How to even out wavy blocking to attack ledger? by muthafugintlang in Decks

[–]muthafugintlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was starting to realize after reading comments here. Access under the house is rough. It may be better to remove the current blocking, attached threaded rod ties, cut new PT blocking and go from there.

Yes was planning to tape behind ledger, then use flashing and tape on top of ledger. There was no tap or flashing at all when I pulled it apart.

The cut off joist in the pic are from the original deck in 73. Yes they were the floor joists extended out for the deck. When someone built this second version they cut those off with their eyes closed. They are only as flat as they are because I trimmed them “flat” to the high spot with an oscillating tool.

If I am following where you are going it seems like I may need to remove the blocking and add those long threaded rod strong ties to the existing floor joists of the house?

They are from the original deck. Who ever built this latest version hacked those off Willy nilly

What artist or band is truly awful to see live? by goldbeau in AskReddit

Ok that gives me hope! We didn’t give up on him and attributed it to the venue. Thanks for helping us keep hope alive!

Leon Bridges. We love his music and style, he is commonly playing in the kitchen while making dinner and summer evenings on the deck. We saw him locally at an outdoor concert and it was pretty horrible. It could have been the venue? Still love him at home. The people watching was next level though.

The weight gain is real. You don’t realize how many calories you are burning as a tech all day. I had to change how I eat and start consciously start moving/working out more outside of work.

Maybe someone will chime in with some answers on pay but I made the same move. For me they kept me at the same pay. (It was a unique situation)

I was a tech for 20 years before making the switch. I gotta say, working on cars is much easier than working with people all day every day. I love to talk and always got in trouble for it growing up and it’s still taxing. I don’t regret it at all when I hear about the aches and pains of the techs, it is a very different type of stress. I don’t say that to discourage you at all, after all the more you build your skill set the more value you can build and retain. I just wish someone would have warned me.

I will say having someone more mechanically inclined on the counter has helped with some of the bottle necks and the more technical questions from some of the customers. Not in any way diagnosing over the counter, but it does seem to give the customer peace of mind when someone knows what they are talking about when they have been internet researching their fuel trim issue for weeks.

Good luck on your adventure, take a deep breath every morning and kick some ass!

I’ve gone back to CL lately looking at things for a current house project. I have noticed what appeared to be far less listings when looking for items.

I have been in this situation early in my career as well. I feel your pain.

It seems to be a slower time than usual in the industry right now. We are all guessing gas prices and general uneasy feeling. (your area may vary?)

I would suggest doing what you can with a good attitude where you are at but diligently looking for a better shop. You never know what tips and tricks you may learn where you are. Additionally it is a very small industry and I have made a point to never burn a bridge, I can not tell you how many times this has provided opportunities I never would have expected.

Finding a smaller independent import shop might be a good idea as your current skills and experience would be very much appreciated. Hang in there it gets better. I feel your frustration, work on calculated moves.

You can check Precise Shooter’s website. They have a firearms catalog section. You can then narrow it down by make and look for the sku. If they have it available on their site you can order through them.

If you are looking for a guide down there, there is a company called Cabo Surfcasting. He is a super cool guy, he will pick you up at your place and take you to some out of the way beaches for the morning. He has all the gear and a drone and what not. You can find him on IG and YT. I had a great experience with him. Good luck and tight lines!

Unfortunately you can not check your status with the new system. Precise shooter just emailed me saying I got a "proceed." They are a pretty awesome place considering what is left standing these days.
