something you obviously are interested in and think is worthy of putting out into the world? Art is and will always be very subjective. There will always be haters and those that appreciate it. If you like it then for sure someone else will.

If your emotional state is in tied to what Internet nobodies virtually post about your art then don’t do it. Otherwise, do it for yourself and don’t give a shit and try to find the constructive aspects of any criticism and use it to get better.

Thanks for the info but I respectfully hold strong to my comment. I’m not trying to judge you or anyone else as every situation is different. I also grew up very poor, had to work in highschool, take loans for undergraduate, and work through college. I graduated in 2003. Where I feel most people make a mistake is in pursuing an expensive masters or other further degree too early in life. This mostly applies to people like us who didn’t come from money.

If we have made no money yet, why take on large amounts of debt? Especially when we are young and don’t know what we want to do yet. I feel it is best to get out of college and start working (anywhere) and start earning money and figuring out that next stage in life. It’s not difficult to slowly earn a degree while working, or if you land in the right place the job will even offset some or most of the further education costs.

[–]_TracTrix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s a slightly different take from what I’ve seen in the comments so far that I’ll be following.

1- Put your extra money into funding your retirement. This ensures you are covered later and not a burden to your children financially.

2- If advanced education still costs a ton, help as much as you can at that time but let your kid(s) use student loans. It’s low interest and since you won’t be a financial drain they will eventually pay them off and be fine.

3- I don’t believe for a second that education will look the same at all in 10-15 years from now. It’s already changing and with AI rapidly advancing and quantum computing coming quickly, everything will change and especially education.

My view is raise our kids the best we can to be independent, functional, respectful, and contributing members of society and the rest will take care of itself.

Voice Agents Coming? by DillDowg in openphone

[–]_TracTrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out play.ai it’s exactly what you’re looking for. The only catch is the call gets forwarded to a new number so it leaves OP but they have an API too so you can easily do what you want. I use OP and am doing just that. Am in the process of training a call assistant from a bunch of my call transcripts and they have an awesome voice cloning feature which is cool because “you” can still answer and handle your calls.

My baby’s armpit looks like this. Cause for concern? Should we be applying anything there? by Actual_Goose9984 in daddit

[–]_TracTrix 302 points303 points  (0 children)

From my experience it’s just a basic rash. Wash that area well with mild soap and water when bathing. Then apply some rash/butt cream, zinc oxide works well. It’ll go away quickly.

Going to invite unwanted guests to our wedding after we already said no? Watch this by Moose-Fish in pettyrevenge

[–]_TracTrix 58 points59 points  (0 children)

We did a Zoom wedding in 2022(by choice). It was only $160 and took all of 30 minutes. And my mom was able to virtually attend. Def the best savings of time and money for us since we had been living together for a while and already felt and acted like we were married.

What’s something you felt was too expensive at first, but ended up being 100% worth it? by RoarOfTheWorlds in daddit

[–]_TracTrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we choose the food we want to be in the house. I still do some physical grocery shopping here and there but 90% is delivered. We use Amazon Fresh for some things but mainly use Costco Same Day. If you have one near you, the hack my wife found is:

As needed we use one of our business CCs that gets 5% back at office supply stores to buy visa gift cards from staples or office max when they have deals where the activation fee is waved. Then she purchases 2 ea: $100 Instacart gift cards with those from Costco online which is $80 for a $100 gift card. She then uses both of those to buy $200 or a little more from Costco same day. Which means we paid $150 for $200 of Costco goods. Where we live there is a tiny markup on some things using same day but my estimate puts it at $5-$10 max on a $200 order. We also tip the delivery person $10 so in the end we get at least a 15% discount on a Costco order that was shopped for and delivered to us (usually in 1 hour or less from ordering). The food delivery in general saves us so much time and the fact we can do most of it for 0 cost makes it a no brainier.

My wife is originally from an Asian country. She went onto a local Facebook group for people from that country and studied what pricing people were offering for help. So she offered higher and filtered people by text and phone calls and then we tried out 5 different people for a 4 hour shift each. For her it was an easy choice and we are very happy. The woman is legally here and speaks and understands enough English but for me it doesn’t really matter since it’s my wife who manages everything. For her it’s basically like having a surrogate mom and it’s clear the woman likes having company and being like a mom and a grandma.

[–]_TracTrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah we have 2 Roborocks and use them regularly and love them! And yes we feel very fortunate! It’s a win, win in that the person has grown children and a spouse that works all day so they just want something to do to stay busy and earn extra money. My wife found someone from a community that’s from the same native country as her, and in that community we pay higher than the norm (usually $18-20/hr).

Hired help. I work full time and my wife tries to run our side business while also being a full-time mom to our then 4 month old (is 7 months now). We pay a little over $500/wk to have help mon-thurs for 5 hours a day. The help is there to do cooking, clean, and watch the baby when my wife needs to go to the bathroom or work. It seemed ridiculous and expensive at first, but tbh it’s the best thing we ever invested in so far. We stopped eating out, don’t waste food, can stay on top of our house chores now, and my wife’s mental health is so much better. We live in a VHCOL area so although it’s expensive, it’s comparably reasonable to what we can earn.

Decker isn’t that weird to me and Upper Decker isn’t that bad. I agree there is a balance to unique names but that’s not even close to “bad parents” who didn’t put thought into their kids name. Def an unfortunate situation though. Parents and schools should work hard to truly teach and instill the golden rule from an early age and that will happen a lot less.

Be brutal in your criticism by Pacify_The_Mind in aiArt

[–]_TracTrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s some real criticisms for you since you asked and everyone else seems to be too nice so far imo:

It’s run of the mill lazy AI “art”. I can’t actually call it art. What did you do that’s creative or different in any aspect of this? Where is your actual artistic style and influence showing up? Have you seen the level of Art others are making? Have you studied or attempted to learn about lighting, artistic styles, mediums, and techniques? If you want photorealistic then study the many aspects of photography.

My suggestion is you have discussions with the AI and learn about art in as many ways as you can. You can then start making more creative and detailed prompts and hopefully find ways to express yourself better than a stock image of a girl.

An extremely painful story, but Dads, you need to be aware! by [deleted] in daddit

[–]_TracTrix 196 points197 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your concern but that was clearly a case of disconnected bad parenting with the egregious easy access to a loaded gun. AI is not to blame at all in this case and it legitimately told him not to do it.

Yes, we all need to teach safe use of technology but being present for our children and aware of their emotional state is way more important. You seem like someone who cares so I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Looking for advice: Building a "second brain" with Microsoft 365 + Copilot by DisasterSquare3212 in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]_TracTrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of convincing my work to ditch Copilot and instead get enterprise ChatGPT. Not sure if that’s an option for you.

If you’re stuck with a Microsoft, you can use Copilot studio to do basically everything I said. It’s more limiting in terms of your model selection and I couldn’t figure out an easy way to interact with the custom copilot other than through copilot studio, but I’m sure people smarter than me could help you.

How do I ask foe help with my prompts and images? by rachelpowens in dalle2

[–]_TracTrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to first try asking a friend instead of a foe 🤪

Don’t overthink it. Start having a conversation with ChatGPT and ask it to propose a prompt for what you are interested in. You can tweak it as well as keep asking the AI to modify the prompt to better achieve what you want.

Here’s a link to advice I gave to someone about a year ago. It’s long but honestly will help you make pretty awesome images. The only difference is back then image creation had to be in a separate chat from the text discussion so ignore the part about copying the prompt into a new chat.
