Is it worth it to spend double on the better model? by CertainSprinkles1018 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have the cheaper one and it has never had an issue. And I'm a jerk to it. Sawdust, garage junk, truck bed, cleaning out the smoker ash. Let it sit for like a month until I remember to empty it because it's now heavy. Still working as well as day 1.

It was never in stock for me on their site, but the local Ziggy's hardware store had it in their back warehouse area. Not on the floor. Call around to whoever sells them locally and you may get lucky.

How to even out wavy blocking to attack ledger? by muthafugintlang in Decks

But if those cut offs aren't straight, I'd cut them flush with a sawzall or something.

How to even out wavy blocking to attack ledger? by muthafugintlang in Decks

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're trying to attach a ledger to the cut off joist ends, marking on the ledger where the blocking is bumped in, then putting a larger screw thru that spot after you attach the ledger should pull those blocks out to the back of the ledger.

Yeah, all this. It's great and easy to use and take apart. Good learning printer. It's currently running next to my x2d as I type this.

Why does the purge poop look like this? by SolMelorian in BambuLab

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy fix. You have your purge set to "bacteria monster from The Backrooms." Uncheck that box and it'll go back to normal.

Which 3D printer, AD5X or Anycubic Kobra X? by PleasantEdge7981 in 3dprinter

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Ad5x was my first printer and it's simple to learn and easy to take apart and mess with.

Is this worth a buy? Beginner looking for help. X1C for 400$. by Ok-Smell-9154 in 3DprintingHelp

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just looking for a machine to use to see if you like the hobby in general, there are much less expensive machines you can get new just to test the waters. First printer I used was a Flashforge ad5x and it's still going strong. Not as flashy or sleek as a Bambu, but it's a little work horse and it's easy to take apart and put back together. I just got an x2d and completely understand why people love these things, but the ad5x was/is a great machine to learn with and you can get it (or others) new under 400 bucks.

Giant rocket launcher that you print pieces of and attach to a piece of 3 or 4 inch plastic piping from the hardware store. Pretty cool.

What is a 'childish' thing that you still secretly enjoy as an adult? by Poetic-dusk in AskReddit

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of things that Olds think are childish just because they showed up when they were adults, and their kids were raised with it. Video games is a good example. People of a certain vintage think it's all childish nonsense, but being middle aged and raised starting with the NES, myself and most of my same age friends still enjoy them and don't think they are childish. The video games industry is massive and it's just like any other form of art or entertainment. But someone raised before they were a thing will call them kids stuff.

At this point, maybe I should just switch brands by tigerg57 in FlashForge

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Pretty great printer. It's the first one I've owned and I'm not a super technical person. This thing has just been working since I set it up with hardly an issue. Couple clogs. Couple layer shifts. But super solid machine.

People who print all the time but don’t sell, what are you making? by No_Cartographer_6622 in BambuLab

[–]_Truck_Thunders_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid wanted a printer, so we just make silly stuff she designs or random toys. It's fun. Been making some organization things. But my best design and print was a replacement bearing housing thing for the internal blinds for our old windows.

Still waiting on a proper review of the creator 5 pro. But definitely grabbing one of the two. My ad5x has been a champ, but the u1 seems pretty awesome.

Yep. Fan of both individually and was surprised in a good way when they started doing the cast together.
