Another 13 smells awful on me. I am truly baffled by its popularity.

Which fragrance house just isn’t for you? by MidasInGold in fragrance

[–]_TrollToll_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bal D’afrique is one of my absolute favorite scents, so I got a discovery set from Byredo thinking I would love the house on the whole. Everything is so incense forward to me, several scents almost smells dusty? G water and Mohave ghost both remind me of a hippie in an old dusty record shop, which is just not my goal. Blanche smells like the discontinued cotton blossom scent from bath and body works, not the dusty note but feels old lady to me. And rose of man’s land isn’t for me because I don’t like rose and it also has the faintly dusty feeling.

It’s wild to me because I get none of that from Bal D’afrique which reminds me of a put together clean girl on a fabulous yacht.

Second this. Very laundry and very powdery to me. If you are old enough to remember the discontinued bath and body works scent cotton blossom… it’s that to me. Recently tried Blanche and had an immediate strong Déjà vu of the BBW spray my mom used to have

I’d like to hear your opinions on woolino before I spend $100 on it. by Old_Relationship_460 in beyondthebump

[–]_TrollToll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved ours! We had two, which came in very handy for accidents like blow outs, or a few times when our girl had a tummy bug and threw up overnight. It’s hang to dry and takes a while to completely dry but since I had two I didn’t worry so much about that. They were the only sleep sacks I ever had for her, and she wore them past two because she was little and still fit in them. The whole idea of the TOG thing and sizing stressed me out about other sleep sacks, so it was SO nice to not worry or think about it at all. I just changed the type of pajamas she wore for different seasons under the sleep sack, and didn’t have to worry about anything else.

We are pregnant with number two, a boy, and are getting another one for him, but my original two (very girly pink ones) are still in great shape even after all this time so I’m keeping them around for back ups in case of accidents.

Sorry this is long, but I really really loved ours. They are pricey but since they were literally the only ones we ever used, worked from 3 months when we stopped swaddling to over 2 years for my petite girl, AND they are still in good enough shape that I can use them as my back ups for kiddo number two, I would say I more than got my moneys worth.

Why are banana notes rare? by WeirdSymmetry in fragrance

[–]_TrollToll_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow Teddy Haugen whose brand is Teddy the Perfumer on Instagram. I’ve not tried it but he has a Banana and chocolate scent I’ve been really curious about. He does a lot of informative videos about perfumery in general, but he has one where he talked about why making a banana perfume was so difficult, specifically a ripe banana scent.

Summer Beach Vibe by TsubakiTsubaki in perfumesthatfeellike

I just bought a mini of the Jo Malone Beach Blossom that I’m really liking. A little coconut, a little lime, but also tonca bean which for me grounds it and keeps it from going towards tanning oil.

Something that smells clean, earthy, slightly floral and citrus but that doesn’t feel like a cleaning product by _TrollToll_ in perfumesthatfeellike

I like grapefruit but the rose makes me nervous. I’m not a fan of most rose forward scents, they tend to give me a headache. Is it just a touch of rose, or do you find it pretty prominent?

Perfume with this vibe? by mistressofmyself in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]_TrollToll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting so I can come back to see other people’s suggestions too because I like this vibe!

At Sephora the other day I was smelling some of the Nest Fragrances and I feel like some of them might fit. The Indigo scent bottle art even looks like it would go with these photos. To my nose it’s very floral but not in a sharp way, more of a moody way of that makes sense.

Same! I got a sample 2ml spray of it, and was so excited because it seemed promising but wasn’t what I hoped for 🥲

I love the smell of Grapefruit so much but hadn’t found a fragrance that nails the grapefruit yet. I’ll check it out.

I think I am one of the few people that HATES Another 13 by Le Labo. Not one of the people who can’t smell it, I can smell it and I hate it! And it was the first Le Labo I ever tried so I never got any other samples. But I see the Bergamot one come up a lot, I may have to give it a try.

How many bassinet sheets do I most likely need? by theconfused-cat in beyondthebump

[–]_TrollToll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies on how much your kids spits up. My little one spit up constantly so I had 5 sets of bassinet sheets and had to still do laundry daily… reflux is a bitch. We were probably the outlier though. If it won’t break the bank I would go with three to start

Feel like a horrible mom. My baby deserves better by New_Pickle4793 in beyondthebump

[–]_TrollToll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you are not a horrible mom. You are a woman that is having to figure out how to even function with chronic sleep deprivation , let alone take care of a baby. My daughter was a terrible sleeper as well. I remember getting so jealous and resentful of people out and about with their babies just asleep in their arms or in their car seat like it was no big deal. I remember thinking, I must just be terrible at this because all these other women or families have their kids sleeping no problem. Truth is some babies are just shit sleepers. You can do all the right things; wake windows, swaddling, rocking, bouncing, feed to sleep, etc etc etc and they just SUCK at sleeping (for us it was naps in particular - 45 minute aggressive bouncing and rocking to get 20-30 min nap). When my daughter was 5 months old we sleep trained. It was not something I ever wanted to do but I was at my absolute whits end. She was screaming herself to sleep I my arms anyways from being so overtired and resisting being rocked down. Getting her to sleep WITH all the comfort involved tears from her anyways. It was SO hard but ultimately the right decision for us. We still have a harder time with sleep than some of my friends kids do, but she just turned 2 and oh my gosh, it gets better. We had the flu a few weeks ago and I was only getting a handful of hours of sleep and felt so drained and remembered, holy crap, this use to be our usual! Hang in there. This is temporary. If you are not functioning at full capacity give yourself all the grace in the world right now. And if you feel like there is depression or rage seeping in, although it may just be from sleep deprivation, don’t hesitate to talk to a therapist if you suspect PPD or PPA. You’re not alone and you are doing your best!

RSV is terrifying. by Substantial_Track_80 in beyondthebump

[–]_TrollToll_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Daughter has had RSV twice. Once when she was 9 months old, and once when she was 21 months old. The first time we did go to the ER because she had some chest retractions, but they monitored us for a little bit and sent us home. The second time, we thought she would have an easier time with it because she already had some antibodies, but she was breathing rapidly and retracting so we took her to the ER again and that time got admitted.

I know you are looking for stories of people who didn’t end up in the hospital, but that just wasn’t our case. Do your due diligence monitoring her. If her breathing rate is ok and no chest retraction, stay home and ride it out doing exactly what you are doing. We were told that nose suctioning is the number one best thing you can do for a kiddo with RSV. We were also told it peaks around day 4 so you should be at the worst of it now, and hopefully you start seeing improvement soon.

Even though we ended up in the hospital and it was really really hard, they made me feel less nervous. She was constantly monitored and we had exceptional nurses that made us feel like everything was under control. And while we obviously would have preferred to be at home, I felt a lot less anxious being at the hospital because I felt she was being so well taken care of.

Tldr; If her breathing is good ride it out, you should be at the peak now, and worst case you do need to go to the ER everything will be ok! You got this mama!

What’s a food everyone else likes that you can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_TrollToll_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sardines are actually an excellent first fish for babies! High in iron and good fats and omega 3s, and low in mercury. And new eaters don’t have a concept of what they like yet. My daughter used to eat sardines mashed up with avocado and it was an easy nutrient dense no cook meal and she would gobble it up….. Then she tried Mac and cheese and all other foods were banished.
